The state of SE5's multiplayer is just sad

For one, it's unbalanced as hell. Why Rebellion thought it was a good idea to bring in the perk system from the campaign is beyond stupid. Not only do perks by themselves create a very large gap between those who are low and high level, prestige makes it even worse by giving upgraded aptitudes.

For two, which ties into the balance, there's also the matter of SMGs. If in your Sniper game people just zoom around the map doing COD-style run & gun gameplay then something is wrong and it's made even more of a horrible experiences that everybody and their mother uses the guns with the highest rates of fire just to be SURE you can't fight back for even a second before being sent back to the death cam.

For three, the people. Not only are cheaters surprisingly common and most ones are even whole clans of people ruining matches like that. Aside of cheaters, like I said previously, people don't play the game like it's meant to be a Sniper game. In regular team matches players just abuse their stupid SMGs because why bother having an intense yet satisfying game of having good positioning and timing when you can just go full blitzkrieg? No-cross ain't much better either with players just turning around in circles baiting out glints and easily missed shots.

I'm sure most if not all of these points have already been talked about to death but I just had to rant because I just felt disappointed.

Games (ideally multiplayer) with a focus on rifles/bolt action rifles?

I have found myself very frustrated playing most war games lately because of automatic weapons. No matter if it's Battlefield or COD, if you're not playing with an SMG of some kind you're just at the biggest disadvantage unless you only use the rifle as a sniper and never go in close encounters.

As for Sniper Elite, sadly the multiplayer has to be one of the worst experience I've had.
Not only because it is highly unbalanced and progress is very slow (higher levels and prestige gets better perks than low levels so you're constantly getting stomped) but also, and mainly, because people play very stupid in all game modes. In no-cross most players just spin around baiting for sniper glints and in other game modes they just take out their SMGs (usually with the highest rate of fire possible) and just go and run around just like COD or BF.

So yeah, as a bolt action enjoyer, I'm very much looking for a game that would ease those frustrations while keeping the challenge of facing other players.

How are you meant to deal with Elite Barbs?

I just don't understand what I'm supposed to throw at them, they just shred through everything.

Big unit or building to bait them while smaller units attack them? They shred through it with their damage and health alone.
A unit with high damage like mini PEKKA? It's barely enough to kill one.
Many small units to overwhelm them? They shred through it with surprisingly quickly they throw attacks.
A spell like a fireball or frost? Barely leaves a dent.

I'm getting really tired of getting dogpilled by this unit no matter what deck or strategy I attempt and watch suckers act all cocky about it as if it was a skillfull play or bait.

Average LVL40 Karl on Atlantic Wall

There's really nothing like expecting a fun and engaging Invasion and having to put up with this. It's unbelievable how this building is like the absolute crutch for so many players, rarely the new players too, only the experienced ones.

Honestly I prefer Karls who trap the whole map because at least it tends to be over quickly from either walking too fast on a corpse, a corner or using a phone. But these guys? Man, I know it's a sniper game so patience is key but come on. Karl already has so many advantages over the Invader you're telling me you HAVE to hide and abuse focus because you want an easy kill that much?

Confused about the weapon workbench

I have found everything in every mission and yet I can't get the achievement because there's apparently one I'm missing but unless I do the whole campaign again I can't know what workbench I've missed. It's even weirder that, as far as I'm aware, you only unlock a workbench by interacting with it so it's not even a case where I might have passed in front of one and forgot about it.

Is it a bug? Am I missing something?

I made sure to only walk just out of spite

I get that missions can be repetitive but holy shit dude waited like 10 seconds in the elevator while we were trying to make our way there clearing the horde and drop this on us. Forcing him to wait was especially entertaining after this.

Arakure might not be to everyone's taste, but that CGI trailer was exciting!

When was the last time we got to see a CGI trailer with so much action going on? Juren literally only stands around, Virtuosa wasn't too bad but some parts were a bit choppy, Khatun just walked and waves a flag for a bit... but this one, it gave me flashbacks to that very first E3 trailer with Orochi and Warden fighting in the corridor! (Obviously it's not as grandiose but it's still better than most of the other trailers we've gotten since)

I was very pleased with the good work Ubisoft did with this one, and I certainly hope it means we can expect some future high quality animations again. It only raises my hopes for that big announcement they're apparently planning on making during the Warrior's Den!

