A lot changes in a year.

Wasn’t it just yesterday when you said
that things were so grim,
that you were blinded by the darkness,
and you couldn’t see the path in front of you?

Wasn’t it just yesterday when you couldn’t
imagine the daisies at your doorstep,
the butterflies swirling around your head,
and the sweetness of cinnamon on your tongue?

A lot changes in a year.

Rebirth

Before I’m gone,
tell them about
all of my scars.

How you beat me
over and over,
but that didn’t matter;
I came out on top.

Before I’m gone,
tell them that
I’m a brilliant star.

That despite it all,
I learned to love big,
even without yours.

This Is How You Heal

Scream into your pillow.
Take deep breaths:
Inhale…now exhale.
Inhale…now exhale.

Put on your favorite happy song.
Dance it out in your living room.
Come on now!
Only your cat is watching.

Now look into your mirror,
even if it hurts.
Tell yourself:

I am worthy.
I am loveable.
I am enough.

I am never too much;
I was never too much

Mother yourself.
Mend the wounds
on the surface of your heart.

Embrace who you are,
weird quirks and all.
It’s never too late
to be who you are.

Restart your hobby,
be messy, make mistakes.
Give yourself grace;
be glad you survived.

Have a bad day;
a bad week;
a bad month.

Pick yourself back up.
Start again
…and again.
None of this is linear.

The trick is,
keep reminding yourself:
this is all worth it,
that you’re worth it,
until every bone knows.

This is my first time sharing. My partner says this is one of his favorites I've written, but he's just a tiny bit biased ;) Any feedback would be wonderful.

What did you wish you knew when you were growing up queer?

I'm a queer adult and I work at a nonprofit doing a lot of outreach to queer youth. I get asked a lot what I wish I'd known when I was younger, and it got me curious what other people's responses are.

So, what's something you wish someone had told you when you were younger? I'd love to hear other perspectives.

Prompt

Transform the uploaded image into a dense, whimsical 1990s Scholastic-style catalog spread.

* Center: the subject as a ‘featured book’ with a title, short caption, and a price badge. It should be cut out and made sticker style

* Surrounding layout: 5-6 smaller boxed sections styled like children’s book ads, each based on a different detail from the image (clothing, pose, background, mood, etc.) or something you have about me in your memories

* The surrounding boxes headers and texts should sound like children book titles with authors and genres and short descriptions

* Make the layout feel crowded and slightly messy in a realistic way:

* boxes should overlap each other

* some elements should tilt slightly or break the grid

* stickers, badges, and callouts should partially cover other sections

* Use bright retro colors, halftone textures

* Add nostalgic details like “Book of the Month,” starbursts, order numbers, and small cartoon accents.

* Include subtle print imperfections like faded ink, uneven alignment, and paper texture so it feels like a real scanned flyer.

* Keep all text in clear, simple English.

* Orientation: portrait

* Tone: playful, affectionate, and imaginative.

* Do not use copyrighted characters. All should be generic

* The color scheme should match the uploaded image
