NFA deregulation

I want yalls opinion on this. It’s obviously great news, especially for consumers. But is this essentially “monopolizing” the market to the named plaintiffs? Sounds like if you’re a FFL dealing in NFA items, you still have to do form 4s. Thoughts? Am I even understanding this properly?

SOT wait time

I recently got my 07. I went on pay.gov and paid the tax for SOT 2. How long does it typically take to get the stamp or approval?

Laser for Stainless?

I am looking at getting a fiber laser for engraving 17-4 stainless at a minimum depth of .003”. I don’t know much about lasers but I’m looking at the Monport 60w mopa or the xtool f2. Any advice? Or any other recommendations? Thanks in advance

Home based FFL IOI question

I just sent off my FFL type 7 application. I was able to include my zoning verification letter from my city stating that this activity is permitted at my residence.

My question is about the IOI interview. Do I need to have all of my equipment purchased? I imagine they understand that I’m not going to spend thousands of dollars on equipment before approval.

I have my secure area, office set up, bound book, etc. any other tips?

Budget cans in today’s market?

It’s been super interesting watching the suppressor market since the $0 tax stamp. Obviously 3D printed cans are all the rage.

Help me settle an argument with a buddy. Do budget cans still have a place in today’s market?

I think they do. I’ve been watching companies like Tuna Cans, and it is an appealing product for the price. It may not be the lowest back pressure or quietest, but it still serves a purpose, especially for cash strapped shooters.

For years the tax stamp has created an aura of exclusivity within the industry; so companies could name the price. I’m willing to bet for every new 3D printed company, you see a budget can company pop up. What are y’all’s thoughts?

Which machine?

I’m in the process of getting my FFL07/SOT2. I plan on making and selling suppressors. I’m starting the company from scratch. My product will be made of 17-4 stainless steel 1.625” round stock. I’m currently weighing my options between the tormach 8L or the 15l. Does anyone have any experience with either machine? I guess I’m asking is the 15L worth the extra $10k?

CF dad with one Vas Deferens

CF dad here 32M. So yesterday I had a vasectomy done. Doctor said at first it appeared that I had one Vas Deferens, but then he said it appeared I might have one that was atrophic. According to my urologist this is common in CF carriers. He also mentioned if you are missing one Vas there is about an 80% chance you are missing a kidney on the same side, as they both form together in utero.

I have an ultrasound Monday to see if I have one or two kidneys. Ive never had any serious health issues and am well aware that most people with one kidney live full and normal lives. But, if it is the case I have one, I will definitely be making some lifestyle changes to protect it.

Idk if this is the right place for this. Just wanted to share it might be worth telling your dads to check with their doctor.

Posted the other day about the feasibility of an embedded washer in a printed suppressor to act as blast baffle. The last pic where pen is pointed, is where said washer will be. Any feedback on design? I will say I think I have a lot of wasted space in the real chody part. Btw this is a sample cross section printed in pla.

Im currently designing a 9mm can inspired by the SAW Tisha. Mounting solution will be your typical 1/2x28 thread adapter.

My plan is to model a pocket that fits the perfect dimensions of a 3/8” ID 1.5” OD stainless washer. I will have g-code written where print pauses, insert washer, and resume print. The washer will act as initial blast baffle.

I’m really hopeful, but I’m worried about the thermal conductivity of the washer literally melting the pa-6cf. I’ve got a bit more time in fusion before I’m going to print. Thoughts on feasibility?
