Familiar w/ Unity Lake State Rec. Area? I’m not. Anything I need to know before I book a cabin for a few nights this summer? TIA.

That’s about it. Browsing online for a high desert retreat for a few nights this summer, I ran across this spot out in the middle of nowhere. Looks perfect. Just looking for info from people who’ve been there before about the facilities, vibe, etc.

The Trammps — Disco Inferno

Like so many of the best of the best, it didn’t make it to #1 so can’t go up against the watered down disco hits in contention for The Last Song Standing. Gotta love that mirror ball, man. I think I still have one on the back of a shelf in the garage.

Barry Manilow concert ad —The Toledo OH Blade 4/26/1975

I was looking up old newspaper reviews for the 1975 movie Tommy and this ad was on the same page as one of them. Check out those ticket prices!

Kenny Nolan — I Like Dreamin'

Different kind of TGIF vibe.
TIL that he was already a successful songwriter, producer, backup singer before attempting a solo career. And that he wrote My Eyes Adored You (but it was written as “Blue Eyes in Georgia”) — there’s a little snippet of an interview with him after he finishes singing in this American Bandstand clip.

The Eagles — Already Gone (live recording 1976)

Critics loved it, always a hit at live performances, it’s one of my faves of theirs, but it didn’t make it to the Billboard Top 30 much less to #1. To each their own, I guess!

Arlo Guthrie — City of New Orleans

Steve Goodman wrote it, many have sung it, but this is the version I hear in my head when I think of the song. It’s simply perfect and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2017.
From Wikipedia: "While at the bar of the Quiet Knight in Chicago, Goodman saw Arlo Guthrie, and asked to be allowed to play a song for him. Guthrie grudgingly agreed, on the condition that if Goodman bought him a beer, Guthrie would listen to him play for as long as it took to drink the beer.^([3]) Goodman played "City of New Orleans", which Guthrie liked enough that he asked to record it."
