SCAR laser and pressure pad solution

If you’re like me, you’ve been looking for a good way to mount a laser to your SCAR but found it to be somewhat difficult. The reciever is too tall to reach the button ontop of the LAM with a normal firing grip so you try and use a pressure pad but the reciever is also too short to mount both on the top rail, especially if using a an LPVO or red dot magnifier combo and if I mounting it on the left side of the gun my hand would ND my light/laser all the time. I tried to mount the LAM on the side rail and the pressure pad on top but this only worked if I use a vertical grip. Since Im trying out not using a vert grip i found thag i fouldnt grip the gun well since the LAM now makes the reciever too wide.

After getting some inspiration from the VLTO SCAR handguard I figured I could get an offset pic rail mount and move the pressure pad off the side rail and up the gun a little. I looked at the options and found these cheap TruGlow offset mounts that both push the pressure pad up enough to clear my normal firing grasp, but also keep them nice and tucked into the rifle. I needed two for my IRIS-4 pressure pad but and I did have to reverse my PMM sling QD to push both far enough forward to keep my charging handle clear but otherwise it’s pretty slick. I just need to paint over the truglow logo

TLDR: TruGlow offset pic rail mounts put your LAM pressure pads in a really nice position to active with a normal firing grasp

My gun/clone wall

Gun wall from gallow tech. Half the guns here are still in some sort of WIP.

M27 w/RWK upper (RWK in WIP for proper length handguard and CH handle)

M18 pistol with M17 optic

M7 rifle

M17 pistol

USMC Recon M4 (In WIP for LaRue LT101 riser, probably won’t get thr razor 1-6 and will stick with the strike eagle)

Colt M45A1

M16A4

M9 pistol (on the work bench, waiting on wall mount)

USMC SAM-R early prototype (In WIP for a KAC M4 front sight and Harris bipod, also not the right scope but fuck finding the right one)

M16A2 w/M203

M16A1

I’ve taken a creative liberty here and there with some of the optics just due to cost/availability. Eventually I’d like to get the proper optics but for now I’m okay with the ones I’ve substituted.

Two stamp Tuesday ft. The shorted lived US service rifle, the M7.

I have access to all the available ammo types less the AP ammo (which I’m trying to get my hands on) so I’m going to be doing some testing and see if what folks say about the rifle is true. What questions regarding the rifle would you like answered?

Gun barrel FFL law effectivity date

Hey not lawyers, I sold a ram jet to someone in California and post payment, but prior to shipping, I was reminded the state passed some dumbass law that requires barrels be transferred in person through an FFL. When does the law take effect? I saw two dates, Jan 1st and July 1st. I want to make sure this isn’t a honey pot and Californian doesn’t try and sue me like they did Fudd Busters. The user I’m dealing with is new so it’s always going to be a little sus when dealing with new people without post history, but I don’t want to cancel the sale if it’s still legal and we have some time.

How my 6.8 Sig Spear came from the factory

Not only was the rail installed so crooked it almost made contact with the gas regulator, but there’s some Last Ditch WW2 Era Rifle levels of machining marks on the BCG. For a $4,000 rifle, and what’s being issued to our troops, this is pretty pathetic. Luckily I was able to fix the rail but I’m just going to have to ignore the amateur levels of machining on that BCG.

This is the 6.8 spear with a 13” barrel and it’s basically identical to what’s being issued to the Army. Sig QC strikes again

M7 and M17/M27 and M18

Just got the M7 in today. Folks at the LGS where very interested in it and made me shoot it for them to see how it was lol. I only shot brass case ball ammo but it was very pleasant and mild recoiling but I have some higher pressure ammo I’m going to try out tomorrow. I’m going to do some A/B comparisons between it and my IAR but I’m pretty sure we all know who made the better choice.

Spear is a .277 and a 13” barrel factory SBR with the 6.8 specific suppressor

IAR is a HK MR27 with all the correct fixins

Potential small nitpicky mistake in the new FN ARKA video regarding the gas system.

In the video Ian says the ARKA doesn't have an adverse gas setting and the gas regulator has 2 identical positions for future proofing and does not have an adverse gas setting. This is mostly incorrect. The ARKA has a very similar gas system to the SCAR which has a standard and suppressed setting. The gas regulator has 2 settings with the same size gas hole, however one of the settings has a 3rd hole and a vent path cut into the gas regulator and a corresponding cut in the gas block that vents off excess gas. This is how both the ARKA and the SCAR handle their selectable gas settings. This photo is from the new ARKA video and this regulator is almost identical to the SCARs.

Red shapes show the flow of gas when in the suppressed setting.

It does technically not have an adverse setting and both holes are the same diameter, but it is a multi setting gas system with two different gassing options, it just achieves the gassing by venting instead of restricting.

Now I couldn't see into the gas block in the video so there's a chance that vent path isnt cut into the gas block, but given all the info available Im pretty confident its there, also the advertising page on FNs website says its adjustable.

[Rifle] [NFA] Sig Spear 6.8x51 13" SBR $3723.68 shipped with code SALUTE

If you want a copy of the Army's next shortest lived service rife, this is the cheapest I've ever seen them. This is about as expensive as the .308 version.

If you could by a pre 1986 transferable MG what would you buy?

I might be able to get one in the not too distant future if everything at work goes well and would be interested to hear what folks would buy if they could. Im leaning heavy towards an M16/AR-15 lower for its versatility but theres some pretty cool looking FNC's

Moon’s haunted

A fun little spair parts clone I put together. Inspiration is the M16 used in the show For All Mankind and also the “Moon’s Haunted” meme. Only part that Thags not super correct is the stock has a big ugly Ruger logo and the upper I used is a C7 upper and not an A1 since that’s what I had laying around.
