"women's section" in clothing stores

This is something that always pissed me off, especially during winters. Do people think we don't feel cold or something? WHY ARE WOMEN'S FULL SLEEVE T SHIRTS/HOODIES MUCH MUCH THINNER THAN MEN'S? ITS NOT LIKE THEY ARE THE ONES WHO NATURALLY WILL FEEL MORE COLD. Sometimes the only good options I have are the sparkly cropped zipped hoodie and the rainbow + hearts thin sweatshirt. No shade to those who like it, thats great, BUT WHY LABEL IT BASED ON GENDER?

GOD FORBID I WANT MY CLOTHES TO KEEP ME WARM DURING WINTER AND FIT MY STYLE. I recently got very mad about this while browsing some spiderman themed clothes on a clothing website and of course, the men's shirts/t-shirts had cool, badass, spiderman related design and clothes while the women's had...one small pink web?

I have always wanted to check out the men's section in clothing stores but because of all the societal norms + having social anxiety it feels super mentally challenging to. Its as if people will start muttering amongst themselves as soon as I make my way over there (i know that wont be the case but it is an irrational fear).

Have you ever faced this? I'd really love to see what other people did in my situation.

Just too much in my head while doing math all the time

I've lately been prepping for Math Olympiads. I mean math is fun, and I genuinely enjoy taking my time to think about problems instead of the usual "just apply formulas" style of questions. Lately my marks in mock tests have been dropping...even tho the amount of practice I've put in has increased.

I blame my overthinking for this. While solving a paper, I am always ruminating about what would happen if I didn't solve any questions, didnt clear the cutoff, didnt do well, etc etc. I am so focused on the results and fear of failure that I lose track of how much I enjoy doing this, and the whole prep turns into an awful experience where I constantly feel behind.
Plus the slump I get into after awfully under performing in a test is a very mentally challenging place to be.

So, if you've been through this, let me know any advice you may have:D

How deeply do you like to study topics as a programmer?

Saw this video the other day of someone rejecting modern tech and teaching themselves C with an old computer, and honestly it seemed like a great way to learn from me. From day 1 I have always been inclined to read books rather than watching tutorials. 11 hr Linux course? No I'll js read 2 books on it. OOPs course? No I wanna read a book on it. Mostly because I feel like they have more info and explain things on a deeper level.

Now abstraction at some point will be important yes, but I HATE working with something and not knowing how it works under these layers of abstractions, I physically cant work with it.

So, I was curious if anyone else feels the same way, and whether or not y'all think this is a good way to go about learning programming. Share your opinions!

I HAVE FAILED THE BISEXUAL COMMUNITY

okay fine maybe a bit too dramatic of a title butttt uh let me explain
today, at school, one of my friends asked me the classic: "so if you start dating a girl, would that make you a lesbian while you're dating her?" now I've heard people on the internet always say no, that you're still bi regardless of who you date, and I said the same

But then she asked how/why, andddd she does take the time to know more about the queer community after I came out to her which always makes me happy, so I did want to explain so bad. I said how I'd still be bi because I would be attracted to men asw in general, but then she said "no but if you love your gf, you wouldn't like anyone else sexually/romantically right?"

And I just..couldn't explain, couldn't argue. NOT because I agree with what she's saying, of course, but maybe because I never heard the why myself. I felt so guilty afterwards for some reason :(

So, if you were in my spot, what would you have said?

edit: A HUGEEEE thank you to everyone who commented, I learnt new things AND feel more confident in my bisexuality suddenly:D

I think seeing a character like Reagan healed me a bit.

As a girl in STEM it is sooo refreshing to see her. A child prodigy, went to MIT at 13, unapologetic-ally emotionally unstable sometimes (idk if unstable is the right word for it, I cant describe it but I think y'all know what I mean), and the CEO of Incognito (for a little while atleast), in the most natural way possible. Nobody questions her because she's a girl, she never had to give a big speech against stereotypes, she was just the best and everyone knew it. I love the representation man

"yaar ye toh rat race hai ekdam"

I've grown quite tired of people saying this about JEE and CS. NOT because they aren't rat races, they are, but because this sentence usually comes from the very people who made these fields a rat race.

