Inde Navarette casting as Rogue is lazy.
She was cast because right now she is an "IT GIRL" with Oscar buzz around her name.
Brown hair, brown eyes. Arizona and California based with Mexican and Australian heritage.
Marvel gave her fans priority over Rogue fans and they chose momentary hype over longterm dedication and comic accuracy.
Inde fans generate the hype and shout down Rogue fans. So Rogue fans have been cast aside for our own character and there is no harmony.
It is a clear greed move and shows that Marvel does not genuinely care about Rogue the character or Rogue fans.
Back in 2000, Anna Paquin was also miscast as Rogue. Similar formula.
Brown hair. Brown eyes. From New Zealand.
Cast purely on hype and Oscar buzz. She was their "awards girl" shoehorned into Rogue.
I'm tired of Rogue's character being the designated AWARDS GIRL insert.
Where Marvel have once again blocked out genuine potential live action castings that are closer to Rogue and DO exist.
So I won't support Inde as Rogue because she could have her pick of any character and chose the popular one over the right one.
Like at the beginning of the episode Exodus says he wants X-factor to release the captive mutants but then the episode turns into a court room where we're asked if the unrepentant lunatic deserves redemption?! He doesn't btw but I did enjoy the ending confrontation
When Exodus makes his demand it cuts to Pyro and that other villain mutant implying that X-factor only has criminal mutants, but we've already seen they've been rounding up kids as well. Maybe Jubilee got all the kids out but who's to say there aren't more kids and innocent mutants in those facilities?!
This episode was weird and half-baked. I get what it was trying to say even if I dont agree with it's message but the execution was just half baked. If we got more time to explore maybe it would've landed
Also is anyone else getting annoyed with the lack of world building in these episodes. Why is X-factor rounding up mutants? Are they refugees from Genosha?! Why were the X-Men outlawed? How's Rogue dealing with the loss of Magneto? You'd think episode 6 would be Rogues episode too.
I'm not asking for every small detail to be explained to me, but some context would be cool
Annoyed your favourite character hasn't done XYZ? Moved to press charges against a former executive producer because your favourite character had their lines and role taken by another character? Lamenting the departure of said executive producer?
Do you just want more episodes?
Then this megathread is for you.
In order to combat the repetitive venting posts about the flaws of this season, I'll be making a weekly venting megathread for people to air their grievances 1 day after a new episode comes out.
While I appreciate that everyone has their own thoughts on the season, let's try and contain complaints to this thread if it's already been discussed (like the episode count, or like your favourite character not doing a certain thing you wanted).
Does anyone else think the focus on Polaris is a little strange? Don’t get me wrong, I love Lorna. But she’s been given so much story, development, action scenes, more than almost the entirety of the season 1 cast.
She was in like 1 episode of the OG series - and we haven’t even seen Iceman yet outside of photographs. And what about Havok? They revealed her relation to Magneto, but are they ever going to explore Havok and his relation to Scott?
Idk, maybe I’m overthinking and they just want to sell more Polaris funkopops or something. Or they are building up to the Apocalypse “Twelve” story, in which Polaris was one of the Twelve mutants.
