I'm a Computer Science graduate and want to build a career in Scientific Computing/Computational Science. I'm considering pursuing masters in Computational Science because I really like this field, but I have some concerns.

I wanted to ask

• If it is reasonable for someone with a Computer Science background to study Computational Science, given that I would be competing with people from Mathematics and Physics backgrounds? I feel that Computational Science is much more closer to Mathematics and Physics than to Computer Science.
• How AI/LLM might affect this field, since it can make programming easier than it was before.
• Are there good career opportunities in this field in the current job market?

I was thinking about whether Pakistan's higher education system is actually as poor as it is criticized? If Pakistan is lacking in terms of education then in which areas?

Is it mainly related to

• Quality of professors
• Curriculum and course depth
• Diversity of programs
• Infrastructure/labs
• Research opportunities and funding
• Or something else?

I'm not talking about low tier institutes because situation there is extremely dire.

I will appreciate comments from people who have studied STEM both in Pakistan and abroad, since they can provide a direct comparison.

They are saving Username and PLAIN TEXT PASSWORD inside a freaking LOCAL STORAGE.

So I was waiting for OTP and it took more than few seconds. So I took peak into website storage in hopes of finding OTP inside it. Instead I found something else. lol!

So it is possible that they are not even creating hash for user password.

I wanted to gather some opinions from different people as to which browser we should use primarily while developing web applications for highest compatibility.

For me it is Firefox because gecko engine follow W3C standards strictly, and if my website works on gecko engine, it should work on almost every other browser as well.

I know most browsers are chromium based and chrome hold significantly more market share than any browser. But I think it is very easy to use blink specific features without even realizing it that it is not a standard at all.

I'm having laptop backlight issue after I updated to kernel gentoo-kernel-bin-6.18.43.

/sys/class/backlight/amdgpu_bl0/max_brightness is 65535,
Everything is working fine on gentoo-kernel-bin-6.18.39.

[0, 6200) brightness keep increasing. Then at 6200 it completely drops (lowest) and then keep increasing till 65535. But [6200, 65535] range is extremely dim as compared to previous range.

I'm playing DS remastered for 2 months now as my first souls game.

I'm stuck for 2 days now and don't know what to do next. Here is what have done so far.

Undead burge: Defeated Taurus demon and went to undead parish.

Undead parish: Defeated gargoyles and rang the bell.

Darkroot garden: Defeated moonlight butterfly, sif. Didn't found any new route to new place. Joined convent of Alvina but she never summons.

Darkroot basin: Defeated hydra and didn't found any new route.

Undead burge: Defeated Capra demon and went to depths.

Depths: Defeated gaping dragon. Didn't found any other route other than to blight town.

Valley of drakes: Killed all the drakes and undead dragon. And gate doesn't open.

Blight town: Defeated chaos witch quelaag and rang the bell which opened the door to sen's fortress. Went to demon ruins from there.

Demon ruins: Defeated Ceaseless Discharge and found another light to examined which I can't traverse because it was protected by some lord.

Sen's fortress: Defeated the golem knight and went to Anor's Londo. Also save a old man who seem to be master of one if my friend in firelink shrine.

Anor's Londo: Examined the light sealed by lord. Nothing happened.

Catacombs: defeated boss, got lost in tomb of giants. Found the light which I can't traverse.

New Londo: Can't open the door and contraption doesn't move. I was hoping to find a boss in that place but I was wrong. I also had to kill one if my friend who went missing.

Northern Undead Asylum: Also went there and defeated stray demon there.

Now my pyromancy friend is also gone for some reason.

I also has a item which says it will invade world of killer of fire keeper. But it doesn't even work.

Am I missing something? What I should do next?,

I'm a Computer Science graduate and want to learn Calculus and Linear Algebra. I have forgotten most of what I learned in Calculus because I took that course almost three years ago and haven't studied it since, except one time when I had to learn how gradient descent works in neural networks. I want to revise fundamentals and learn advance topics which might help me in the future.

For context I get confused when material is trying to explain with real world examples or analogies. Because now I have to divert my mind from actual concept to some analogy and then try to make relation between concepts.

My goal is to learn Computational Science. I know there are many Calculus books with different target audiences, so I will appreciate it if I could get recommendations based on my learning style and goal.

My goal is to get fully funded scholarship in countries like Germany, Hungary, China or Japan. And I have got almost no money. Only for IELTS and GRE and just little more.

I want to do masters in field of Computer Science from a good foreign university with good facilities which will help me grow.

I do not want to go abroad just for the sake of getting out of Pakistan. I really want to do research work, close to super computers or something like that. My interests are HPC, Computational Science, Simulations and AI.

My CGPA is 3.6 and studied from very mediocre university. But I'm pretty good in Computer Science and Mathematics. And still learning things which I don't know.

I just wanted to ask

How much chance do I have?

How I can improve my chances?

Where should I apply?

Which tests I need to give which are mandatory?

I'm using Gentoo linux with OpenRC, sway wm, and SDDM Login Manager But the issue is that SDDM doesn't doesn't start any WM with DBUS session running.

echo "$DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS"is always empty even though DBUS service is running.

Hi guys!

I'm a fresh graduate and have been trying to apply for jobs. Not exactly fresh, it is been 4 months now. But it is like no matter what I do, it doesn't work.

I have been working as a freelancer in different tech stacks as full stack web developer since intermediate. I have never met anyone who is as passionate about computer science as I am. I learn almost everything which interests me related to computer science. I always dug deep into the subjects which I'm learning and try to understand each concept to the core. Whether it is related computer graphics, computer architecture or neural networks. I scored A's in almost every computer related course I studied. Even few professors praised me how much complex and detailed my answers were in exams.

I thought I would be easily hired but my experience has been completely opposite of what I expected. The thing which shocked me was that I didn't even got a single interview. Not even for unpaid internships. LoL!

Can you guys please help me out? I'm ready to learn whatever there is to offer. But the problem is there are not much options here in Pakistan. Everyone is doing web development or mobile application development.

I always wanted to work on low level systems, do some system related stuff but there is no demand for it here in Pakistan.

I have AMD RX 580 4GB MSI Armor.

I tried to tried to flash VBIOS into it because I was unable to make driver working. But after restarting, graphics card stopped giving display.

I set iGPU as my primary display output, but PC doesn't give display with GPU installed and display cable plugged into motherboard port.

I don't have 2 PCIe slots either. So only method remaining are

1. Shorting 8 pin VBIOS chip

2. Using CH341A programmer with SOIC8 chip

I have never done something like this before. So I wanted to ask if this is even safe? Especially shorting pins if VBIOS chip.