JEE and CS are rat races because people here are so desperate to jump on whatever train seems the most hyped or the most financially secure. Now dont get me wrong, ofc money is important, but the fact that someone who has never touched code, never explored the various engineering branches, never even thought about how JEE is a stepping stone, not the end of their career, is so quick to make this decision breaks my heart. I dont wanna sound like I live in a utopian world here, but passion truly does wonders sometimes, and we pay too little attention to it (not talking about the people who were forced to do this, they had no choice ig)

So if you think your future is gonna look like JEE -> CS -> Job, PLEASE reconsider, dont oversaturate this field for the rest of us who are passionate about it, and for heaven's sake take some time to reflect.

What if Connor isn't actually loyal to the cult?

Think about it, he definitely knew about the cult. All that "bob cats and bears" thing and the fact that he has been around for longer than Jack, so I think it is kinda obvious he defo came around it (I mean if we as Jack, a newbie, discover cult-ish/creepy activities within weeks, Connor must have come across it asw)

BUT, then the question arises that if Connor was in the cult, why did he ask Jack to take photos of them or kept pointing Jack in their direction?
Obvious answer: He wanted Jack dead. He was figuring out too many things, too soon.

What if though, he wanted the cult to be exposed? He actually wanted Jack to take photos and share it with the police?

Seems like a ridiculous thought, but the fact that Connor in Scratch Creek has said that he will expose the entire cult if he goes down, AND doesn't check the coffins we were hiding in despite being RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT. All the deaths we have in both games are by the cult members, not Connor himself.

Maybe Mitch and him are the good guys, they're just forced by the cult and will betray them soon?

I constantly feel super pressurized by things I love doing the most and live in the future.

I love math, I love programming, I love learning in general. But whenever I cant solve multiple problems in a row, whenever I just cant get it, I spiral so much, so hard about how I will even get to college if I keep on sucking at STEM like this (for some context, I will have to give an entrance exam, JEE, to get into a good college. That exam is not easy to say the least).

Atp I fear studying and learning just because how much of a rush I am in to finish the syllabus as fast as possible, all my peers are already so ahead of me (also, pls dont say "comparision is the thief of joy", it might be, but entrance exams, job interviews, and almost all career related stuff is you getting compared to a LOT of other people)

So yeah, I just have so much anxiety, stress, and pressure when I study or get questions wrong, I judge myself so harshly and start to spiral that I cant even study well anymore and I just CANT stop spiraling I dunno whats happening

Touchpad not working despite trying a lot of stuff

So I had this problem like last year asw, took it to an HP repair shop (my laptop is HP Victus), and it seemed to work for a little while but would occasionally gimme troubles for a long period of time, out of the blue.

What's happening: The touchpad doesn't work, the cursor doesn't move no matter how much I do. When I reset or follow a tutorial, for a split second the cursor starts moving like crazy as if its possessed or making up for the times it didnt move, accidently clicks on random shi asw.

What I tried: My F keys are fine, the touchpad is infact on and enabled, I tried uninstalling the ELAN input device driver and re installing, disabling and reenabling, restarts, entering my BIOS where it doesnt seem to work either (idk if thats normal since my external mouse didnt work either), tried disabling and enabling my touchpad, none of it worked AT ALL. Also tried to see if it works on my Debian OS (I have dual boot), and it didnt work there either.

It would be great if y'all could help me out here

Anyone suffering from impatience while learning Mathematics?

I often find myself trying to do as little amount of practice problems as possible after I study some topic so that I can cover a lot of the material of my grade and the higher grades (Im in HS rn), but then I'll realize since I did only a few practice problems, my grasp over the things I learnt isn't actually that strong, so I'll feel behind but still relearn, and the thing happens over and over again. Even while solving the problem, I feel like I look at the answer key very quickly as I'm in this constant rush/panic about doing good at the subject and just filling my knowledge gaps asap, which doesn't actually help me gain problem solving skills

So I'm curious, what did you do that developed your patience over time? Was there a strict time limit for which you must struggle for before checking the answers, saying something to yourself when you're under panic/stress, or something else?

THE PARRALELS BETWEEN IRONBARK LOOKOUT ARE INSANEEEE!

Holy shit I dont think I can stop learning more, whenever I think I know every little detail something new pops up. I knew the cultists were involved here, the same ones. BUT CONNOR AS WELL? MITCH TOO? Something was fishy but I thought they were just neutral about it or were trying to not get involved, but oh they are so involved.

