I’m curious how many of us here have had a close encounter with death.

I wonder if everything we prefer/enjoy is actually escapism, things to distract us from the real purpose of life which is learning X. I say X because I’m not sure what the “real” purpose is exactly. I have lots of theories — 60+ years of study and theories. But it’s still a mystery.

Think about it. Movies. Games. TV. YouTube. Social media. Reddit. Sex. Sports. Alcohol. Drugs. Music. Art. Books. All hobbies. Boating. Traveling.

It all feels empty.

None of it feels like the real purpose of life to me.

Are we all just avoiding the real work? And if so, what is the real work? What are we actually avoiding?

It’s like in the movie “the matrix.” You are aware of the game. You have taken the red pill. But you are in between worlds. You are longing for the old world, but you can’t unknow what you have glimpsed.

You can’t leave the regular world. You have seen beyond it. You can’t live in your new world, you aren’t adapted to it enough yet.

People who have awakened, people who have NDEs, people who have OBEs, and people who have spontaneous spiritual experiences like a kundalini awakening, all have this integration problem. They have seen behind the curtain. Yet they can’t leave the stage.

It’s like Plato’s allegory of the cave. You got out and you saw the true light of the sun, but the people in the cave are still unaware and they are incapable of understanding or believing what you have experienced.

You aren’t ready to live outside fully. You still have work to do in the matrix, the cave. As more and more of us awaken in our own ways and as we keep speaking about our new and evolving understandings, more of the people who are stuck in the matrix will awaken too.

Hang in there. You are an important part of the process. Just your new awareness and you embodying it is enough. Each of us brings this world another step closer to the tipping of the scales and the inevitable mass awakening.

You are in the vanguard, a leader in the process just by your new awareness. You don’t have to preach. You don’t have to convince others. You just need to get comfortable with your new awareness and be a stabilizing influence on others who are still asleep and unaware.

Occasionally, you will find yourself in a conversation or in a chance encounter and you will hear or read something that helps you further integrate. Or you will be the one helping another in a similar way. Trust the process.

A friend from my teen years was passing through and he stopped by to spend the afternoon with me and my wife.

He mentioned a time that we were in his town and we got together. I remember having dinner with him and his wife. Then he mentioned going to an event with us. I remember the event but I don’t remember him being there. Okay, whatever.

Near the end of our visit he mentioned another trip where we reconnected. I remember the trip to San Diego for business. He then said I came up to LA and visited him on that trip. He remembers a bunch of details that I’m blank on. I think I’d remember a detour from San Diego to lLA even if it was almost 30 years ago.

I didn’t challenge him . I asked for some more details but nothing rang any bells for me.

I just chalked it up to a shift and some details that didn’t fill in completely.

I’ve been loosening my grip on things and I keep reaching new levels of spiritual awareness, but these glitches are adding up like crazy.

I was watching a Rick and Morty episode a few days ago and it was the one where some alien being showed up and inserted itself into everyone’s memories like he’d always been a part of their lives. I love how wacky R&M is. Sometimes they hit things right on the nose.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how could I know if my memories were genuine or if they had all been implanted and I actually just came online when I “woke up” this morning. There would be no way to tell.
