So i bought it mid 2024, it had been running alright until a month or so ago, it started to randomly shut itself off when audio was played from the phone's speakers. It wouldn't happen everytime audio played, maybe twice or thrice a day at the start of when the issue arises. I asked on a mobile support subreddit about what could be wrong, someone said its probably because the battery is suddenly needed to send power to the speakers or something which causes old degraded batteries to shut off. And it didn't really do much, I just had to turn it on again and move on.

Also it's not a normal shutdown with the loading or something, it just suddenly goes poof.

It was only sudden audio at first so I could make do with having earbuds on, but for the past 2 weeks it seems to sometimes shutdown for no reason, actually no reason, it could be when I'm just slide switching an app or when I click on a video. It also persisted when i plugged it in. Also now since this more random shutdown has been happening, unlike before when just restarting it would temporarily fix the thing, restarting just makes it shutdown after a few seconds now, which is very frustrating, and the only temporary solution I found to it was charging it and leaving it alone for a while.

So I wanted to ask if anyone else may be facing a similar issue with the same model or a Motorola phone.

I use a motorola g42, bought it around mid 2024.

So basically the problem is (from what i've noticed) that when there is audio playing, sometimes my phone may suddenly shutdown, and its not a normal one where the logo shows up, it just suddenly goes black screen and i have to restart it.

It's been happening for about a week and half, maybe twice or thrice a day. I've seen it happen when scrolling youtube shorts, it doesnt happen on one short but when i scroll it plays the audio of the next short for a split second then suddenly turn off, but its also happened twice while the shorts or full length videos are already playing. It has also happened when i turn on audio for reddit videos, like it only happened soon as i clicked the audio button, it has not happened with a video along with audio already playing (unlike with youtube) yet. It also happened on discord when i play a video.

And it does happen even when the phone is charging.

I've noticed it hasnt happened when im using my earbuds, so im thinking it might be a speaker problem?

I've also tried soft-resetting my phone and even going through the all applications on my phone to see if theres a malware but i didnt see anything suspicious.

and it doesnt happen when im playing games or anything either and im not sure if it happens when i turn the volume down to 0, but i suppose i will try to see if it does or not.

can someone help me identify what the issue may be exactly?
