Well, it finally happened to me. I was just laid off from my Director-level role. My background is uniquely well-rounded because I actually spent years in sales and sales leadership before moving into revenue operations, CRM architecture, and GTM infrastructure. This gives me a distinct perspective because I understand the actual math of operations and enablement from the sales rep up to the executive suite.
While I am still very much open to the right full-time corporate role, this sudden transition has me looking into different avenues. I am thinking a lot about pivoting into fractional or consultancy work. I know I have the playbook to help startups and mid-market companies scale, but I have always done it as a full-time employee.
For those who made the leap to fractional or consulting after a corporate exit:
How did you land your first couple of clients?
Are you finding the market for fractional leadership sustainable right now?
Do you find it more or less stressful than a standard corporate grind?

I’ve failed at every load of bread I have tried to make, but these brioche hamburger buns came out great and were such a hit! 10/10 will be making this dough again and possibly other recipes with brioche dough 🥳

Sorry if this isn't allowed, but I just had to share what an incredible experience I had with this community.
I've been lurking here for a long time but am still pretty new to the rep world. I had been wanting a few bags, but I also have things sitting around that I wasn't using, so I asked the mods if I could make a trade post for some lab diamonds I had. They kindly approved it.
Two wonderful members reached out, and we ended up arranging trades. I'll admit, I was a little nervous. Trading with complete strangers from Reddit could have gone in so many different directions, but it couldn't have gone better. Everyone was kind, communicative, and honest, and we all walked away happy.
To make it even more meaningful, I was laid off this week. Because of that, I'm really not in a position to buy things I'd normally treat myself to, so these trades meant far more than just receiving beautiful bags. They were a reminder that there are genuinely good people in this community.

As noted I was laid off from my dream role after only 4 months with the company. I had finally gotten a director title, loved my team, loved my boss. But that’s startup life. (75% of my department got laid off)
My question is, do I keep it on my resume or take it off? I was planning on leaving it on but one of my old coworkers said it was so short I should take it off? The experience and impact was invaluable, I did a lot in 4 months.
Any guidance would be great, this is my first time being laid off.
Well, I just got laid off yesterday and this morning we ended up at the emergency vet.
I’ve seen this happen to multiple people, but for some reason, I just never thought it would happen to my dog. He got a large stick stuck through the roof of his mouth. I tried to get it out on my own and was unsuccessful and luckily they were able to take him in as a last minute drop off as he’s locking his jaw and scraping his mouth so hard with his paws he’s making them bleed more.
I know he will be okay and in the grand scheme of things that could happen to him that this is not that serious and something they see probably often but I feel defeated.
And I’m not looking for handouts or anything because we will figure it out. I have a savings for this reason. I’m moreso just feel like a failure now in all aspects as a dog Mom and as an employee and as a person. Really not how I anticipated these last 24 hours to go. So many uncontrollable things.
And I know being laid off and accidents like this happening are not a reflection of myself so I shouldn’t internalize it, but I can’t help it.
The good thing is, he’s still my happy boy! A little grump because of his pain but he even still smiled for the photo! ❤️
My role as well as more than half of my team (including my boss) were eliminated today and I was completely caught off guard.
I had been at the company less than 6 months (startup, yes I should of known), I was recruited in from a job with great benefits so I feel dumb that I left that job for this just to be out on my ass. I’ve never been fired, never been laid off. And I know they’re different things but being laid off feels the same as being fired,’maybe even worse?
I am so terrified of this job market. I have no idea what I’ll do with my time besides apply for jobs. And I know a good resume won’t be enough.
I’ve worked so hard in my career to get to this point. I have recieved nothing but glowing feedback my entire career so this is all so new to me.
I know things could be worse, and I don’t want to come off as a victim but I’m like disoriented. 😔
Any advice or words of wisdom? Or just kindness?

Atleast 3 times a week I am sobbing thinking about my dogs getting old and passing, is this normal? Does it ever stop? I know it sounds crazy but it happens every week, they’re like my children. They’re perfectly healthy, and young.
My husband said I’m-not allowed to watch sad dog videos any more of dogs getting sick or being rescued because it sends me in a spiral, and he is right, it does.
I love dogs, of all kinds, especially mine of course. *sigh*
