Old nodes reactivation

Is it really that rare for old growth points to reactivate after a massive chop? I heard someone on this sub say that, but I recently cut back on my biggest pothos to get a bunch of cuttings in hopes of giving some tommy friends and use the rest to bushy up my own ones. But now he's activated like 4-5 old growth points, which I'm happy but also confused about, especially since I left it with a bunch of leaves so it shouldn't be lacking any.

Newbie with cape sundew

Hello, just got this beauty in the mail! All tips are welcome. Also it has some dead (rotten?) tips, is it okay to just prune the tip or should I cut off the whole stem?

Edit: sits underneath a growlight that's on for 12h. The temperature is around 22° celcius and for humidity, I don't know for sure, but I have no special humidifiers. Soil I also don't know, but I plan to water with distilled water as google told me to :)

First flower

I was checking up on my two Obtusifolias and the other one had made a bunch of new leaves. I turned to the other one and was like damn you did nothing all month BUT I TAKE THAT BACK, mama is proud you don't need any more leaves you're perfect just the way you are 🫶🫶

Pests or something else?

Rescued this one from a 70% off clearance section. It was pretty dehydrated when I first got it but now it's doing better and has a bunch of new blooms coming in. Anyway, I started inspecting it for pests to see if I could soon move it to a spot where it gets more light, and noticed these discolored spots? They are normal looking from up top. The first under leaf pic also seems to have some sort of scarring on the underside, though the pic doesn't show it too well... Also some leaves have small nicks on them, but those could just be mechanical damage from the shop as the clearance shelf was pretty stuffed full. I saw some webbing-like stuff on this earlier as well, but it wasn't sticky when I removed it, more like very very fine animal hair? I haven't seen any other critters near it other than fruit flies, which our house is currently full of 🫠

Thanks for your help in advantage! ❤️ Bloom tax included :3

How to go about cleaning leaves

Hello!

I recently bought two African violets to add some flowering plants into my collection of houseplants. I read somewhere that they don't like water on their leaves? So how should I clean the leaves of dust or debris? This isn't an acute problem, just wondering. Also any other tips with caring for these plants are also welcome!

Bought a manjula cutting

So, I'm fairly new to pothos but I'm quickly becoming a massive fan. I own the regular one and now these dozens of cuttings from one long vine which I bought from a neighbor I don't know too well. Anyway, I was wondering if this is some kind of a hybrid? Since the leaves seem to have two distinct ways of looking. Some of them have that very "painted" look (which I like) and others have that... Monstera mint-ish look. I don't mind either way, just curious since I thought that manjula was all about that more contrasted look over the minty one.

Variegated common plantain?

Hello!

I'm not sure if this is the right sub for this, but based on a quick search it seems like it.

I found this odd Plantago major in my parents' backyard, and I think it looks pretty dapper with this natural mutation! I wondered how I could possibly try to go about collecting and maybe propagating it. These plants seem to reproduce by seeds, but this particular plant doesn't seem to have that flower-like structure at all.

Thanks already in advance ❤️🌻

Standard poodle as a first dog

Hello!

Apologies in advance, this will be a long one.

I (20F) am moving out of my childhood home in a few months (hopefully if I can get a good apartment), and I've been suffering from a chronic dog fever for quite a while now. Thus, I've chosen that once I move out, I will be getting a sweet canine companion! My parents have cats so this hasn't been an option previously.

I've looked into some breeds I find interesting, and recently I've read about poodles. I'm decently active, I like long walks but feel stupid walking on my own, so a dog companion would be lovely to accompany me. I'm also interested in obedience and rally obedience, and from my research I've understood that poodles enjoy this sort of activities. I'm also very interested in teaching my dog all sorts of tricks and commands, and I've understood that poodles are good at learning those. I'm also interested in possibly attending classes for becoming a professional dog trainer, but I haven't fully made up my mind about that yet.

As mentioned in the title, this would be my first ever dog, though I've petsitted many dogs for short periods before. I live in a big city, but there's a decent amount of parks and even a dog park a short distance away. I will be moving into a rented apartment with a friend of mine, and we will be making sure dogs of all sizes are allowed, as she has a large dog herself (this is also why I consider poodles as they seem to be tolerant of other dogs).

I've read about the fur care and trims quite a bit, and I understand that it will be much work, as I plan on doing it myself. I am a trained hairdresser, so I'm somewhat familiar with some of the techniques and believe that I will be up for the challenge, though naturally I realize that with a dog it will be very different, that said I do have some questions.

Are the products used when washing etc carved in stone? What I learned by reading the official poodle club page of my country, apparently there's dozens different sorts of shampoos, and it's important to choose one based on the color of the dog? Are the different fur colors very different in texture and care too?

What about different haircuts? Will a short clipped look be very frowned upon? The poodle community in my country seems fairly judgemental of that, and encourages keeping it either like... roped(? Sorry, I'm not sure of the official term, komondor style) or on a show cut, like continental or English saddle. Those all seem too showy for me, and I intend the dog to be mostly a companion with some common hobbies (like obedience, I don't think I want to compete).

When they're a pup, do you need to be careful about how to cut the hair and neaten it up? I've understood so, but I'd hope for more clarification on what to do with it at that point. Naturally I will also ask the breeder once I'm looking at puppies, but I like to be well-prepared.

How long can they be left alone for, with proper acclimation of course. I understand that they need to slowly learn how to be alone, and I also understand that a puppy needs way more attention, with this question I mainly mean as adults. I've heard they're prone to separation anxiety.

I probably will have way more questions, but right now these are the main ones that I'd hope answers for. Sorry and thank you for your help in advance. And an additional apology if my English is bad, it's my third language. 🙏

Curled leaves

Hello <3 I have this peperomia hope who keeps getting these curled leaves... I tried to look online, but it says this would be because of underwatering? I water every time the top few centimeters of soil are dry, because I want to avoid over watering. She lives under a grow light so it shouldn't be a lack of light either? I read that mature leaves won't straighten even if the issue is fixed and I don't mind that, I just want to prevent this from happening in the future.

Tips and tricks are welcome, I'm still fairly new to the plant game ^^

Leaf spot disease?

Hi, newbie plantkeeper here. My mom bought me this Epipremnum today as a gift, and I highly doubt that it was from an actual flower shop. Is this leaf spot disease? If yes, what should I do? Thanks in advance ❤️
