Why Compatabalism is the correct view of free Will

The reasons our actions are free even though they are determined is because the persons will matches exactly what the person is determined to do. That’s why they can be held responsible, even if their actions were not determined, with that will they would’ve committed the same act whether the Will was determined or not. If our will was not the same as what we were determined to do then we could not reasonably be held responsible because the person has not actually committed the action. So when folks mock Compatabalists about being held responsible, they are not being coherent. Were they determined to commit the crime? Yes. Did they choose to commit the crime? Also yes.

God Determines Everything

Many Christians today teach that God has given us a libertarian free Will but it’s just not biblical. Isaiah 46:10 says God determines everything from beginning to end. If God determines the future, why wouldn’t that include human choices? Proverbs 16:33 declares that even the smallest most random events in existence are decreed by God. If God does not determine the future he Doesent even have control over what goes into his mind and is thus no longer soveirgn. Determinism is necessary to maintain Gods sovereignty.

Hell is not eternal and I can prove it

The Bible teaches that we are all given one life (Ecclesiastes 9:5) (Hebrews 9:27) and those who accept that Jesus died for their sins in this life (Luke 16:26) will evade the day of wrath (John 3:16). The Bible teaches that God is the one punishing people in hell (Revelation 14:10). And Gods wrath is temporary and not everlasting (Romans 2:5) (Romans 12:19). Malachi depicts what the wicked shall experience when Gods wrath is poured out upon them.

Malachi 4:1

The Great Day of the LORD

[1] “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. (ESV)

Malachi 4:3

[3] And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the LORD of hosts. (ESV)

Notice how it says the wicked are ashes underfeet, this is proof they will die in hell, this is why in the book of Revelation we read that hell is the second death (Revelation 21:8) (Revelation 20:14).

The wicked burning to ashes is also explicitly evinced in Isaiah 33:12

Isaiah 33:12

“The peoples will be burned to ashes; like cut thornbushes they will be set ablaze.”

Now, in The Bible, the terms “Never, Eternal, and Forever and ever” appear in our Bibles in relation to hell, when the Bible says the fire will never be quenched it is meaning that it will never be quenched until the wicked burn to ashes. Regarding Eternal and forever and ever, these are poorly translated, the older bibles used the phrase “age abiding” and “unto the ages of ages” rather than “Eternal” and “forever and ever”. You might say that these must be eternal because these words also appear in relation to heaven which is eternal but I would reply that we can know heaven is eternal because The Bible says we will be immortal there and the age we are in heaven is referring to the time we will be watching the wicked burn in Hell while we’re in heaven and once they all finally perish there will be no more death sorrow or crying and all the evil will have had passed away (Rev 21:4). I don’t think the Bible goes in detail as to what we will be doing after that point in heaven.

There is a lot more verses I could use to support the doctrine of annihilationism but I think the evidence I provided is sufficient. If you think I missed something or that I’ve got this doctrine wrong then feel free to leave a comment below.
