Where should I go now in terms of their discography?

I posted here a while back, and decided to listen to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, which I needed time at first to actually understand it (not in a bad way, if an album confuses me like that, it means it's really good).

I followed this by listening to A Ghost is Born and that hit me instantly with those guitars and more looser playing.

Finally, I decided to finish with Sky Blue Sky, and this one was pretty solid, I was slightly disappointed as the change in style threw me off a little, but I overall enjoyed it.

With all of these in mind, I actually came back to each of them and listened to their tracks, my opinions changed on them, Yankee I completely understand now and is absolutely my favourite out of the 3, Ghost is second as some tracks I just can't get the feel of, I like them but I don't love them?, I think thats the same with Sky Blue Sky however the production on SBS is a little too dry and tight, I feel like it needs some of that looseness and I was missing the synths and other effects for this one,

however regardless of my placement they each have amazing songs: I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, Kamera, War on War, Ashes of American Flags, Jesus etc, I'm the Man Who Loves You, At Least That's What You Said, Hell is Chrome, Spiders (Kidsmoke), Hummingbird, Handshake Drugs, Theologians, Sky Blue Sky, Impossible Germany, You Are My Face, Hate it Here, Walken.

Overall, where should I go from here? I've listened to some tracks from Summerteeth, A.M, Self Titled, and the track Art of Almost.

Which Mix of i/o do you prefer?

I was just thinking as I'm listening to i/o more, and after listening to the Bright-Side Mix today, I overall prefer it.

It feels well... Brighter! and more alive and less of a sinister and dark as the Dark-Side Mix, which while is solid and was my favourite, I just feel the Bright Side suits the songs more, especially Olive Tree, Panopticom, and The Court, the only weak track I think on Bright Side is Road to Joy, Tchad's mixing feels a lot more pronounced and real on that one.

What do you guys think?

Heavily come around to Up + i/o

I was listening to a lot of the songs on these albums today, and something clicked. I'm not sure why, but I felt like I enjoyed them a whole lot more than a month back when I first listened to them, and posted my tierlist.

My favorite mix for i/o is the Dark Side Mix by far, I think it suits the album and PG's style a whole lot more, the album is a little too loud and in your face in my opinion, when I'm listening to the Bright Side, the DS Mix opens up the album and allows me to listen to the more intricate aspects and sounds more similar to how US sounds with its layers of sound, grand but also simultaneously subdued when it needs to be.

My favourites from UP are: Growing Up, Darkness, Sky Blue, I Grieve, Signal to Noise and More than This.

My favourites from i/o are: Panopticom, i/o, The Court, Olive Tree, Road to Joy, Playing For Time, Four Kinds of Horses.

My Attempt at Re-Arranging and Changing Dance into the Light and Testify's tracklist.

This is a kind of follow up post to the last one about Dance and Testify, I had thought about doing this for a while, as both the albums could've been trimmed a little, and some B-Sides were better than the album tracks, I just did this with Genesis' We Can't Dance, and so after a few revisions here they are.

Dance into the Light

🔽

New Run Time: 44 minutes 42 seconds

New Tracklist:

  1. Dance into the Light

  2. It's Everywhere (B-Side)

  3. It's in Your Eyes

  4. That's What You Said

  5. Love Police

  6. Wear My Hat

  7. Lorenzo

  8. No Matter Who

  9. The Same Moon

  10. Another Time (B-Side)

Testify

Original Run Time: 57 minutes 25 seconds

🔽

New Run Time: 49 minutes 58 seconds

New Tracklist:

  1. Wake Up Call

  2. Can't Stop Loving You

  3. Don't Get Me Started

  4. Testify

  5. It's Only Loving - Demo (2016 Deluxe Track)

Attempt at Re-Arranging We Can't Dance's Tracklist.

I've always been annoyed at how bloated WCD is in both tracks and lengths of some songs, so I decided to re-arrange /change and cut down the length of the album by nearly 20 minutes.

Here's what I've come up with:

I re-titled the album to Fading Lights

  1. No Son of Mine

  2. Driving the Last Spike

  3. I Can't Dance

  4. Jesus He Knows Me

  5. On the Shoreline

  6. Living Forever

  7. Dreaming While You Sleep

  8. Fading Lights

Considering starting a Daily Song Discussion of NO tracks and B-Sides?

Hi,

Would anyone be interested in this idea?

Also, when calculating the scores for a song is it just the mean score or is there another way to work it out, this is just my first time doing this?

Thanks.