Atp I REALLY dont care if the episodes are based on real stories or not, I just wanna know whats going on here! Waiting for more streamers to drop a gameplay:D

Trying to more deeply understand feminism, help me out?

I've always been a feminist, yes, but most of my life I just identified as a feminist, I never learnt anything about the subject, about its origins, about what it truly even means. Now since I have break from school and hence more time, I'd like to learn more, but I have been confused when it comes to what even is feminism.

I know it is advocating or atleast believing that women should have equal rights and are equal to men, but is that it? Is that the modern definition of feminism? Of course everyone has their own interpretations and slightly different beliefs, but what do you think is some ground truth that the ideology is about?

Because ofc wherever I go I see "feminism is believing women are equal to men", which I do agree with, but I must admit Im not fully satisfied with the definition.

Why only women? What about the other gender identities? Is feminism the equality of sexes and not genders?

Personally speaking I think perhaps I'd be more content with the definition/ideology that "feminism is the ideology that supports equality of genders", not "women are equal to men" because with that like I said you are leaving out other genders and sorta putting men on a pedestal? I mean you don't wanna bring any gender up the hierarchy, you wanna abolish the hierarchy completely (ig this point of mine is debatable)

But yea, let me know your thoughts, and if you have any advice/recommendation for someone trying to learn more about this topic then feel free to share:D

What was your biggest struggle with mathematics and how did you overcome it?

In my journey to become better and better at this subject for various purposes such as college, engineering, and Olympiads, I obviously often come across people who are much much better than I am. Maybe its my schoolmates, maybe some college students I find very intelligent, or straight up scientists/researchers and I usually feel very demotivated when I realise how much I relatively suck at this.

But, I never get to see people's struggles. You always hear people's best like them cracking an Olympiad or having a breakthrough in this field, never the struggles or the demotivation when they are at their lowest, which could be due to various reasons, maybe you're struggling to understand something, maybe you're failing a class, maybe you're at the stage where you have to put in 7-8 hours everyday and everything feels so difficult.

So, if you had any of those moments and would like to share a bit about them, I'd be glad to hear and I'm sure hearing about the hardwork that goes behind all those achievements would help me a lot:D

What's your fav calc YT playlist?

I'm gonna start learning calc soon, mainly for JEE but since I am in 10th I have some time and can afford to watch lectures that don't just throw formulas at me but also teach it beautifully, in a way that blows my mind off because from what I've heard, calc is genuinely a very useful and gorgeous thing

So, can someone recommend a playlist? I was thinking of either doing it from Mohit Tyagi, Maths Unplugged, or Professor Leonard (altho I think his lectures would be a bit too long since he has like 3 calc playlists iirc)

Preferring books over Indian one-shots, is it just me?

10th grader here who's trying to learn some pre-calc rn. Whenever I search up a topic, the first video that comes up is often some one-shot of PW or the many other JEE channels, I have also explored the lectures in paid batches, and often find myself completely unsatisfied with the way they teach.

Its like every 5 minutes they just have to crack an unnecessary and irrelevant joke or start randomly giving motivation. The beauty and geometrical intuition behind identities and formulas are almost never taught (even though it is SO much easier when you think of trig in unit circles and a coordinate system). Oh and how can I forget, the way they just ASSUME you're a guy by referring to the audience actively with male pronouns. I know these things might be considered a non-issue by some, and I can see where you are coming from,

But is it worth it to keep watching these lectures even after all of this and even though books provide significantly higher amounts of information? Personally, no. If the quality of these one shots and lectures were truly unparalleled, I would stick around.

But let me know your opinions!

Learning math is SO fun and captivating when you detach yourself from the results

I've been preparing for a competitive exam lately (JEE) and I decided to start with Math since I enjoy it a lot, lately I started DREADING the idea of studying it and honestly it made me panic more than it made me excited. Every question I couldn't solve became a blow to my confidence rather than a lesson

But today I just tried my best not to think about the exam at all, or my skill level, or any of the "what ifs" really. I'm naturally a very anxious person so the thoughts did come up sometime but overall, I have to say, that was the most I've enjoyed math in a while. I felt so alive and happy, and I did not want to leave at all

I don't exactly know what's the point of this post, just felt like sharing my experience ig:D

I'll go first: PB&J sandwiches, the tangent (trigonometry), and of course, bicycles
