[Speculation] I feel like IONNA should be flipping their NACS to CCS plug percentages

Obviously Ionna has the stats for their users and I'm just an internet nobody, but as we enter MY27, there are going to be virtually no new EVs for sale that use the CCS plug.

Looking at the Ionna partners:

  • GM (Chevy, Cadillac, GMC), Hyundai (incl Genesis), Kia and Toyota (incl Lexus) exclusively ship EVs with NACS
  • BMW is shipping their latest high-volume EVs (iX3 and i3) with NACS + the existing i5
  • Mercedes new high-volume CLA and GLC Electric are both on NACS
  • Stellantis barely offers any EVs, but the Dodge Charger Daytona has NACS
  • Honda does not sell any EVs

And then you have Ford (new Fathom truck), Subaru (all vehicles), Rivian (all vehicles), Nissan (all vehicles), Volvo (EX60, EX50), and Porsche (Cayenne Electric), Lucid (Gravity) and Tesla (all vehicles) all in the mix.

By my count, the only remaining CCS models are Lucid Air, Audi (all models), VW ID. Buzz, Ford Mach-E (TBD), Volvo EX90 (TBD), BMW i4 & i7, Mercedes EQB, EQE, EQS, and Porsche Macan & Taycan.

So new vehicles shipping with NACS cover like 90+% of sales volume for MY27. Seems like a miss to be building out a new charge network that is 60-40 CCS to NACS. Would it not be better to flip that to something like 60-40 or 80-20 NACS to CCS and encourage CCS drivers to carry an adapter?

Otherwise, you are going to need almost all drivers to carry an adapter. Imagine pulling up to an Ionna station in your new R2 next year and having to wait in line for one of the 4 NACS plugs while half of the CCS stalls sit empty.

Big Adapter does not approve this message.

Heading to Norway from the US tomorrow for 2 weeks - Best way to watch World Cup?

As title states, hoping to continue watching World Cup while traveling in Norway. Are there any local broadcaster streaming options that a foreigner can use while in country?

Thank you in advance!

Have there been any updates on the Tesla Semi?

They said production started but I can't find any further articles or posts about deliveries, etc. Would have thought there would be a lot more coverage if fleets were starting to pick them up.

Dallas Is Becoming the Epicenter of U.S. Metro Fast Charging

There are 72 Ionna and Walmart fast charging stations that feature both NACS & CCS1 plugs either open or under construction right now in the Dallas metro. Adding in Superchargers (2nd image), that number rises to 119.

LA and SF metros have more, but those areas are way more heavily weighted towards Superchargers. They each only have about 20 Ionna + Walmart stations open or in development.

I'm not entirely sure how to interpret this, but it's interesting to see where networks are focusing their efforts right now. I'm bummed to see that Ionna seems to be almost exclusively focusing on cities at the moment -- very few new stations are going up along major interstates, much less major state highways. Especially after they started off strong with the I-70 and I-35 corridors.

The 2027 Model Year Looks (Mostly) Like the End of the Line for CCS1 EVs in North America

Looking through all the current announcements for the 2027 model year, only a handful of models are expected to still rely on a native CCS1 charge port, with the rest switching to NACS. The notable holdouts:

Ford - Mach-E (the only EV in the top 10 best sellers that will still have CCS1; new 2027 midsize truck will be first with NACS)

Polestar - 2, 3 and 4 (no 2027 info yet, but seems highly unlikely to change ports as they barely sell any vehicles in the U.S.)

Volkswagen Group

Audi - Q4, Q6 and A6 e-trons, GT e-tron

Porsche - Macan EV, Taycan ('27 Cayenne EV will be the first VW Group EV with NACS)

VW - ID.Buzz (the only '27 model year EV that VW will offer)

2027 Models That Are Currently Unknown ---------------

Cadillac - Escalade EV, Celestique (the Vistiq and Lyriq join the Optiq with NACS for '27)

Chevrolet - Silverado EV (the Bolt, Blazer and Equinox move to NACS for '27)

GMC - Sierra EV, Hummer EV

Mercedes Benz - EQ lineup, G-Class EV (some models to be retired; others getting heavy refresh for '27; CLA has NACS)

Volvo - EX40, EX90 (the EX60 ships with NACS while the EX30 is discontinued)

Brands That Are Expected To Be 100% NACS for 2027 Model Year ---------------

Acura (2027 RSX expected)

BMW (i4 and iX discontinued; i3, i5, i7 and iX3 all have NACS)

Dodge (Charger Daytona expected to return with NACS)

Genesis

Hyundai

Jeep (Wagoneer S expected to return with NACS)

Kia (Niro EV now discontinued)

Lexus

Lucid

Nissan

Rivian

Rolls Royce (Spectre II to have NACS)

Subaru

Tesla

Toyota

What I Got - Question on what Marty is doing

Very basic question I'm sure -- I have been learning What I Got from Marty Music's video and I am with him while he is teaching the intro and the generic picking pattern of the song. Then right at the 4:47 mark he really kicks it up a notch. My confusion is that I can't tell if he is still picking each string -- just really fast (I assume this is the case) or if he is now strumming.

As a relative beginner, I thought switching between chords quickly was a challenge -- but playing individual strings at that speed seems like a real challenge. Any tips appreciated

Considering the X430 - Couple Questions

My lot size is 0.6 acres, with an unfenced front yard, a fenced back yard and a ~10' wide area outside the fence in the back yard along the road. The front and back yards are separated by a driveway. I have a dog and a metal fence, so I don't want to even consider trying to use the the MowGate.

I was thinking that I would have two fact patterns:

  1. On a normal basis, I would have 3 total zones for the front, fenced back and unfenced back areas. The mower would be based in the fenced back yard, and I will manually let it out to cut the unfenced areas a couple times a week.

  2. When on vacation, I would leave one of the fence gates open and have it do all 3 areas on its own.

Is that a viable plan? Having not used the software before, I'm not sure if it's a pretty simple task to choose which of the zones will be mowed at any given time.

My driveway has a bit of a raised lip along one of the sides to make sure water funnels to the bottom. I would probably need to build up a small ramp for the mower to get over it OR I would need it to go up and around via my front walkway. Is it possible to designate a very specific channel for the mower to traverse between zones in that way?

I have two large trees in my front yard that produce a large tree canopy. Is that a problem with navigation?

Finally, any reasons why I should pick the Navimow over the Mammotion Luba3?

Looking for something smaller than my full size dreadnaught

Hey all, I’ve owned a Yamaha FG700S for a long time and while I love the sound, I’ve found that I really enjoy messing around with my son’s Loog 6 string acoustic due to the smaller size of it. It’s just a lot more convenient and easier to take camping or strum around in bed. But I do want something that sounds as good as possible for the smaller size.

I’ve found plenty of suggestions from the Taylor GS Mini to the Yamaha FS830. Anything else I should be considering?

I am a tall guy with large hands so not keen on a smaller scale length. Not sure how big a deal that reduced 2” is on the GS Mini until I get a chance to try it out. I’m also not a pro or anything, so price is a factor. $500-600 is probably my ceiling.

Thanks in advance
