Are all job interviews unprofessional now?

I applied to an office job as I’ve just graduated from undergrad and am looking to gain experience before law school.

I was super excited when I got my first interview, only for the interviewer to come 10 minutes late to the Zoom interview, join using his phone, and also be driving during it. I struggled to hear him for most of it and the connection was also unstable the whole time. There was also someone else in the car during the entire 30 minute interview.

He also put me on the spot by asking me a question in English and randomly making me answer it in Spanish (I told him I was bilingual), while also giving me a bunch of highly specific hypothetical questions as the interview questions even though I told him I didn’t have experience in that field yet.

He proceeded to tell me that there would be a second interview in person…all for $15 an hour and a 30 minute commute. Needless to say, I withdrew my application the next day.

Are all job interviews like this now??

Graduate School Financial Aid

I’m doing my master’s at FIU, and I was admitted in July. I sent in my FAFSA in mid-June, but I don’t have a financial aid package yet.

With my SAI being $-1500, is it likely that I would be able to get the Graduate Need Grant, or would it be more likely that I’d be mostly taking out loans?

How can I myself stand out despite my low GPA?

I’m planning on applying to law school within the next year or so, but I’m worried about admission regarding my gpa (~3.0, but the LSAC calculation may be a bit higher since I have some A+ grades on my transcript). I’m currently studying for the LSAT and am aiming for a 170+.

For context, I was an independent student at a T10 university, and I spent much of my time working. I also faced a lot of racial discrimination that defined my interest in the legal field, which I’m planning on mentioning in my personal statement. The reason why my gpa is lower is because I developed an autoimmune disorder with severe symptoms that made it difficult to get out of bed. It went relatively untreated until this year.

I’m entering a grad program to continue the research on LATAM that I started in undergrad, and I’m a polyglot. I’m also using the next two or so years to work as a legal assistant. With a strong LSAT score and GPA addendum, how can I make myself stand out in my applications?

For context, I am an URM from a very underrepresented state. I was an independent student at a T10 university and I spent much of my time working.

In terms of softs, I’m entering a grad program to continue the research on LATAM that I started in undergrad and I’m a polyglot. I’m also planning on applying very broadly. With a strong LSAT score and GPA addendum, how can I make myself stand out in my applications?

Am I overreacting for cutting my friend off after visiting her?

I (20F) went to Latin America for an academic conference. About a year ago, I met a girl around my age visiting family near my college (one of her relatives is a professor there). We became friends over shared interests, and I sometimes translated for her when we hung out as she didn’t speak much English.

After a few months of talking daily, I mentioned I’d have a conference near where she lived, and she invited me to stay with her and her family for the weekend. I’d met them before and they were lovely, so after some hesitation I agreed (I was mainly hesitant because I didn’t want to be a burden).

My mistake was asking if she wanted anything from the US as a gift (which is common in both our cultures). She gave me a short, reasonable list of drugstore haircare/makeup products. However, her best friend (someone I’ve never met in person and is 6+ years older than us) caught wind of this and started asking me for luxury items (makeup, hair products, etc.). I wasn’t close to her at all and only knew her through my friend. The older friend later messaged me privately asking me to bring the most expensive iPhone and multiple sets of AirPods into the country amongst other electronic accessories, which I declined. She kept bringing it up anyway, and even messaged me the day before my flight to ask if I’d bought them yet. I told my friend, who said people often try to take advantage of visiting foreigners and to just ignore her.

Once I arrived in the country, I spent a week at the conference, then went to stay with my friend. On day one, she repeatedly asked if I’d packed my bags. I was confused until she clarified her older friend now wanted me to stay with her for the weekend instead (she didn’t have a car and lived 30+ minutes away from my friend). My friend had only mentioned that she wanted to hang out with us during the weekend. Given everything that had happened the her in the months leading up to my trip, I panicked, booked an earlier one-way ticket home, and blocked the older friend.

I cut contact with my actual friend for about a month. When I explained I felt uncomfortable being around her friend after that, she didn’t really understand why, even knowing her friend had been trying to use me to some extent. We don’t talk much at all now.

AIO for cutting her off?

Do I automatically have to refund this purchase for “not being as described”?

I’ve been selling on Depop periodically over the past few years, and I just had my first issue raised by a buyer. I couldn’t see most of the damages they listed because the app got stuck on a specific page whenever I tried to open the issue in the Resolution Center. It was a $20 jacket (originally $120, but I priced it lower since it had been used and I’m moving soon and needed to get rid of things) listed as excellent condition. It had been worn before, but there was no significant damage to the fabric or hardware.

I reached out to the buyer asking them to reiterate their complaint since I can no longer see it on my end. Since this is the only option I’m getting instead of a way to actually contest or show the item was accurately described, am I required to automatically refund it, or is there another way to dispute this?

Am I overreacting for quitting before I even started?

I (21F) got hired for a key holder position at a store (I originally applied for a sales associate position), and the whole process has been a mess. It took them a bit longer than expected to get back to me after my first interview, but I brushed it off. When they finally responded, they offered the key holder position, but I didn’t mind since it had a higher pay. My onboarding information was sent in without doing the second interview I was told I had to do, and the onboarding link they sent didn’t even work. After some back and forth trying to figure out the issue, the store manager said I was showing up in the system as a rehire, even though I had never worked for this company or any related stores before. Without acknowledging that I had never worked with them before, the store manager said their regional manager had “confirmed” that I previously worked at one of their locations in Ohio, a state I have never worked/lived in or even been to. I’m pretty sure it was a name mix-up in the system (my name isn’t very common in the US, but there are still people that have the same exact first and last name as me), but I didn’t see the point in explaining that since they already decided that I had, in fact, worked there before.

How screwed am I because of my gpa?

I am planning on applying to law school in the 2027-2028 cycle. I’m currently at a T10 institution and will be graduating at the end of the summer a year early, but my gpa is barely above a 3.0. I currently have 4 Fs on my transcript, but almost all of my other grades range from A- to A+.

I’ve dealt with homelessness, financial issues, and severe migraine and hypothyroidism while in school with little support which caused the dip in my grades. I know that my LSAT score will be the biggest defining factor and that I can write a gpa addendum, but are there any other ways to improve my profile within the next year or two before applying?
