I spent the majority of my time in this hobby deathly afraid to jump in the painting side of things, but I finally decided to start working on my pile of shame and I will say I’m quite proud of myself. I obviously still have to apply to Word Bearers logo(how the hell do I use transfer sheets)and I’m gonna do some other runes decals, and maybe later attach some seals or something. But for the most part I think I’m happy with where he’s at. I didn’t end up doing highlights cuz I don’t really understand it and I was worried about butchering my paint job, maybe one day. I learned a lot just by finally jumping directly into it, foremost that doing trim is just as bad as everyone said it would be, and that I mostly DEFINITELY shouldn’t have painted my red panels before doing my trim. I’m currently working on my second model, this time I’m trying a dry brush of leadbelcher over the entire thing before I start base coats.

Constructive criticism appreciated!

I finished the base armor paint, and I’m quite happy with the results so far. I only really bought paint to do the trim and armor panels so I’m “forced” to take my sweet time on him, happened to have some Balthasar gold and tried it on the weapons but I don’t know how to feel about it, the chainsword is quite hard to make look good. I’m going to be picking up some tesseract green for the eyes which I’ll base with white first, but I’d thoroughly appreciate some paint suggestions for cloth and leather bits. Im thinking I want to try an old bloodied cloth look on the tabard with some scribble.

Currently working on the first layer of my first ever painted mini and I drastically underestimated how much I needed to thin my paints. Before I started a second layer I wanted to ask, how can I go about smoothing out the texture caused by the excess paint on the legs?

Heavily inspired by one of my favorite csm kitbashes ever. I still need to add some chaos seals and other bits but I’m beyond excited to start painting. I filed down the Aquila on the belt and was initially going to paint the Word Bearers symbol or the eightfold path symbol but I think I’d rather have a bit on it so that it would be slightly raised so if anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Inspired by one of my favorite csm kitbashes, he still needs some filing and smoothing out, but in terms of additions I believe I’m going to pose him on top of a corpse or the Castellan Crowe basing, then add some chaos seals, and possibly will be shortening the handle of the sword

Was hard for me to get better pictures due to its location and the amount of people in the store(accidentally went in on preorder day), but I had to share. I’m not a huge daemon engine enjoyer but this is one of my favorite kitbashes I’ve seen. It’s tail is the whip from a Ruinator, same place it’s top plasma cannon comes from, but do any of yall recognize its faceplate? The horns also look like they’re from the ruinator

I was debating on doing it but the “holes” especially the front ones, are especially small so I was worried about butchering the gun. Have any of y’all done so?

Still debating on whether to use Crowe’s sword or a flaming mace bit and to save the sword for a something else

Super nitpicky but after slapping it onto one of my legionaries absentmindedly I realized later that I have no idea as how to make this look decent/how to even paint it. Anybody used it and actually made it look good and can I see? If they weren’t so uniform I’d be inclined to paint them as horns or growths. Obviously looks are completely subjective but I had been looking up pictures of it and I only found people who painted it the same color as the rest of the pauldron

My first ever chaos legionaries are finally built and (almost) ready to spread the good word, soon to be followed by many many more. I want to go with some more subtle warp mutations on some of my csm’s, and I was rather proud of the demon hand holding the plasma pistol. I already added scrolls but I plan on eventually adding some books and seals (and possibly a plasma shot from the pistol) but this is it for now. Next up painting!

Additionally I wanted to ask do yall think anyone would take too much issue with me saying these are armed with plasma pistols and heavy weapons? I wasn’t super feeling like slapping a power fist on either of these gentlemen

FINALLY

I was wanting to kitbash a PM to look like this nasty fellow, it should be pretty simple once I get my hands on a mk6 helmet, but that’s where my struggle lies. Does anyone have any suggestions to where I could procure a couple beaky helmets?

Edit: I forgot to initially include, I found plenty of 30k helmets on eBay and the like but they were all much too small to look good on a plague marines
