Guy Ask Guy Dating Advice

I need some advice. I've been a hopeless romantic all of my life. I've always believed in the silly love stories, and dreamed of love and nothing else since I was little.

The more I grow up, the more I realize it was all naivety and fairy tale. Countless times I've seen women chase, bend the rules, and break their own backs for a guy that treats them horribly or less than ideal. But when it comes to a guy that genuinely likes & cares for them (aka me or some other men) they seem repulsed at the idea of having a romantic relationship with that person or being attracted to them.

For instance, I've been told by some of my friends who are girls that I need to change my voice (have a deeper voice), I need to act more nonchalant (im a very chalant happy social guy full of laughs, joy, & talking 24/7), I need to be more serious (im a very silly guy), and that I need to make the woman chase me (because attention from a woman is rare in my life - so too often do I get quickly attached and like someone even just after a few days or weeks).

So basically, I need to hear the real not so pleasant sounding advice it takes to actually get girls to like you, want you, chase you, etc. I've been "trying to be myself" 27 years of my whole life and it hasn't worked. I've been social a lot, happy, goofy, full of laughter, vulnerable, caring, deeply passionate & hopeless romantic, etc, but nothing is working. So I think I need to start doing the opposite and need advice on how to start doing it, what to do, and need to understand why women are more attracted to these opposite characteristics.