You ever play with a friend and he says something so stupid and wrong it takes every cell in your being not to roast him?

Buddy mains LB and has the balls to say it takes more skill and effort to play him than Nobushi and Valkyrie after they got a few kills on him in dom meanwhile they don't even get the priviledge of enhanced lights and most Heroes do their job even better 😭

I wish more outfits would allow to show the body tattoos

Be it the ones that can be unlocked or purchased, it's sort of underwhelming. Not only are most just reskins/recolors if you don't count the ones that can be bought with Aquillas, they don't really allow to show much of the customization we've done on our character save the face, and that's only if you don't use a mask. But for the clothing aside of like the basic prison outift they nearly all cover the tattoos and scars.

For all the talk about lack of cakes, what I'm pissed about is the ridiculous amount of Iri shards

Imagine wanting to buy some cool shit for the 10th anniversary but BHVR goes "fuck you give me money".

Wow, great, every skin can be purchased at a lower price with auric cells! Surely I can expect the skins I've had an eye on to be at a fair price using only my Iris shards- oh wait no they're all still at the same fucking price! Oh but surely we get a good amount of the currency each day as a login reward, well fuck you as well you get 75 shards

I don't really think it's any different from any of the previous anniversary event the game had in the past, but it still piss me off that BHVR is so stingy with their currency and ONLY lower the price of auric cells you have to spend. Oh, what am I saying, they're so kind we can at least buy new survs and killers at a reduced price

Hero variety is dead and buried

We're talking about a game with 38 Heroes and soon more to be added, yet I can't remember the last time I've fought against most of the Heroes in the cast. All you see are the most meta-whoring, frustrating special, rage inducing Heroes used every fucking match, people just want to have their gameplay spoon fed to them with barely any requirements to think

Fighting 3 Jurens and a Shaolin

Do I need to say more?

Don't mind me just statying at spawn, I'd rather take the L passively than subject myself to an ass fisting like that. Oh, and again, single pick would make about 8 out of 10 dominion/breach match better.

How are you meant to figure out in-game the steps to get the true/good ending?

I'm not sure if it's an issue from my part of not fully understanding the dialogues, perhaps maybe not paying "enough" attention, or if it's the game purposefully hiding things away... and it sorts of frustrates me.

Like, how are you supposed to figure out in-game that you need to equip the bead, fill it with guilt by dying three times, then that you need to destroy the statues of the confessors in order to grow the thorn given very early on? Is it ever something that's told? I could also add on to that how you can skip the entire fight with Esdras on the bridge if you... break a random wall that give access to his sister's tomb, and surely more that I'm not thinking of right now!

I know I could just go in blindly without spoiling myself with guides and such, but it just feels like the game is almost meant to be played that way. Again, I'm likely wrong or just not used to the genre, but either way it frustrates me a bit because I don't wanna do the whole game looking up at the wiki to make sure I don't miss out on anything...

I know Shugoki isn't smiled upon by most players especially on the rant side of the game but honestly, playing as him feels just as bad as playing against him. It's either you crush the opponent or you're the one who gets stomped and there's no in-between, he's pretty much just a noob stomper and only "good" to stall on zones.

It's still crazy to me that they've given an infinite chain of heavies to Hitokiri but not to Shugoki, the Hero with a weapon that is MADE to constantly use the momentum to keep the attacks flowing. Although it wasn't perfect, at least his previous rework made him slightly more of a threat with the demon embrace being accessible with a soft feint from a heavy, now he's just a low-cost version of Centurion where you can only hope your enemy struggles when it comes to variable heavies

I wouldn't go as far as to say her moveset feels half-baked but it feels like she's missing "something" or I'm just really not playing her the way she's meant to be played.

It just feels very lackluster to play, most of her moveset can only be accessed through dodges or very telegraphed light attacks so against anyone competent enough it's a real pain to apply pressure. Playing her in agressively feels more risky for me than for my enemy, yet playing her more defensively also feels wrong because she's so vulnerable to GBs whenever you try to get out of a tight spot using her dodge UB or bash
