About a month or two ago, I joined a game and everything seemed great. People were good writers and the mods seemed very nice. Plus, it was very active which I liked! My first character was a a woman and I made her straight because that’s how she felt when I was designing her. No issue. Plus, there were a ton of men who all were looking for women too!

Recently, I decided to apply for my second character and I made a man who decidedly felt like someone who could be bisexual so I put that in his application. Applications are posted publicly and the mod gives edits and suggestions where everyone can see. Well. She left all her edits and then messaged me privately asking if I could make him entirely straight. Her reasoning being that there are already more female characters than men and it wouldn’t be fair if two men paired off together and took away prospects. Also, since it wasn’t a present day game, it would create drama and she wanted things to be uncomplicated. There was nothing about this in the rules.

It made me check all the other characters in the game and literally EVERY character was straight. It made me wonder if she secretly messaged everyone in the game to change it so she could have her idyllic little heterosexual game.

Well, it gave me the heebie jeebies and I left with no word as to why. Sucks too because I loved my characters and the scenes I was in.

So I am the bad one in this story and the longer I let it go on, the more guilty I feel.

Basically, I have a game going on with someone who I feel is just not a match. They are a perfectly good writer and very sweet ooc but the way they write just doesn’t align with how I write. I even said something a few weeks ago when the scene was going strangely and they seemed very receptive to the criticism.

Literally, can’t stress enough that this person has been quite lovely.

But I honestly struggle to reply to the scene. I don’t feel invested at all and have no idea where it’s even going. It’s been about two weeks since I replied when we had been doing every day before.

Should I be honest with them and call it quits, give this story another chance or attempt to start a new one with this person?

We are looking to start a small group, collaborative roleplay on discord. We have a central theme of being a superhero game but we are hoping that incoming members will help collaborate on the world, the lore and what makes it tick. It’ll basically be like a 1:1 game but with 3-6 members.

We are two 30+ women looking for similarly aged players to join in. You can play whoever and whatever you want, we’ll be creating the world together! We are hoping the world will be real world adjacent with a splash of super but that can be discussed in creation.

The game will be mostly literate writing and would appreciate a couple posts a week. We are hoping for people who are 30+ but it’s not a requirement, just a desire to play with people our own age. We plan on playing on Discord and created a server but look forward to creating it with YOU.

There will be NPCs, characters, factions and a world we will all create together. If you would rather just play and not participate in world building, that is okay but we’d also like newcomers to have an opinion!

I consider myself a pretty proactive player. Character-based and in it for the long haul. I accepted starting something with someone whose character is just way too powerful and deciding things about my character that just make it not fun. (For example, solving a big issue in my character’s backstory almost immediately and completely effortlessly. Basically snap of a finger adjacent.) Most of the stuff my character says is disregarded or downplayed or he’s made to seem like he doesn’t know better because his character knows all.

I know the solution is to either talk to them or bail politely, I’m not looking for advice. Just ranting before I pull the trigger.

Hello! I’m a 30+ year old woman looking, ideally for a longterm, collaborate partner who is also 30+. (Not a requirement, I just prefer someone closer to my age!) I am located in the EST timezone and while I have a full time job and kids, I can commit to at least one reply per day. I would love this roleplaying relationship to also develop into a friendship so I’d love to find someone who I’d get along with ooc too.

I used to roleplay back on LJ and have recently gotten back into it on Discord but find that I’m not really clicking with the group games and prefer a more closed and character driven environment with another person.

What I’m looking for is someone interested in original characters and am open to whatever gender you want to play. Romance is not mandatory but if it happens naturally, that’s always fun! I prefer FCs over art but won’t knock anyone’s preference. I love humor and drama the best.

As for genre, I’ve been loving minor supernatural settings (think vampires or werewolves in the real world but it doesn’t have to be that!) and time period can be modern or sometime in the past. I also love superheroes. I’m not really into Sci-fi or gritty post apocalyptic stuff.

I typically write several paragraphs and have annoyingly introspective characters. I’d plan on making a brand new character with whoever I play with so we can coordinate in a way that feels collaborative!

I have a small garden in my backyard and one day, I allowed my cat to come out and join me while I watered it. She was super good and stayed close so I continued doing it.

It’s been a couple of weeks and she’s always been well-behaved outside but now she’ll stand by the door and meow desperately to go out with me. Plus, now she’ll stand sprints for the door when I open it.

Is this a bad idea health-wise? I know indoor cats are healthier but she’s never unsupervised. (She’s tiny so I worry about predators.)

Also, should I stop doing this?

We found this at an estate sale yesterday and it had a label on the bottom saying it was purchased for $700 at an auction several years ago. This is in a suburb near Boston, Massachusetts in the United States. We only paid $25 for it because the woman didn’t see the label.

I am not an expert on antiques and frankly never thought about owning one. We have two young kids, after all! But if this is something nice, I’m excited! If anything, even if it’s fake, we didn’t pay much and it looks nice.
