mnc company but small local team - yay or nay?

seeking for advise from people who have experienced working at an mnc company who just opened a local branch (small team pa), how is it?

is it kind of like a startup na hectic or still organized because you're under a foreign team? is the work culture okay? how about work life balance?

context: got interviewed by a recognized company but they're only about 15 employees here. has a country manager but my department will work under australians. thanks!

first-day jitters: from working mostly with women to working with men

hello! i finally got hired after 6 months of job hunting 🥹 good things come to those who wait talaga.

a month before my start date, the company invited me to a lunch meeting. i was able to meet execs from different countries and the PH team.

the thing is, i knew we are a small team pa lang sa PH pero i didnt expect lang that my workmates would mostly be guys and in their 30s-40s. at my last company, we were mostly girls. nashock lang ako and worry na baka i wont enjoy the working environment. haha im used kasi having a buddy to chika around, and all the girly stuff.

id consider this first day jitters because it's a new company, new people, and new thing to learn. it's a reputable company naman and i prayed hard for this opportunity. haha ngayon lang sakin nag sink in na im actually about to work.

any tips?

Pickup Coffee/STARBREAKER

hi! has anyone worked at Pickup Coffee's back office? i applied for a marketing position and would like to what the company is like.

ive seen some negative revies here but not so much for the officers/associates. are the employees really overworked/underpaid?

thank you!

how should i frame my salary expectations when i have a freelance job

hi! i have been attending interviews and nahihirapan ako iframe yung sagot ko when asked about my current/past salary

current: freelance part-time role - 10k
past job: contractual - 35k

the dates of the freelance and contract jobs overlapped, so i was doing them both at the same time.

ive been saying naman sa interviews na ill drop my freelance role once i get a full time role and that i should focus dun sa contractual role salary kasi it's more of a full-time setup. pero when it comes to salary discussions, they insist na i tell them yung salary ko sa both. im scaredd to be lowballed pag sabihin ko yung sa freelance.

how do you think i should go about this? should i just tell them? any advise to make my experience not seem like a red flag would be appreciated.

pursuing MBA as someone in their mid-20s experiencing an existential crisis

As the title says, im in my mid 20s + mid existential crisis haha. i have 2+ years of experience in creative marketing, 1+ years in marketing (internships). i graduated with a comms degree from dlsu and im not sure whats next career-wise. i realized that purely creative/production work isn't for me and want to pivot to more marketing/brand roles. but since i didnt graduate with a business degree, it's tough to land a job at a decent company.

That's why im considering taking up masters. i initally wanted to take DLSU's MMC but read somewhere that an MBA covers more business/marketing/strategy/manegerial. tbh im not 100% sure what i want to do long term- i just want to have a stable role with good salary.

Yes, an MBA doesnt guarantee me a better job or higher pay pero will it give me clarity/direction?

I searched na if i take an MBA w marketing specialization i can have different roles in marketing, brand management, etc. whereas with MMC, itll strengthen my knowledge and open up doors to marketing/advertising roles.

Which path do you think works for me?

To those who have an MBA, was it worth it? did it make an impact on your career? did it open doors for you?

taking mba as a communications graduate

hi! i graduated 3 years ago with a comm arts degree from dlsu. i did creative marketing for 2+ years and currently in the marketing field (entry-mid level). im thinking of doing post graduate studies, leaning more towards the mba track.

is it worth it? im taking it because i want to go up the corporate ladder, slight pivot to mainly marketing/brand management roles. and since i didnt finish a business course (tho i took abm shs pero i dont think it counts hahaha), i feel like mba is the move.

meron ba na same career path as mine who took mba? did it help you get roles?

hi! to people who graduated from or are currently taking marketing communications at dlsu, is it worth it? did it make an impact on your career? was it easier to find a senior-level job after taking the master’s degree?

i’m a dlsu communication arts graduate from 2023, and i’ve been contemplating enrolling because i want to break out of purely creative roles. i feel like marketing communications could help me transition into broader marketing and advertising roles.

hello! im 25F and have been looking for jobs for about 3 months already. i resigned from my last mnc job because they cant offer me a regular role, contract role lang. i wanted career growth and job stability sana.

lately, i have no luck getting any job offer pa and parang ang lowball ng salaries sa field ko given my years of experience (marketing) :((

a client reached out to me recently through linkedin for an independent contractor role. the team will consist of me, him, and one other developer lang. wala pa kami sa offer stage pero syempre im weighing na what's in it for me.

im aware na contractor roles get higher salaries and wfh but im afraid lang na yung goals ko na career growth and stability will be put aside if i continue. and the possibility na if i decide to return sa local workforce, hindi na ako employable since wala ako strong local experience.

any advise/thoughts?
