How do people move so fast? (And other wonders)

See title. I have in general felt like there is some secret meta that goes undiscussed on this game but other people seem clued in on and I would love to just finally have answers, per say.

Firstly, I have been curious for many years how some people on this game never slide off walls during walljumps. I have tried intuiting from debug mode how it works but no solid answers. I noticed lag seems to increase lack of collision with walls during WJ; my computer is old and it struggles to load in certain maps or animations, then I get lag spikes, then sliding increases. Is this is the correct connection to be making? Or is it something else and I'm getting a false positive? How do I stop slipping either way?

I also want to know how people do such fast inputs. I can tell I move slower than others on button presses even when I am trying my best, in fact sometimes it is like the game just stops responding to my inputs. I have considered a magnetic keyboard (not just for this I swear, I also have intent to learn to speedrun a different game that is incredibly input-sensitive) but is there anything else I can do in the meantime? Would a magnetic keyboard even help with the game's lack of response? I feel so sluggish and it's frustrating.

There are other things I wonder too, like how people know when exactly to turn around before grabbing the cheese to decrease distance back to the mouse hole, or how to increase my CJ precision. Should I just play with debug mode on more until I can 'sense' without it when is correct?

I am also interested in just general tips, advice, etc. Anything anyone has to say I have interest in. My ping averages 20-30, I want to harness the maximum of my power.. lol.

Sorry for acting like a sweat I just love this game and I want to continue to get better at it. Fun for me is when a game is hard, and difficulty in Transformice lies heavily in its competitive scene for me. That, and adjusting how I play shaman rounds to make them more engaging (learning no-skills divine slowly! Very interesting so far).

Why is 'being' good? Why is 'person' bad?

Seeking your thoughts.

Something people tell me often is that I am good at wording my thoughts on topics. It's something I've come to take pride in, but it has also given me the encouragement to begin writing personal essays, which is an interest I have been wanting to take up for a while now.

My first one, I've decided, will relate to the way many therians are preferential to being called 'beings' or similar terms that avoid the denotion of personhood. The premise of this one, without going too far into detail, is that I disagree heavily with the suggestion that to be a therian is to not be a person, and why I do not enjoy 'person' as a concept being deducted from my sense of self. This is irrespective of individual comforts, which I cannot control and do not intend to; I simply do not see these two things as mutually exclusive and want to discuss why, arguing my points and talking about my experiences which have led me to this conclusion.

I will then publish all of it to my personal website for others to read and come to their own conclusions over.

But first, of course, I must understand why people feel different to me in the first place. I can't put forward an idea if I don't know what the potential counterpoints or the mindset behind alternate opinions would be. I have guesses, but guesses are not good enough to me.

Don't just tell me it makes you uncomfortable. I can guess that already. Think deep. I want detail.

I emphasise, again, I cannot control people's preferences. Do not take this that way. I only wish to share my thoughts with the world because I have things to say that I have not seen expressed by anyone else, and I think there could be value in wider-scale consideration and discussion.

Game down for anyone else right now?

I was gonna buy the Sylveon fur before it goes out of shop and grind more of the event between studying, but I can't log in. ^_^;

EDIT: I'm a doof. I completely blanked that I'm literally in the official Discord and can just go look there to see if anyone else is having this problem. My bad. On that note, turns out the game is getting hacked, maybe DDOS'd? So that's.. eventful.

I don't know how to just get over being in a human body

I hate being a human. Maybe it is the nighttime air and all the bad feelings that accompany being awake so late but I am at a loss.

I had an experience. One dreamlike and so grand to the tired mind that it left me in tears afterwards. A brief moment as I lay in bed tonight I had this very strange bodily experience, like an intense shift, where I felt like I just was my true self. Entirely. My ears, muzzle, my slick fur, my back legs. I felt all of it.

It was the most blissful, relaxed state I've been in in actual weeks. It was like a most delicious meal I'd never noticed I needed. It was water in a desert I'd not realised was full of oases. Nothing else mattered. Everything was perfect.
And now, it is gone again. Indeed, I'm left with the realisation, heavier in the air than ever, that I hate being what I am.

Being a human? Or being a slugrat? Maybe both, because it is a combination which makes me want what I can never have.

And I've struggled with these feelings for years, I'll admit. Definitely at least a decade. But as the world goes in the direction it's going I feel even more unhappy with myself and more restless than ever.

It is a simple conundrum, but it makes me feel pathetic and like I've broken some sort of sacred unspoken rule: I do not want to be a human being. I do not want to lead the life I am leading which is that of a human being's. In big year 2026 I am no longer grateful for human innovation, for their thumbs, for their longevity. Their endless self-acclaiment of superiority over all other creatures, who they rule with an iron fist, and the dominion which they then bestow upon me to share. I no longer take joy in technological advancements nor do I particularly enjoy most people I meet, and none of this is for lack of effort.

