Please pardon my RR

Isn't it strange how a song you once loved is now your most hated song, a place you'd often go to you now avoid, and your favorite color is now your least favorite?

All because of that one person who is no longer a part of your life.

Mentally exhausted despite the break :/

It’s been 2 days since I’m back home after a short trip to Rishikesh but it doesn’t feel like it. Although I am a workaholic, I still don’t feel like opening my laptop and wish to go back.

The reason being, I’ve recently been having a bad time with my partner (now ex), and right before the trip the fight got super ugly (I cannot even describe it). We were at peace when I was travelling and made sure I shared all updates although she did not acknowledged any.

After I got back the fight reignited and I feel super lost. Just not motivated enough to hit the gym, work or even sleep well. I am sure this is the end of our 2 year long relationship. I am not saying I had no part in the fights or I was right or she was wrong but it’s broken and now beyond repair.

Last year we visited almost all Ganpati mandals together and this year she has already visited half of them with her brothers and friends. I am not saying she shouldn’t but to me it hurts as last year was the first time when I visited so many of them while for her it was a ritual.

Back there I was at peace, the air was fresh, the water was clean, the people were new and my mind wasn’t clogged with everything happening in my personal life.

I will soon turn 32 and I don’t have mental bandwidth to start something new and go over all again (nor do I think I can get into an arrange setup). The only time I feel peace is when I reminisce my trip. I also feel a lot heavy on my heart, want to talk to someone, but the fear of being judged restricts me.

If anyone if you has been in a similar situation and manage to reconnect with their partners for good, please let me know.

Is this what "Adulting" is all about?

When I was a kid, I was told,

“Study now. You’ll enjoy life later.”

So I studied.

When I got to college, I was told,

“Just get your degree. Then you’ll be able to enjoy life.”

So I got the degree.

A few years ago, when I started working, the message changed,

“Work hard now. Once you get married and have a partner, life will get easier. Then you’ll enjoy life.”

So I kept going.

And today?

I go to work.
I come home.
I do the household chores.
I take care of what needs to be taken care of.

And somewhere along the way, I started wondering…

When exactly was I supposed to enjoy my life?

It feels like I’ve spent years preparing for a future that keeps moving further away.

There was always a “later.”

Later, after school.
Later, after college.
Later, after getting a job.
Later, after getting married.
Later, when things finally settle down.

But what if “later” never actually comes?

Maybe life isn’t supposed to be something we earn after we’ve finished all our responsibilities.

Maybe we’re allowed to live it **while** we’re studying, working, cleaning, building a career, building a relationship, and figuring ourselves out.

Because I don’t want to wake up one day and realize I spent my whole life preparing to live…

without ever actually living.

How much should one make/earn to own a Rolex?

When I was a kid I would often but fake Nike, Adidas, Puma, etc. all sorts of first copy because our conditions weren’t really good and also it would give me a feeling of acceptance in the circle.

However with growth and advancement in career I have realised the true feeling of having an original product brought with one’s own hard earned money. This feeling is much higher than the sense of acceptance I’ve had wearing fake brands earlier.

One of my goals is to own a Rolex someday and the one of the models I liked ranged between 7-8L.

My question to this group is, how much would you consider I should be making to own one without making it a rash buying decision just ti satisfy my ego or fulfil my dream.

Not all Rolex have a resale value (I meant in terms of profitability/investment) and I am not sure the one I liked has. Is there a formula that says I should make 3x of the watch price before owning one, etc?

EDIT: I am here to collect opinions and also balance between financial planning and fulfilling my dreams.

A few logic I liked that I would be considering before purchasing my first Rolex would be:
• If I have a net worth of 1 CR above
• If the watch is worth 5% of my annual in-hand
• Watch should be 5% of my net worth

And of course, your lifestyle has to be at par with the luxury watch to make it believable it’s an original and not a copy.

What I also learned from the comments is the fact that buying a Rolex for a first timer is not easy. And financial planning is not gonna be the primary area of concern.

You need to have a “spending history”, where you need to display some of previous luxury spending habits, could be gold, jewellery or some unwanted antique that is expensive. The authorised dealers will ideally evaluate you for spending your own money and decide if you are worthy or not (one the reasons being, some folks buy it to just sell it in the grey market at inflated prices).

A couple of good captions I am taking away:
“A watch doesn’t just tell time, it tells how good your time is”
“If you look into your watch and hurry because you are late you don’t deserve a Rolex”

The best thing about time is that it changes

Time changes everything, never stays the same forever.

I feel at times, we overanalyse situations primarily because our brain tries to predicted and control the future (probably to prevent failure or disappointment).

I have done a ton of mistakes in my life! I do regret but I would not have wanted anything else. I stand where I am today because of my past mistakes and learnings.

It’s incredible how today’s terrors become tomorrow’s jokes once you survive them. There has been so many things I’ve done in the past that I feared heavenly back then but today it’s more like a standup material for me.

What do you guys think? How do you handle/tackle such situations where you think it’s end game for you and probably after a week or month it’s just a memory?

Sagar (Inkjectors) | Mumbai, India

Recently got a mid arm tattoo by @sagar_inkjectors (Mumbai, India).

I previously had 3 tattoos, and this one was the fourth one.

A little context, I recently had an eye surgery (retinal detachment) and was on bed rest for a month with minimal or no movements and on a heavy dose of pain killers. My right eye was the operated one and is slightly red even after recovery (and honestly I don’t think it would ever recover 100%).

I wanted a tattoo that symbolised the same, so yea, eye was a major part of the concept and then wanted some designs around so used the Māori art to stitch/connect the previous designs.

3/4 tattoos were done by Sagar bhai himself, he’s great at his work!

Mumbai autorickshaw drivers are on strike today!

Apparently there’s a nationwide strike and the same is being practiced by mumbai rickshaw drivers. Tried boarding one but denied stating they are on strike and its related to hike in prices.

This is as of 10 AM, 24th Aug.

What exactly is the National Gallery of Modern Art?

Guys I recently visited the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) and I am a little confused.

The gallery was just Bollywood!

Why would someone build a Bollywood museum and name it National Gallery of Modern Art. I did check the Google Business Profile and that had different images including the one’s I witnessed so not really sure what it is.

Did it recently get renovated or is this something that changes every quarter/year?

Been a week since I got my hands on the Classic iPod 6th Gen

I always fancied having one when I was a kid. Unfortunately our financial conditions were not that great back then.

Now that I have adult money, thought of spending it on somethings that we couldn’t afford back then.

This one you see here is a flash modded 6.5/7th generation. Upgraded it to a 128 GB (flash modded with dual SD adapter) and 2500 mAh battery. The firmware used is of the original 120 GB. Apart from the click wheel I have upgraded the entire body to give it a new look.

When I went down the rabbit hole researching about the places I could get one, I was amazed by the demand iPods carry even today.

Facebook market place is the best place to get hands on an old one at a cheap rate and then you can get the body and other tech online to give it a new look!
