Mike Haggar, Final Fight

Liam Neeson famously takes down an international kidnapping ring to save his daughter in Taken. Denzel Washington tears his way through a drug cartel in Man On Fire for his daughter figure. Kratos wages war on the Norse Pantheon to protect his boy. The public loves stories about fathers stopping at nothing to protect their children.

So why are we on a third Street Fighter Movie and no Final Fight film!?

Mike Haggar is the original master of the Double Lariat, since stolen by Barry Burton of Resident Evil and Zangief of Wreck It Ralph, as well as thankless Mayor of Metro City. When Mad Gear's control of the corrupt elements of law enforcement and his own local government give them the confidence to kidnap his daughter Jessica to force him into line, Haggar instead decides that his new official policy on gang violence is enthusiatic and lead pipe based. Dispensing justice and piledrivers through the first three Final Fight games as well as being playable as his younger self in Saturday Night Slam Masters and in several crossover fighting games.

In his latest canon story appearances, in Street Fighter 5 he retires as Mayor and pulls some strings that allow his longtime friend Cody to become Mayor as his successor and later asks Lucia of Final Fight 3 to offer police aid where she can. While in Street Fighter 6 he makes no appearance but his statue is on display in Metro City, showing that even if he has walked away from public office, the respect of Metro City has endured for all the battles his fought to defend them.

In the non-canon Final Fight Streetwise, Haggar runs a gym and a fishing business on the edge of the city, slightly bitter that the city has forgotten him but he continues to help train Cody's brother, Kyle.

Man-At-Arms, Masters of the Universe

Stalwart, capable and ever present mentor to the hero He-Man, Man-At-Arms aka Duncan has appeared in some form of every adaptation of the Master of the Universe. Since those shows are fairly liberal with their stories he has had the hero Teela as a biological daughter, also the hero Teela as an adopted daughter, also the hero Teela as his adopted daughter but implied biological niece. And in the 2021 Netflix CGI show he was the same age as Teela and He-Man and had blue hair with no moustache.

Different interpretations over the years but his reliability and moustache are ever present! Except, not really, the original Man-At-Arms figures didnt have a moustache, leaving Duncan bare faced. Filmation added the moustache in an attempt to make him look more wise and fatherly.

Odlaw, Where's Waldo?

Dressed in colours resembling a wasp, Odlaw is a man so deplorable that his own mother cannot tolerate his company. Making it his mission in life to steal Waldo's walking stick, thereby gaining the power to open portals to wherever he desires, he is a near constant irritation to the man in the red and white stripes.

He lives in Odlaw's swamp with many Odlaw lookalikes and animals furred with his distinct colours.

Despite the original British release using the name Wally for it's protagonist, Odlaw is still Waldo backwards there as well. Presumably because it's not as hard to pronounce as Yllaw.

Mr Rime, Pokémon

Evolution of the Galarian variant of Mr Mime, this pokémon is a natural entertainer, inspired by old Hollywood actors such as Charlie Chaplin and also clowns, as evidenced by it's icy oversized tap shoes and the secret face on it's abdomen that you can occasionally see expressing itself as Mr Rime moves.

Vesemir, Witcher

The Last Master of Kaer Morhen, Vesemir has hunted monsters and trained Witchers for centuries, being an ancient warrior with more experience than most libraries. His character can roughly be interpreted in two versions. The traditional book and videogame grandfatherly warrior and Netflix's slightly more flawed version.

In the original tellings he's the ancient fencing instructor for Kaer Morhen, leaving him without the knowledge to create new Witchers and knowing that his way of life is in it's twilight years. Spending his winters in the old fortress and returning to hunt monsters each spring, he trained and named the famous White Wolf Geralt of Rivia and later, Ciri as well.

Netflix's Vesemir is somewhat less resigned to the fate of the Witchers in the show. Making a deal with Ciri to try and make new Witcher mutagens from her blood, deciding that the dangers of such experiments were acceptable for the potential gains.

In either case, a man Geralt listens to is definitely one worth attention.

Clone Zero, King of Fighters

Final Boss of King of Fighters 2000, where he was simply called Zero, he remains one of the few boss characters that wears a moustache and can cut you with his coat. He is first mentioned in KOF '99, where he betrays and kills final boss of that game Krizalid. In the next game he infiltrates the hero's organisation disguised as Ling while plotting to take over the world with his Zero Cannon and many Kyo clones.

His physical appearence was inspired by Han from the Fist of the North Star, with the names of some of his moves taken from the manga.

Largely seen by fans as a lacklustre final challenge, and with devs not content with his nature as an overly similar homage, he was revealed as a clone in KOF 2001 where the true Zero appeared with a far more honourable personality.

Ultimately, he is killed by Whip after revealing her own secret clone nature.

Mr Satan, Dragonball

Mr Satan, birth name Mark, trained in the Satan Castle Dojo ( meaning that SNK fans will recognise him as the Mr Karate of the Dragonball franchise ). Through a combination of legitimate power and blind luck, he became world martial arts champion... in the year where the Z fighters were either dead or in space. He has the strength to pull four buses and tear a phonebook in two barehanded, enough speed to dodge close range gunfire and, despite his own lack of belief, the bravery to stand in front of the monstrous Majon Buu and teach him what it means to be a good person.

He is known in the dub as Hercule because Funimation didnt want to cause controversy by having the World Champ known as Mr Satan.

