Custom Domains

I just had a thought. Many people suggest getting custom domains, in case the email service is compromised or shuts down suddenly, etc.

Well, what if the domain registrar itself gets compromised or shuts down suddenly, etc?

The recent NameCheap event just got me thinking in that direction.

Caregiver (daughter) has MS

It’s me, I’m the daughter. My mom moved in with us years ago when we both felt great. Now, I’m struggling to walk, and so is she. I’m doing worse than her at walking. She is having so much trouble with her finances, and technology, and everything else. She needs so much help. But, I have brain fog, and trouble concentrating. I think her dementia has kept me so stressed out that it’s making my MS worse.

My husband works and does all he can.

She is also a covert narcissist, which has greatly reduced the chance that anyone else might want to help her.

I don’t know what to do

2 people, 1 login

My husband isn’t very techy, but I am somewhat, I guess… Is it possible that if I die first, can’t he just use my proton login to keep up with my email, SimpleLogin, & Pass info? I have it all very organized for him to use. My son would be able to help him. I mean, I even keep up with his passwords, etc. All his stuff is in my account as well. I just worry about leaving him a nightmare. He just tells me to “put it all on automatic”, but things change, and he needs access.
He doesn’t have a proton account of his own, so I can’t “share” with him, or even make him an emergency contact
Or is there something that says my account must be shut down after my death?

Alias Contacts Disabling

I was today years old when I discovered that not only can I disable Aliases, but I can get more granular and disable specific contacts within an Alias!!!

I have a “firstnamelastname.com” domain that used to belong to someone else. When I tried to use firstname@firstnamelastname.com, I started to receive their junk mail.

Now I can just disable the contacts, instead, so I can use that email. I’ll try it for a while, but if it gets crazy I may have to disable the whole thing again….

Custom Domain

Anyone else use a (lastname)mail.com domain? Like Gmail, Protonmail, Hotmail, etc… for example if my last name was Smith, it would be “smithmail.com”… our last name is short and unavailable by itself

Recovery Codes

I just removed my Authenticator app from 2FA. I am using 2 Yubikeys and 2 pass keys for 2FA, only.

This may be a dumb question, but aren’t the Recovery codes only connected to the Authenticator app, or do I need to keep them as backup for the passkeys / Yubikeys?

Recovery Phrase

If I keep a copy of just my recovery phrase in my vehicle, and someone got possession of it, wouldn’t they need to know it was for a Proton account AND also need my username in order to get access?

Problem reconciling

**UPDATE**
I fixed it by clicking on the “Repair Transactions” button under advanced settings. Hopefully everything else is ok

******************

This credit card account matches my bank’s balance, but for some reason it thinks my cleared balance is 10.81 more than it is. If I unclear the 10.81 transaction, it says it reconciles, but then it doesn’t match my bank balance.

Where did all my rules go?

I’m still fairly new, started 3 months ago, so maybe I’m just ignorant, lol….
I have some rules that only show up in the list if I specifically search for them in the “filter rules” box.
If I don’t search for anything at all, the only rules that show up are the ones that say “payee is ________ -> set category to ______”

They all used to be listed all the time (I thought so, anyways)

AchieveHELOC 1stPayment

We closed about a month ago, and Achieve sent the full amount of our HELOC to our checking account. We want to send approximately half back for later use, so that we’re not paying unnecessary interest.

We just got the transfer letter transferring the HELOC to Shellpoint. I tried calling that number, but they don’t have our information yet I guess. Our 1st payment is due on July 1st, and we are set up for autopay.

How long does it take to get everything set up? I was told by Achieve I could return any unused money through some sort of “portal” after just 2 weeks. I haven’t gotten any emails or paper mail from Shellpoint at all. I just feel as if we’re in limbo right now, lol

#tags

Trying to use words takes up too much room, imho, so I just use emojis. This way I can use more than one tag and see them all easily.
Anyone else do this? Please add your ideas/ screenshots to the comments

Cash Loans

We are getting money from a HELOC next week. It will be a cash deposit into our checking account. We will be paying off another loan, and then sending what’s left back to the HELOC account. Should I enter it as income? I mean common sense tells me yes, but it’s kinda like I’m just moving money around, so I thought I’d ask y’all

My shop is still fairly new (started last September)

I have quite a few 2026 printable planner inserts (Monthlies & Weeklies). How do y’all handle inserts like this that are starting to age out?

Do you leave them as is, and just add new 2027 inserts (but in separate listings)?

Or do you replace 2026 inserts with 2027 inserts (using the same listing)?

I am thinking about duplicating my budget, but deleting all transactions before 2020 or so. I’ll keep some off budget tracking accounts going back to 2012 for Net Worth type reports (that’s the data I have now)

Has anyone tried this, and do you have any advice?

I understand that I would need to figure out new starting balances, etc, to make it work right. It’s just I have so much history that even AB tries to freeze up on me.

We plan on using just a portion of our Achieve HELOC upfront. They are sending the whole amount to our account in early to mid May. I’m told we will have a “portal” to use

For all y’all who have Achieve HELOC, how does this work exactly? And how long does it take to transfer back and forth?