It is not a gift to be this animal. I have so long felt demanded by some to see it so. But truthfully, I am trapped within something else's skin, and there is no escape.

I am just a rodent. Not in that soft sense humans so portray; I am a prey animal surrounded by large apex predators, and I am terrified. I am unwell. I want to be with my own species and the select humans I trust who will love me as I am and then never around the rest. I look even in the mirror only to see yet another. The flat face and the skinny long legs become some sort of body horror monster. What is that reflecting back at me, and where do I find myself within it?

I do not know what to do. I want to live happily. I don't even know if I'm asking for advice because I don't know what would help. I'm genuinely wondering if therapy might be worth considering.

Nest construction

See title. I am several things and just about all of them, it seems, love cramped spaces. Dens, burrows, one time as a young adult I was staying at my sister's house and crawled into her cupboard with a blanket during a shift, that kind of thing. It certainly explains a lot about me I will say but it leaves much to be desired in regards to my current home life.

What I want to do is make my nest into an enclosed space. My shelter is already small but I want my nest to sort of be its own even smaller space I can go into when I need dark and less sensory and so that I can feel more secure when at rest. This would entirely unironically do wonders for my QOL. I want to enrich my enclosure if you will. Anyone with knowledge of rodents will tell you not having covered places to hide and too much open space makes them stressed!

Problem is, I am a student living in a student dorm, and I also have to move frequently. This nest is the most basic of nests and both it and the shelter have next to nothing I can anchor anything to to make a canopy of sorts, nor can I exactly alter the space itself in any permanent manner to create fixtures with which to aid in the creation of a canopy.

My question for you all, then, is: Um. What do.

What would be a good improv thing to hang a blanket or two from? I tried my storage boxes, you may be able to guess this really did not work well.. at all. Also, what might be good to put in the nest to make it feel more nesty and not just.. well, like a human bed? I have my stuffies on it and my 'canopy' is going to be my star blanket and maybe an ocean-themed blanket if I can find a nice one secondhand. I thought about getting fake seagrass to supplement my space in general or something, maybe I could drape some somewhere?
If you suggest buying things, please try and keep it affordable but also preferably not from Amazon. Emphasis on me being a student, but also I really do not like buying from Amazon for ethical reasons. I do love handmaking things and buying secondhand items if that helps. : )

Disliking a theriotype/hearttype/etc

Been mulling on this for a while, it's not an experience I see around often and I wanted to talk about it. Does anyone else just.. not like their animal identity?

Long story short, I may or may not be a shiba inu, or otherhearted as a shiba inu, or something like that. This little factoid about me has been intermittently coming up in my life for about.. 5 years now? Just on and off feelings that come and go. I recently bought myself a fursuit tail of a shiba and it made me realise I find dressing like one somehow euphoric, but while I'm comfortable with the idea of presenting my outer body in tandem with that kind of animal it has me mulling on the concept again that I might just outright be a shiba somehow.

And I.. do not like that. When I typically realise I might have a 'type I'm very open to mulling on it. I have not done that. I have avoided confronting this or thinking about it for 5 years, actually.

And to be honest, I couldn't tell you why either. I simply do not want to be a dog. I do not want to be associated with dogs. I am not a "dog person". I recognise there is most certainly something going on in my brain that is shiba-associated, and I simply do not want to do anything with it. I know I don't have to necessarily, don't worry, it's just that in a way it fascinates me as an emotion because my other kintypes I am just perfectly fine with. I am consistently embracing my slugrat identity and trying to be more like that animal, and it is the one I discuss most often online.

Thinking about it, it might honestly be that most of the time dogs are heavily.. infantilised? Shibas are in fact one of the dog breeds that gets a lot of crappy treatment, even. I strongly identify with the fact I am a wild animal, I hate being regarded as cute or silly in my animality and I would most certainly hate to be seen as a "puppy". To me my connection to shibas revolves around their status as a stubborn, intelligent working dog. Not a "much wow such doge" smiling fluffy thing that gets bought as a designer pet and discarded once people realise how difficult they are to train. It is entirely possible this resentment towards the societal treatment of dogs is part of why I have tried so hard to deny I may be at least somewhat dog, and ironically now that I think about it it might say something in of itself that I feel so strongly about dogs in this manner.

Either way, possibility of being a dog. I would dislike that. Unfortunately a primary component of therianthropy, famously, is that it is involuntary. I will probably come to terms with it eventually and actually figure out what's going on so that I can just move on with my life and continue my transition in regards to the past life/part of my brain I actually connect with. In the meantime, I wondered if anyone else has an experience like this; how did you accept it? Did you?

Yes yes.. another long post from me.. my bad. I'm a talker.

Gave a childhood plush of mine a bath 💛

He looks so much better now! I'm so happy. I've had him since I was about 7 so he has not been properly cleaned in over 15 years lol
He also got some loose strings and messed up fabric fixed up. I lifted the stains with white vinegar before soaking and scrubbing in warm water and lemon-scented detergent.

