youtube.comI graduated in the early 2010s. Did a lot at MSU go downhill over the past few years?
Looking at the top posts from the past year, it's endless posts about online classes, low-quality food, decaying buildings, no student engagement, and so on. Even RCAH closing their doors.
I wish I could show all of you Yakeley dining, what is available today doesn't even come close. Chandler Crossings used to have tons of restaurants and entertainment too.
I also saw this happen at my grad school (RIT) quite a bit over the past few years.
Looking for a Lucid commercial where it's night and there are two women driving on the highway in a jeep or minivan
I saw it on YouTube but accidentally skipped. Would anyone know about it?
The commercial is also relatively recent I think
Update 2 for working as a U.S. government patent examiner: I have been declared as the "genius" of my lab section. I barely put in any effort :D
Basically, I am an AnCap who took a job offer as a patent examiner since I couldn't find anything else. Decided to have some fun with it.
Background: https://old.reddit.com/r/Anarcho_Capitalism/comments/1sklovy/gonna_start_working_as_a_us_patent_examiner_next/ and https://old.reddit.com/r/Anarcho_Capitalism/comments/1t3tgc0/update_everything_is_hopelessly_messed_up_at_the/
After the last bureaucratic hurdle was cleared, I just outsourced most of my work to AI. I tune out during training lectures, then I use my phone to scan all the assignments into an AI program. The AI program usually takes 5 mins to process everything, and gets more than enough of the answers correct.
As a result, I am the first one to answer questions, and have always been at least 70% correct in my answers. Today, another lab section member said I was the genius of the group. On our latest assignment, apparently nobody was making progress and I said I finished in two hours (it took the AI 20 mins, so I actually exaggerated). I just shrugged my shoulders and said "I do what I can" 😄😄
You'd better be reading this, DOGE. If I get laid off due to automation, it will totally be worth it. I just hope I can find a good remote job after that.

reddit.comFrom what I heard about Prof. Sahai, he is known as one of the most demanding professors in EECS. Ironically though, he might not even be notable enough for a Wikipedia page.

>I am going to decline, though I accept it is an "edge" case. This particular faculty has no fewer than 38 "distinguished" chairs, so there is clear blue water between that cohort and all the chairs that have come from all the fundraising efforts on endowed chairs. The wording of criteria 5 WP:NACADEMIC indicates that named chairs need to be comparable to distinguished chairs, in other words if the there were few or no distinguished chairs and the level of achievement of that chair is in the same ballpark as a distinguished prof. Looking at the 38, there is quite a gap between the two cohorts.
So even his only major title, "Qualcomm Chair", might be more tied to fundraising than academic prestige.

rit.eduUpdate: I might not be banned for life after all. A PSA that AirBnB Support can be very inconsistent, FYI [USA]
Background: https://old.reddit.com/r/AirBnB/comments/1t9a83a/airbnb_is_the_worst_landlord_ever_i_was_off/
Basically, I miscalculated when I would get my first paycheck, and paid fees for staying a few extra days past the move-out date. I thought that everything had been resolved, then suddenly I got an email saying my account was deactivated.
I appealed, and they sent an email 90 minutes later saying my appeal was denied. However, I saw just now the website still says "Appeal in review". I called support about this and they say "Appeal in review" is actually the correct statement for now.
I can tell when interacting with them that they seem to use AI a lot, which gives very inconsistent info.
Any low-budget places I can live at for the next week or two in Alexandria/Arlington?
I just started as a patent examiner, and was living at an AirBnB. I miscalculated when my first check would arrive, and ended up paying extra fees four days later than my initial checkout date. Apparently, I am now banned from AirBnB for life, despite thinking I resolved my situation.
My current reservation ends Wednesday, and then I would have to find somewhere to live until I get a real apartment with the help of a guarantator, which could take time. I can spend $200-$400/week on housing.
AirBnB is the worst landlord ever. I was off financially by a few days, and now I am apparently banned for life. They need a real competitor. [Virginia, USA]
I found Restore Hyper Wellness, a medical clinic at Westpost. Just FYI that a lot of their treatments are not evidence-based, and cryotherapy is dangerous.

I learned since coming that most of the D.C. area was built starting in the 1960s due to rapid expansion of government programs. Meanwhile, Baltimore is cheaper, laid back, and has far more urban history. Charm City!
