I got tired of writing the same Java file-handling code, so I built a small utility library — looking for feedback

Hey everyone!

While working on my Java projects, I got annoyed at how often I had to write the same kind of code for everyday file operations and text processing. Reading and writing files, appending content, copying files, counting words, searching directories, and getting file metadata started feeling repetitive.

So I decided to build FilzaFiles, a small Java utility library that wraps these common operations into reusable methods.

Some things it currently supports:

  • Creating, reading, writing, appending, copying, moving, and deleting files
  • Creating file backups
  • Counting words, Unicode characters, lines, paragraphs, and approximate sentences
  • Replacing text in strings and files
  • Recursively searching by filename or extension
  • Inspecting file metadata

I have released v0.1.0 with a downloadable JAR. I also tested it with a separate Java application and ran 22 integration checks, all of which passed.

It requires Java 21 or later. It isn't on Maven Central yet, so the README explains how to integrate the JAR into a regular Java project or a Maven project.

I'd genuinely appreciate feedback from other Java developers:

  • Does the API feel intuitive?
  • Are there any design decisions you'd change?
  • What edge cases or tests am I missing?
  • Are there useful file or text utilities you'd want to see added?

This is my first release of the library, and I'm hoping to improve it based on real developer feedback. Criticism is welcome!

I really need an Abroad job or internship or atleast a few interviews

TL;DR: I'm a 19-year-old CS student (CGPA: 9.5) with ~1.5 years before graduation. I built a scripting language from scratch in Java to better understand interpreters and language runtimes. My goal is to get hired abroad, both for my career and to build a future with the girl I love. I'd really appreciate honest feedback on whether I'm heading in the right direction.

Hi everyone,

I'm a Computer Science student from India with around 1.5 years left before graduation.

My biggest goal is to land a software engineering job abroad. It's not just for career growth—I also hope to build a future and eventually marry the girl I love, so I'm incredibly motivated to make these next 18 months count.

Instead of building another CRUD app, I decided to challenge myself by building FilzaLang, a small interpreted scripting language completely from scratch in Java, without using parser generators or compiler frameworks.

I'm looking for honest criticism rather than encouragement. I'd rather know what I'm missing now than after I graduate.

How do I improve? I can do normal lip roll but the bass one sounds like hollow wet farts any tips to improve?I will say it rn if I try to pull air from the very corner of my lip it sounds like farts when I do from right middle it sounds like wet farts
