Positivity thread

I just thought it would be nice to start a thread where we each post a positive comment about ourselves, and then we all reply to the other comments with nothing but love and positivity.

I'll start in the comment section.

What effect, if any, will Apophis 2029 have on us?

Since the asteroid will be passing us at around 19,600 miles above earth, which is underneath our satellites, will it have any effect on us? Would it knock out any communications? Have an effect on the atmosphere?

I'm not a scientist and I don't understand any of this, so please dumb down significantly for me 🤣

How does Slough compare to Swindon?

Essentially, I work for a national paper company, and my branch is being incorporated with a more successful branch in Slough, and I've been given the option of either moving to Slough for my job or taking voluntary redundancy.

Is it worth moving?

Guys...

Thanks. Thanks for all the posts, the comments, and the memes. 😁

You've honestly really cheered me up these last couple of days.

I've not been in a good place mentally for a long time now. I've got mental health problems that I can't attend to, problems with my social life, family life, work etc. (And yes, as someone commented, I am autistic)

But these jokes....this is the first time I've laughed in a long time. Years, maybe. I've laughed so hard that I couldn't breathe and couldn't stand up straight. I can't remember the last time I even cracked a smile before now.

So please keep the jokes and posts coming guys. You've made a very depressed person very happy for a while 🤣😁

Lindsay's supporters...

These women aren't really defending Clancy, they are defending the idea that women shouldn't be held accountable for anything, ever. Even death. Even the preplanned , premeditated, cold blooded, brutal murder of her own children.

That's what they're defending. Accountability.

What are everybody's thoughts on Pierrot The Clown?

I've developed quite an interest in Pierrot recently, the modernist version of him anyway. The version of him as an archetype of the outsider, failed lover, artist, melancholic, fool and person who cannot quite participate in ordinary human life. In a way, a prototype of the modern alienated individual. Lonely, isolated, always on the periphery. Someone who watches other people live their lives while being unable to truly live his.

And of course, I turned immediately to this song, and I listened to it like I never have before.

It just hits me very differently now.

What are other people's thoughts on this?

Japan's oldest person, 115-year-old woman from Nara Prefecture, dies

NARA, Japan (Kyodo) -- Japan's oldest person, Shigeko Kagawa, a 115-year-old resident of Nara Prefecture, western Japan, died late last week, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said Monday.

Fuyo Kishimoto, a 114-year-old woman in nearby Kyoto, is now the country's oldest person. The ministry said Kagawa died Thursday.

Born in 1911, Kagawa graduated from a medical school in 1934 and worked for about three years in the obstetrics and gynecology and internal medicine departments at a hospital in Osaka, according to a local medical association.

She opened her own clinic in Nara Prefecture in 1937. Kagawa continued practicing as an obstetrician-gynecologist and internist into her 80s, contributing to community health care. In 2021, she became the oldest torchbearer in the Tokyo Olympic torch relay.

Kagawa also served at the 1970 Osaka World Exposition, responding to medical emergencies.

In July 2025, when she became the oldest person living in Japan, she made a comment saying that she made house calls on foot, even late at night or on her days off.

"My longevity is rooted in my habit of walking so much for many years," she said.

Am I shadowbanned?

Is it possible to be shadowbanned in specific subs? My comments aren't getting any views in certain subs and it appears that nobody can see them.

What do you think was the single greatest line from the show?

For me, it has to be "Gone off Dawn now, have you?"

The line. The delivery. The reaction. Perfick.

Lee Vs Finchy

How do you think Lee would have handled Finchy, if he'd tried to put him down with one of his remarks?

Would there be a mutual respect between them, resulting in neither one of them trying it on with the other? Or would one have been more dominant than the other?

I can't imagine Lee being able to return any witty banter.

The warehouse staff really were a bunch of seedy little men

I know it was 2001 and it was the humour and attitudes of the time, but it really does seem like a turning point. It's like after the millennium, and September 11th in particular, attitudes really did start to change.

They really were sexist and seedy to Jennifer. And even in later scenes. "Taffy's got another funny video for you", "she'll get the old milkers out for a tenner", "always knew you were gay"....

Was Neil actually competent at this job?

He only got his promotion because David failed his medical check.

His branch was underperforming compared to Slough.

He's good looking, confident, charismatic, slick and suave. But is he all fur coat and no knickers? Is there anything of substance underneath the professional polished image?

How do you think his career panned out later in life? Did he become one of those "consultants" who get paid big money to spout jargon, but actually accomplishes nothing of task value for his clients? He seems like he might end up as one of those Dan Lok business guru types who shill shitty B2B courses to idiots.

I'm listening to Pyongyang FM right now...

...and it's exactly what I expected it to be 🤣

On another note, why are so many foreign stations broadcasting in English? Not just western pop music, the presenters are speaking English too.
