How long should I really wait to drink soda/carbonated beverages/beverages with citric acid, after getting teeth pulled?

Recently I went to see a dentist, where I got some teeth pulled out. They told me to wait at least a day before eating regularly again. However when I looked up results for when it was okay to do things such as drinking soda after an extraction, results would range from 48 hours to up to 10 days. It has currently been about 72 hours since the appointment, so I was just wondering what the best answer was, and if I should be clear to do these things, as I am someone who craves carbonated and caffeinated beverages.

Why do gender-neutral people use "it" as a pronoun?

I feel like it wouldn't make sense for the word "it" to be used as a pronoun for a person, as it's usually associated with things or objects, and not people.
