3 Brothers [CRKT CEO]

2 CEO Compacts

1 CEO Flipper

(all of them are flippers)

Yes, I am a huge fan and didn't consider CRKT a quality brand until those knives. Elegant, snappy, blade doesn't wobble in any direction, easily concealable and the one on the left I "modded" (removed plates and grinded down the foot so they don't stand out, removed clipper). It now fits nicely in my very tightly packed EDC wallet.

I converted my CRKT Compact to a CRKT Ultra Compact, to fit it in my EDC Wallet

Wallet contains:

  • 6 cards
  • Loads of cash (actually I removed some after taking this photo)
  • Knife CRKT Compact (modded)
  • Fork (Aliexpress and hammered flat, made it a bit stingier)
  • Victorinox Card
    • knife
    • shears
    • file
    • toothpick
    • ballpoint pen
    • tweezers
  • Secured Datashur USB stick
  • BIC Lighter
  • Flashlight OLight EOS (I think the smallest one on the market with normal AAAA battery, instead of coin-battery or recharchable). Very capable.
  • Coin
  • Papers for my motorcycle (for ownership and mods)
  • Housekey
  • Prayer that I got from a former church.

All in a format that fits one of the front pockets in the trousers.

The purse is an aliexpress model. I bought like 10 different ones and most of them were too big to be comfy. This one here is the sweet spot between comfy carrying and storage room. Less than 6 USD I believe, you can find it when you look for "A6 Mini Size EDC Utility Pouch".

[CRKT - CEO Compact] I love that little thing! So snappy and still tight tolerances (no blade wobble) for $70

Looking for book recommendations

Hey I bought a Prusa Core L and since it's some weeks until it will be delivered, I wanted to read books about 3D printing, that are also kind of "up to date".

What filaments, what to know around 3D printing, the physics of melting plastic, printing with different colors and stuff like that. Maybe even some CAD or general tool recommendations.

Kind of a starter guide to send me on a journey I actually enjoy.

Anything you can recommend?

Is there any downside to getting the Core L over the Core+, apart from price? Is Core+ more modern? Will there come a Core+ L? INDX will appear later, should I wait for that and buy the complete package?

Sorry I'm a beginner, but I don't want to cheap out and get a shit experience. I read that Bamboo Lab is the best one for its price, but I don't want Chinese servers being able to see what I print and potentially forbid things I want to print at some point. 3D printing is all about freedom and I don't want something to interfere there.

On the other hand, I read that Prusa also isn't as open as they used to be. I don't know in what kind of regards that was meant. I don't intend to print weapons (I legally own weapons, that would potentially make the government take away everything I own), but does Prusa kind of accept/decline printings I want to do in some way? In my opinion, what I print is nobodys business and the printer itself should never "report" anything anywhere. I don't care about spyware in my network that does this anyways potentially, but I would not spend money on a device that does that all by itself, as I think it's already bad enough with the privacy invasion everywhere. Ppl who have nothing to hide should walk around naked, otherwise they are liars. Ooops, sorry for going off topic again. :D Please help! Any advice or opinion is highly appreciated!

EDIT: Bought the Core 1 L. Thank you all!

Is there a magsafe adapter, that I can use with the car mount?

I have 2 car quadlock mounts. I attack my phone for navigation. I am about to change phones and for the phone I will get there is no quadlock case and the universal adapter will be to clunky/big.

Is there some accessory for my card holder, that removes the classic "quad lock mount" and just provides the magnetic ring?

The phone will have an iron ring (and not a magnet, i assume), so the quad lock accessory should add the magnetic part. Just to hold, I don't need wireless charging. If I anyways have to use a cable, I will put it directly into the phone (most times I won't need it).

Hey I ordered the disc version of the Remake, but don't have a running drive 🤡 But there will be a steam key in it, right?

I'm still clever, right??

Are Seestar Smartscope images legit or AI scam? Seriously how can such a small lens produce auch images of galaxies? Where is the evidence, that these post-processed images, are actually your photos?

I mean, it's not like those galaxies look different every time, right? It would be so easy to completely make the images up and train an AI on solid images from Euclid and other "outer space" telescopes.

I'm torn between getting one now or wait for the S50 Pro.

Any opinions? Do you expect it to be far below Vespera in terms of potential? I guess at least the price will be way better, but it might take until end of year for it to come out.

Also other recommendations or "news" are welcome. Maybe the Dwarf 4, but afaik that one is not even announced.

Btw: I know you guys have a bias, but that's welcome! 😄

Or is it "buy two scopes if you want to do that" kinda thing? Because the very cheap SV555 already outperforms almost all enormous setups (in size/weight/price/result) out there, so why even bother getting a big scope and then using it for AP, if those small units already do a tremendous job?

Would you nowadays say, that if you wanna do both, get separate devices and keep one for visual only?

Is this even possible? It's mainly for visual but also for astrography (ignore camera stuff in the weight limit though).

I figure something like the AM3, a carbon tripod and some very well crafted APO refractor.

Would be curious what you would get if you had 5k USD of budget.

I'd appreciate replies that take the newest tech into consideration. To make the setup time as quick as possible (auto-align, goto, enter a planet and it should automatically aim towards it).

Tripod: TC40 (ZWO)

Mount: AM7

Will a slight breeze jiggle and wiggle the 160 scope like a roly-poly toy? Or will that still be solid for astrography use. Or would that require a heavier mounting setup?

I'm a bit unsure if I would regret "only" getting the 140. But I don't want to upgrade mount and tripod.

Lionsteel ROK. 400 USD, kinda underwhelming tbh. Are knife makers entering the fashion stage, where the price decoupled completely from quality? This is not my first knife in this price class that was kinda underwhelming. Actually, out of all my expensive knifes, it's a chinese we-knife that wins the quality contest by far. Closely followed by a cheaper Civivi that trumps all of my 300+ USD folding knifes.

I also have 30-40 honest Victorinox and Wenger knifes and not a single one of those ever let me down. They were all equally perfect right out of the box. All of them sub 100 USD (even the fixed blade ones), most of them sub 50, and absolutely nice quality and service. Flawless action. Here it feels like I bought some Luis Vuitton bullshit that cost me 400 USD but has a value of maybe 20. It looks nice yes, but stuff like that kills a knife as an EDC knife for me.

Or is this flipper action intentional, because losening the tension would make the blade wobble or some design mistake like that?
