I followed Lucky's Dad rules and only one child cried!

The one who cried was the birthday girl (3) who was upset that she didn't get to open the final present (she'd spent the last few hours opening all the presents so was confused that there was a present for someone else).

Would defo do again. Make sure the kids know the rules before you start though or you'll have to start handing out $5 bills.

"Hey dad, so it's a bit inconsiderate you haven't died yet..."

My family have some strange old thoughts sometimes...

OK so my dad is in bad health and was contemplating voluntary assisted dying for a while. When things looked bad, there were discussions about The Will and it was looking like me and all my siblings were in for a big payday. But now he's doing a bit better which is good.

My brother... moved to another state and married into a wealthier family. He gets on really well with his new MIL and FIL, never calls or visits, makes it difficult for us to visit him (i.e. doesn't let people stay at his house, doesn't take time off work when people do try and visit, has on one occasion GONE AWAY ON HOLIDAY when I travelled specifically to spend time with him). A bit sad that I lost a brother like this (and I've never met his daughter) but that's life I guess.

But recently... brother has had had some mental health troubles, lost his job, voluntarily went into a mental ward. Now his in-laws don't like him all that much and want his wife to divorce him.

So... he called me for the first time in years. Says he plans on visiting Dad to ask him for $20,000 as early inheritance to help with the financial side of his life troubles.

Now am I the only one who thinks it's a wee bit rude to visit the father who you've barely spent time with in his years of declining health and hasn't seen his granddaughter in YEARS because you haven't brought her to visit and ask for early inheritance because "geez dad... thought you would have died by now..."

Strava billed me after I cancelled my subscription

Not happy with Strava after billing me AFTER I cancelled my subscription! What's worse is I can't find how to contact them to arrange a refund.

Can Strava let me know where to point my dispute?

Blocking but with different yarns

I'm knitting a kid's jumper and I'm using some leftover bits of yarn for it so it will be made from different brands of wool. There will be fair isle in the pattern which will hide the slightly different shades of black.

Should I block it? It could make the fair isle look better but the different yarn brands might react differently to the blocking and make the whole thing look terrible. They are all wool but brands include cleckheaton (country), bambini (merino) and heirloom (merino).

Whenever someone I care about loses a pet, I organise a whip-round to order them flowers to be delivered.

My mum's cat just passed away and I've ordered her flowers that none of my siblings wanted to pitch in for which I'm a bit miffed by, I mean MUM'S CAT DIED AND YOU DON'T WANT TO SEND FLOWERS?? But I also know flowers aren't exactly cheap and not everyone has $30 to spend on something like that.

Should this be a social norm? Is it already a social norm in your social circles?