In his later life, Mr Satan conitnues to be champion through tactics, typically having Buu fight his way to the championship match only to lose to the Champ's 'overwhelming power'. Inspiring the people, much to his vast financial benefit, and the social benefit of the Z Fighters who no longer have to risk their privacy everytime they save the world.

Omni-Man, Invincible

Father to the titular Invincible, Omni-Man first appeared in comics in January 2003 and has since gone on to be voiced by the great JK Simmons in the tv show and in Mortal Kombat, while Aleks Le voiced him in Invincible Vs.

Omni-Man was originally given a moustache because both Robert Kirkman's and Cory Walker's father had moustaches and thought it would make him look more fatherly, which would greaten the impact of story points later down the line.

Omni-Man is a Viltrumite which many fans believed to be a play on a philtrum, the part of the face under the nose covered by many moustaches but not all, but it was revealed by Kirkman in a Q and A that the name actually comes from an ingredient listed on the back of a deodorant.

Also, Omni-Man has become so prevelant after the success of the TV show, that when the episodic game Dispatch launched in 2025, many players voiced suspicion at the games Superman homage Phenomeman because he had a moustache.

Obelix, Asterix

Warrior, menhir sculptur, roman hunter, boar eater and dog owner. The other half of the Obelix and Asterix duo, the giant Gaul fell into a cauldron of magic potion as a child, leaving him permanently under its benefits of superhuman strength, speed and invulnerability, but leaving him unable to drink it for fear of negative side effects, much to his disappointment.

He now spends his days going on grand adventures and defeating Roman legions with his best friend, the warrior Asterix, and his other best friend, his dog Dogmatix.

Mr Monopoly

The Monopoly Man, "Rich Uncle" Pennybags, Gualtiero, Milburn Pennybags, Mr. World, or the Monopoly Guy. Names aplenty, he has graced board game boxes and refereed family fallouts since his first appearence in the game Dig in 1940.

Now referenced in everything from Ace Ventura to the Simpsons, Mr Monopoly's giant moustache is a symbol of his wealth and sophistication... and probably saves money having to avoid drawing a mouth.

He also appears in several Monopoly spinoffs, including but not limited to Free Parking, Dont Go To Jail, Monopoly Junior, Monopoly Deal and Monopoly Go!

Great Deku Tree, Legend of Zelda

The tree/dungeon to one of the best videogames ever made, and a reoccuring entity throughout the rest of the franchise. The Great Deku trees of the series are their to provide the current incarnation of Link with wise guidance and thier moustaches occasionally serve a doorframes for entrances to dungeons.

Which is fairly original for a moustache.

Dr Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik

The mad genius, theme park enjoyer, robot officiando, Olympian and egg salad connoisseur. The incredible Dr Eggman is one of the most famous characters in gaming, having endured from 2d Classic sprites to the modern day. Making countless state of the art machines to crush the annoying hedgehog and consistently improving the eggmobile so it's always faster than the blue menace. Seriously, Sonic is fast enough now to beat Perfect Chaos without super and he's still slower than the Eggmobile.

Recently celebrating his 25th year as an antagonist, Eggman and his moustache will continue to show the supremacy of machines for years to come!

Fun fact, he was originally designed as a pyjame wearing new mascot for Sega but they decided to use the hedghog instead, but seeing the obvious star power of the doctor he was made main antagonist. In fact being on of the few boss characters at the time to be fought for every boss fight. ( Seriously the Eggmobile can outpace Sonic and instantly install itself in many of his other machines, its genius ).

Oh and Sonic Team? Mean Bean Machine 2 and a RTS about building the Eggman Empire. Please and thank you.

Dudley, Street Fighter

The new boxer for Street Fighter 3, created to be the opposite of his predecessor ( Balrog or M. Bison depending on your region ), Dudley is the calm to his crazy, the sophisticated to his boisterous, the scalpel to his hammer. His moustache shows his class, remaining perfectly curled even when he's defeated or drinking tea.

With his gloves on.

And, as a bonus, his butler Mr Gotch also has a fabulous moustache.

Ocelot, Metal Gear Solid

Revolver Ocelot AKA Adamska AKA Shalashaska AKA Liquid Ocelot.

Introduced in Metal Gear Solid 1 as a gun twirling torture technician, he became a mainstay in the series under his apparently ever changing loyalties and mysterious plans in the background.

From memory he has served with the NSA, the Russian Army, KGB, Mujahadeen, Diamond Dogs, Foxhound, the Sons of Liberty and Outer Heaven. He was also possesed by a ghost at one point, exorcised the ghost and then used self-hypnosis to make it seem that he was still under control of the ghost before having a shirtless fist fight on top of a super weapon.

Wearing a moustache to emulate the villain in a western movie, it's a subtle hint that he's actually american and a mask of civility to hide the ruthlessness he has shown the entire franchise.

Though he is right, it is fun to richochet bullets in MGS3.

Wario, Nintendo

Reupload, had GIFs that didn't work.

Greed personified in plumber form. First debuting in Super Mario Land 2, Wario has gone from final boss on the Game Boy to heading both the Wario Land and WarioWare franchises. As well as being a regular fighter on the Smash Bros roster. More durable and blunt than Mario, it's only a matter of time before his lightning bolt shaped face fur joins the Nintendo movieverse!

As a sidenote, Nintendo once held a small poll about which plumber had the best moustache, Wario came fourth. Out of four choices. But then again Mario came third which Wario would be too focused on making fun of him for anyway.

Also, Wario eats raw garlic. Try to imagine that taste.
