Documentary on Rempit culture

Documentary on Rempit culture

Hey.. I'm from a small indie Sarawakian production company (we've made documentaries, MV's and short films for local TV). I have this idea of doing a documentary on Rempit culture.

https://youtu.be/Z68Qa2yVsIg

I'm inspired by this YouTube documentary about outcasts in the greater Tokyo area. While not to that extent, I did get to know a few kids who rempit from my kpg.

As a member of the public, what would you like to ask these rempits/street racers?

Hotel Reverie (S7E03): who's a great recast for the main character Brandy Friday?

While Emma Corrin's performance has been praised universally for Hotel Reverie, I wonder who could've matched their freak as Brandy? From the top of my head:

  1. Halle Berry

  2. Danielle Deadwyler

  3. Tessa Thompson

  4. Ayo Edebiri

What local celebrities have you seen in the wild?

Like somewhere you didn't expect to see an artist/celebrity.

I saw Jehan Miskin at a bar in Bangsar once being chummy with a lady about 12-ish years ago. I saw Siti Nurhaliza at one of those British Circus shows and she was walking around the grounds during the intermission and I gotta say she is radiant irl.

Recommendations for my mom for long flights

Got my 61 year old mom into audiobooks when she listened to In Order To Live by Yeonmi Park on a 6 hour flight to Korea. And she loved it. She even told me all about it after every chapter.

My mom loves to read but her eyes aren't great nowadays. She watches TV shows on her phone too but it's disorientating after a while. I tried introducing her to podcasts but she isn't very interested. I asked her what type of audiobooks she'd like and she just said, "the one like the North Korean one".

She likes Jane Austen, Little House on the Prairie, Anne with an E etc. But apparently she also likes biographies of women in hardship. She watches k-dramas alot and innocent westerns centered around young girls sticking up for herself.

Please anyone out there, if you have any recommendations for my mother. She keeps asking me for another audiobook

Unpopular opinion: Sylar lived way too long

Sylar should've died from Hiro's katana at the end of S1. He never should've gotten a chance to be an agent of The Company then break out of Company prison then continue to terrorise specials. Angela, he's a serial killer with superpowers... WHY DID YOU THINK IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO TURN HIM INTO YOUR SENATOR SON?

I wish my parents stopped having kids knowing they couldn't afford them

I'm the youngest of 4, they used to fight over money to buy school books for me. I remember looking at pictures of my oldest brothers birthdays and he had his own cake and a stack of presents. After every kid, the cake got smaller and then presents became non-existent. I used to put a teaspoon of salt in my palm and slowly licked at it because there weren't any snacks at home, sometimes it'd be powdered milk. If they knew they didn't have money, why did they keep having kids

Thirteen always had the best episodes with House

Pictured is Season 7 Episode 20 Changes.

First is Season 5 Last Resort which was the shows' 100th episode and ran for an extra half hour. Thirteen decided to be the lab rat when she knew she wasn't medically fit to be. She and House do some great trauma bonding here. Then Season 7 The Dig where House and she went to the spud gun contest. They go toe-to-toe in their bantering and then take turns being vulnerable to each other. The ending always pulls at my heartstrings. "I'll be there for you at the end, if you want me to," basically.

These episodes really made me love their relationship. I think he really grew to respect her. I always wished she came back earlier in Season 7 because that was when we actually saw them both be on the same level. They're both massively screwed up and other people can't truly understand what it feels like.

Anyway, just a thought. I'm rewatching the show, Thirteen and House were always my number 1 since I was a kid

Loose ends

Not necessarily plotholes, just some loose ends that the show started.

  1. Ava and her dad's ashes. Deb turned the bus around to get Ava's dad back from a dumpster. Ava scattered his ashes at the Grand Canyon and in the Mediterranean sea via cruise ship. We don't hear anything else about his ashes after this episode.

  2. Deb trying to get her memoir written. Tony Kushner was there to write her memoir in S5E01 but he was subsequently fired. In the beginning of S5E03 No New Tricks, Ava is writing a type of memoir with Deborah where Ava is corrected and Singapore Deborah was "so depressed she was reclining elegantly in cashmere slacks."

Hacks is my top 3 favorite comedys of all time. TV is supposed to be TV, there's bound to be focus on the big picture instead of the minute detail that only the obsessed fan will pick up one.
