Recently started up my sub again, in preparation to renew for a year on Black Friday. I intend to keep LMU as my GT3/Prototype sim, and iRacing as my more spec racing sim (MX5, GR Cup, FF1600, SFL, etc). Some interesting “first” impressions after mostly playing LMU for those 2 years.
- watching other cars collide at high speed is extremely immersion breaking lol. The game starts to show a car flipping/tipping, then suddenly decides “wait never mind wheels never left the ground”. Laughably bad.
- The best FFB setup process of any sim. Natural out of the box, let the auto FFB config after a few laps, “simply lovely”. LMU was the exact opposite of this and took ages to get FFB feeling good.
- the HUD updates and customization are so nice. The style still looks a bit dated, but it’s nice and crisp and the customization should be standard in sims these days. Also means no needing 3rd party overlays, so can run full screen with Freesync 👌
- Same thing with the different control profiles. Should be the new standard.
- the GR Cup no longer behaves like a pogo stick.
- driving standards really aren’t any different than LMU, at least compared to split 1-2 in LMU. For reference I’m about a 2400 ir.
- not having a radar isn’t too different. It’s really just easier to avoid stupid mistakes from other drivers, or avoid a car that is losing control outside of your peripheral vision. It’s not the “easy mode” advantage people pretend it is.
- wanting to do a full season for a car you have and seeing you need to spend another $30-$45 for tracks on top of your sub to complete one season will never not be annoying as hell, same with having to buy Laguna Seca after previous paying for it through the sub. Let me drive these tracks offline when not having an active sub, and this wouldn’t be a complaint.
- loading times are just as bad as LMU 🥲
Looking forward to the future engine updates.
Hello everyone!
I had this issue happen about 6 months ago, and doing a repair Windows install fixed the issue. Now, it’s come back, and doing the repair Windows install only kept it at bay for an extra day.
When I launch the Steam app, my PC freezes, goes to a black screen, and then goes back to the Windows startup screen like nothing happened. Not when launching a game, just the Steam app. I can run Flight Sim 2024 from the Xbox app with zero issues, so I don’t think it’s a hardware issue.
Nevertheless, I used the AMD cleanup utility to do a fresh install of my graphics drivers, Windows is up to date, ran DISM, system file checker, and memory diagnostic, and all came up clean.
In event viewer, there’s a Kernel Power event, and that my computer has rebooted from a bugcheck, and the bugcheck was: 0x00000139. This appears to be a Kernel Security Check Failure.
Using the mini dump file I see something that mentions “Steamxbox.sys”
Anyone have any ideas on where to go from here?
Thanks!
So around 9 months ago, I suddenly started having an issue where my PC would restart itself whenever I launched Steam. Not even a game, just the Steam app. Could not replicate it in any other way other than opening steam. I could play games off of the Xbox game store perfectly fine. Had a much more knowledgeable friend come over and help troubleshoot, and we could see windows registered the event each time, but it didn’t really give us any real clues.
I did a Windows Repair, and it fixed the issue until now. It’s randomly started happening again. Nothing obvious has changed on my system recently that would be an obvious indicator.
Currently updating to Windows 25H2 in the hopes it clears the issue again, but does anyone have any idea what would be causing this?
Surely just opening Steam isn’t more intensive on my PC than running Flight Sim 2024 in 4K off of the Xbox games store lol
