A frustrating feature of Letterboxd/ TMDB
This is something I find particularly frustrating about the Letterboxd and TMDB, the lack of listings for alternate cuts of films. Sure, for some
I get it, some directors cuts change almost nothing but some are a transformative experience in watching a different version.
For example, I'm on a quest to watch every cut of Apocalypse Now, starting with Final Cut yesterday, '79 Theatrical today, '01 Redux tomorrow and the 5-hour work print the day after (or segmented across a few days) because there is something deeply deeply wrong with me. Now I feel these cuts change the film significantly, I rate the Final Cut higher than the theatrical though there's no way to show it and TMDB has rules against alternate cuts, but ironically, there have been exceptions to this rule within Coppola's own work, The Godfather: The Epic (aka "Mario Puzo's The Godfather: The full novel for Television) is in and of itself an alternative cut of two films but has its own listing, you can extend this example to Kill Bill the whole bloody affair (a far less transformative experience to the film).
Maybe adding the individual cuts (with the exception of the work print, which isn't officially available nor ever released) will do no harm, but then again, bigger issues in life aren't there?
Thank you for reading my slightly pointless ramblings.
ISO: anyone who owns the Shout Factory Deer Hunter
Hi folks, I'm looking for anyone who owns this version of Deer Hunter, I'm curious to know who the cover artist is and if it was also made as a poster (either by Shout or the artist), Shout isn't widely available in the UK, so it would be great if anyone could help me out
Replacement radio recommendations (UK)
Hi folks, I have a Mk4 Polo (56 plate), and I'm looking to replace the radio, I don't need anything fancy like a big screen or CarPlay, just aux in and maybe DAB. If anyone has any recommendations please drop them below, thanks.
Talk about no nonsense!
I've seen some bad menus and some barebones releases, but this one from Cinema Club (VCI) might take the cake alongside Boondock Saints!
Picked up Under Milk Wood, read it in 3rd year at Uni, quite liked it, read a few more DT poems, pop the DVD in and BANG! Fear and Loathing in Wales!
Still waiting on Possession and State of Grace but there's 4 arrived remarkably quickly
2 for £22 on Second Sight releases (which I have rarely seen in sale) and 20% off Second Sight box sets/ collectors editions (use code SECOND20)

Sure, Kraven probably isn't good, but when it comes to 3 for £3 who can say no? A DVD from 88 and an Arrow Blu-Ray though? Who could say no?
