New ocean generator creates steady supply of electricity using water temperature gradient. Desalinates water too. Storm proof.

A company has developed a platform that can generate electricity from the temperature gradient of sea water, and desalinize water on the spot.

The first prototype, tested in the Canary Islands, is functional, working, storm-proof, and the company is preparing to scale its deployment

They say it could easily substitute 25GW of fossil fuel generators in small island nations across the world.

More info of the prototype deployed (in spanish, you'll have to use auto-translate).

GAME DEVELOPER QUESTIONS: ALTERNATIVES?

I need to find game engines that are "EU friendly".

Right now the whole scene is dominated by 2 USA companies:

  • Unreal: Owned by EPIC, Tencent, etc.
  • Unity: Created by danish but moved to USA because greed. Enjoy the irony of danish entrepreneurs paying taxes in the USA to save money so they can get Greenland taken.

The alternatives:

  • Godot: which is opensource. Works well for Linux and Android. Wonderful for 2d but not as advanced as its competitors for 3D. I heard it's strong for multiplayer but I would love confirmation in that area. No royalties ever.

Yout thoughts? I'd love to go with Godot, but I am looking forwards to make some online games and I feel it will be an uphill battle...

Do you have other alternatives? What is your experience?

P.D.: The case of Unity is poignant as fuck. It should be elevated as the prototypical example of how rhe E.U. has mistreated is tech ecosystem, corporate greed, and the long term consequences of it all.

It doesn't get much more optimistic than a cosmic party saying "this is a happy world".

The off voice at the end says "Whoever you are, wherever you come from, [beer brand], get in!"

I recognize some patterns from the videogame Mechanicus.

Kinda fitting, since it was a game about the cyborgs of "the cult of the machine god" confronting the Necrons (mind-uploaded aliens). Both sides of the conflict historically influenced by the shards of their own machine gods, which happen to be members of the same primordial species, and both sides desperately trying to prevent the nightmares inhabiting the noosphere from coalescing into realspace.

I want to gather resources on passive cooling methods for homes, so I can then repack it into memes/infographics and make them viral.

Would help people avoid wet bulb events while saving power.

Anything you can send me, from types of paints that radiate more (not all white paints are the same), to any home trick you've discovered, to how to properly put tinfoil in windows.

Thanks!

Sometimes I think we should start sharing "apparently politically neutral" memes to timidly light some bulbs in some heads.

Keeping them as aseptic, and common-sense possible, so they are not rejected outright, to squeeeeeze some empathy and "hopepunkness" in otherwise doomscrollers. Specially leveraging any situations.

Heck, might even be a good idea to create a "meme team".

Example attached.

After all, every big tree started by being a small seed...
