Need Phone + Laptop suggestions under ₹1 Lakh total in the Independence Day sale/freedom sale

Please recommend a phone and a laptop that I can buy in this Independence Day sale. College is about to start, and my budget is under ₹1 Lakh for both.

For the phone: I want a clean UI, no lag, and no heating issues. Good battery life is important, and a decent camera would be nice. I don’t need a hardcore gaming phone, just a reliable one that handles everyday tasks smoothly and will last 4–5 years.

For the laptop: I honestly don't know much about specs, so please suggest some options. I’m joining a management college for my UG but plan to start competitive coding/programming too. I just need something reliable.

Signing off on the BG vs Jammu debate, BG here I come for next 3 years

After going back and forth over the last few days, I've finally made up my mind. On paper and on an institutional level, BG and Jammu are pretty much on the same tier. Honestly, a lot of the hate Bodhgaya gets online literally just comes down to state bias because it's in Bihar, if BG was in almost any other state, people wouldn't be dunking on it half as much.
for me, I’m locking in BG over Jammu, mainly because it aligns much better with my priorities, especially keeping my finances in mind as an OBC-NCL candidate

Lower Fees = Less Debt for Me: Being someone who gets stressed easily, saving a few lakhs upfront takes a massive load off my mind when thinking about loan repayments and future financial pressure.

Balanced Workload: Coming from a PCM background with most of my friends doing BTech, I definitely get a bit of FOMO. I felt BG’s curriculum structure gives me enough breathing room to focus on academics without getting burnt out, while giving me the bandwidth to dive into competitive programming and earn a few certifications on the side.

Solid Long-Term Growth: What ultimately sealed it for me was their audited placement reports (which was also the reason my cousins were advising me toward BG), alongside major steps like AACSB accreditation and the SMU tie-up. I really believe this momentum will pay off heavy in a few years.

If you aren't tight on finances and really prioritize a single room or scenic views, Jammu is completely fine. But if you're evaluating this purely on long-term value, lower debt, and practical outcome especially for EWS/NCL folk like me, Bodhgaya is lowkey the smarter deal.

Both are good colleges at the end of the day, but BG definitely deserves way more credit than Reddit gives it.

Thanks to everyone who dropped their takes along the way! See you at Bodhgaya!

🙏🙏Please suggest a phone for a student starting college this year. The phone should last for at least 5 years, with a maximum budget of ₹35,000. I am currently considering the OnePlus Nord 5, should I go for it or is there a better alternative? Also, it is currently out of stock

was originally planning to join KMC over IIM BG and J, but lately, I'm reconsidering. The more I read, the more I'm leaning toward BG, especially after Bhavesh Bhaiya mentioned that choosing IIM BG over even some Gen-2 IIM is actually starting to make sense now. I'd love to get some perspective here

Isn't Bodhgaya offering a much better value overall? Aside from having a more balanced academic workload, the fee structure feels a lot more justified for what you get , especially with updates like their tie-up with Singapore Management University (SMU) that Bhavesh Bhaiya mentioned.

Jammu gets a ton of traction, but purely in terms of long-term value and international exposure, wouldn't Bodhgaya be the smarter choice over Jammu right now? What do you guys think?
iim bg or kmc or iim j 🫠😩😭

u/BhaveshShaha bhaiya, is this actually true? Should people pick Bodhgaya over Jammu? I personally preferred Bodhgaya, but I was a bit skeptical

Is it just me or are IPM programs at Jammu and Bodhgaya and maybe Amritsar too a massive trap? pls read body and guide me on what to do 🙏🙏

I’ve been looking at the results today and everyone is hyping up the IPM programs at IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya (personally, I feel IIM Amritsar is reasonable due to a better location). It honestly feels like a massive cash-cow scheme.
For me, the biggest issue here is the MONEY. The fees for just the first 3 years of the BBA phase itself easily touch around 20–23 Lakhs. You are paying that insane amount just for a UG degree in cities where you get absolutely zero corporate exposure.
I really need opinions on joining either these baby IIMs or any decent general college (like DU, Mumbai University, Christ, etc.). The corporate exposure, internships, and networking opportunities you get in metro cities like Delhi or Mumbai are things you will never get sitting inside a campus in Jammu or Bodhgaya. You're basically getting isolated for 3 years.

And ultimately, most of us will probably end up sitting for CAT after three years anyway. So, isn't it more reasonable to join a decent college for graduation and then give CAT a shot? Instead of burning through cash, it makes so much more sense to take a decent general college, build a great profile in a major city, save a ton of money, and then give CAT your best shot after graduation.

What do you guys think? Am I missing something or is this IPM hype genuinely overrated? It feels crazy to spend this much money on them. Please give your opinions😶‍🌫️ 😭😭

Hey everyone, I’m Anushka. I’m posting this on behalf of my cousin who isn’t on Reddit and is currently feeling pretty devastated. He’s had a rough couple of years and we really need some guidance on his next steps. u/BhaveshShaha pls help

Class 10th: 93%,
Class 12th PCM(2024): Couldn't appear due to a severe spine injury (conditions like paralysis) and long-term bed rest
Class 12th (2025): Appeared as a private candidate; scored 64%. took drop for improvement in 2026 and jee 2026
2026 Drop Year: He worked incredibly hard and scored 97.8 percentile in JEE Mains.
Class 12th(2026) just came :73%. ( not gonna get engineering college due to 75% criteria)

The Crisis: He has a brilliant JEE score but is falling short of the 75% requirement for engineering clg by just 2%. It feels like his hard work is going to waste because of this board criteria.
Current Situation & JIPMAT: He filled out the JIPMAT (IPM admission) form on May 10th using his 2025 score (64%).

  1. JIPMAT Correction: Can he edit his Class 12th marks in the JIPMAT application now that his improvement result is out?
  2. Does JIPMAT/IIMs have a strict 75% cutoff like engineering, or will his 73%/64 ( if he is not able to edit his marks ) be okay?
  3. He belongs to the OBC community. Since his 12th marks are low (73%), what should be his target score in JIPMAT to "overshadow" the low board marks during final selection? IIMs usually have a weightage for 12th marks can a very high entrance score compensate for this?

He is a very bright student who just had a streak of bad luck with his health and board exams. Any advice, college suggestions, or technical help regarding the application forms would mean the world to us.

TL;DR: Cousin has 97.8%ile in JEE but only 73% in Boards (Improvement). Missed the 75% mark. Needs to know about JIPMAT edits