Can we get a pinned post

I'm tired so I'll keep this short. I think it would help a lot if the sub had a pinned post explaining what a therian is, clearing up misconceptions and directing people to more resources. It feels like every single day there is a human coming into the sub just to ask the same questions over and over and over and I really think a pin would do some good personally. There's also a lot of therians asking the same questions ad nauseam about things like validity that I think could also be addressed in this same post.

I believe this will do a lot for helping to foster productive discussion in the sub.

Alternatively if this already exists and I'm just missing it somehow (I thought there was, but if there is why arent they reading it??), then that means these people are asking questions that already have answers directly on the sub and I feel like that also warrants attention because it just isn't necessary at all.
To be clear therians asking for reassurance I can empathise with, I just threw in that suggestion because Ive had it in mind already. But humans coming here frequently and at times outright disrespecting us in how they address us I am less happy about and have a larger problem with. Some of the ways these people address us is downright rude and I don't think that at the very least should be allowed.

I know I'm being blunt, sorry, it's been a long day.

My vaporeon plush. Thought this sub might appreciate them!

Their name is Harbour and they're a 2020 Buikd-a-Bear. : ) I got them for £12 from a collector, had been wanting a BAB vap for several years and couldn't resist such a bargain. Very happy with them now!

I assume this doesn't fall under the merch section of the low effort content rule? Hopefully? Lmao

Parental instinct and maternity/paternity in therianthropy

So. I bought a plushie of my species recently.

It was kind of just cute looking and I was super endeared to it, but when I got it some kind of lightswitch.. flipped in my brain.

I take this thing everywhere. I take it to my nest to sleep. I sometimes bring it when I go out with my friends. When I go shopping I put it in my rucksack like I'm carrying a real slugpup on my back again. I'm half considering buying more just to dote on. Apparently I really, really missed having pups around.

It does not go unnoticed to me that in my previous life I had children. I largely don't remember what they looked like, just milk-scent and the soft fur of my partner in our den together. This is fine and dandy, except for the tough part where I miss them and I miss having them in my life. Little ears still growing in their fuzz and big bright eyes, clinging to my back or running ahead to play in the seaspray or with whatever weird objects they could find.. stressful, definitely, but by that time we both knew enough about the world and had found enough community it could've gone a lot worse. I think a lot about them.

But I do not desire human children. This sort of melancholy about it does not extend to human children.

I guess I'm just curious if I'm alone in this. I do feel a little alone, it's not a topic that really comes up. I've thought about volunteering for shelters or such similar spaces because student dorms don't allow animal companions, but we'll see where that goes. It's possible I just miss having family and community in general; I am largely estranged from my human parents and I have little interest in humans outside the ones I already adore or intend to bond with. I'm curious on others' experiences.

EDIT: Photo is a CG from Rain World. : )

Just moved house! Celebratory coffee together.

SO tired after all that. The last of everything was done yesterday but I was so exhausted and in pain from overworking myself I just did nothing for the rest of the day. Feeling a little better, albeit achey today, so I took Harbour out to get food and drink. : )

The Floralsei shirt

So now that we have in mind that Ralsei's hat sprites represent some sort of identity repression, I've been curious about revisiting the official fangamer shirt. I'm wondering what we all think of it with that context now? Specifically the flower types and their meanings, I'm wondering what flowers are even here and if they might have relevance to her and what this version of her entails :3

I'm very sleepy so sorry if this is worded badly or a bit of a silly idea. If anyone responds I'll probably reply in the morning! But I wanted to open a discussion about this while it was still on my mind.

Thanks for making this sub

See title.

I am just.. so, so exhausted and burnt out by the sheer vitriol. This has truly been the epitome of how reactionarily hateful fandom truly is; if they don't like it, it can't possibly be true. Narrative be damned. They don't even realise how they're revealing themselves. They can't begin to reflect on what exactly it is about transfem Ralsei as a concept that makes them this angry and defensive.

I feel like I've seen this over and over again with transfeminity in fiction, but the sheer scale happening in this fandom right now is something else. I'm so tired.

Sorry, I will delete if that kind of negativity is too much, I guess I just wanted to express that somewhere I wouldn't get shat on lmao. That said, Ralsei being hinted to be transgender is a concept that makes me really happy and given Toby's history with trans characters I'm excited to see how he handles it. I've been following along with this game since day one and in a way it means a lot to watch these characters grow and discover themselves alongside me. When my official Ralsei plushie arrives, I'm going to sew them a little ribbon to wear on their head. I'll share her here when I do. 💙

Nice to meet you fellows, I hope to have a better time here than I have in the main subs.

My IRL friend gifted me with gear! : )

He is going back to his home country soon, I will miss him but he left me with some things before he went. My favourites are the tails and the cream ears.
