x86 vs arm64

Are there any advantages to running Postgres on an arm cloud server vs an x86 one?

I am not referring to cost savings but performance and efficiency advantages where arm can provide benefits over x86 under any specific scenarios.

VPS for build server

I am running docker builds on my local machine and pushing to a self hosted registry running on a vps.

Im considering setting up a build server on a vps to pull the code from local and build and push to the registry, but I'm just unsure about the security of moving code to a vps.

Is this recommended or should I stick to running local builds and pushing just the images to the vps?

Tailscale vs SSH

On my linux vps, I have disabled password login as well as root login so only key based ssh is allowed. I also installed tailscale to connect over ssh via a vpn, but now I'm wondering if Tailscale is even needed. In fact, my thoughts are that it increases the attack surface.

In which scenarios would Tailscale make sense and Is key based ssh enough to secure a vpn or should I still add something like Tailscale or Wireguard?

Which server has fast enterprise storage?

I want to run a production Postgres instance and I am trying to understand which vps to use. Is the CCX range acceptable or does it use consumer storage? Is it better to use a dedicated auction machine with enterprise storage and how reliable would this be given the age of the disks?

Anyone running in docker in Prod?

I am running a Postgres instance in docker on my test vps and it works fine since I'm the only user.

I would like to release an app to the public and I am looking for options to host Postgres. My first though was to spin up another vps and deploy a docker instance. Is it recommended to run Postgres in docker in Prod?

There are quite a few managed options but they are rather expensive.

Wallet cases

Hello peeps, I'm looking for a flip/wallet type case for the S25 FE. There's a few on Amazon but I was wondering if anyone has a personal recommendation.

It's for my mom and I'm looking for something premium, preferably with a soft touch finish. Thanks!

Do paid accounts also get deleted?

I am running some dev builds on Hetzner but the cost is getting quite high due to the recent price increases. Oracle Cloud is an option but I've read some horror stories about free tier getting randomly deleted but do Pay as you go instances suffer the same fate?

Looking for Arm64 Ampere instance

I have a cost optimized Ampere instance at Hetzner with 2vCPU and 4GB RAM which is fine for dev/testing but I am looking for something to run production workloads on.

Hetzner has not had availability for months now and with the recent price increases, I'm considering other providers. I know Oracle Cloud has Ampere but I'm not sure how reliable they are and they seem to have a Pay as You Go model while I prefer a fixed monthly cost. Do you guys have any recommendations?

Looking for vertical monitor

I'm looking for a vertical monitor to use for coding. I tried my 27" 4k and while it works, it's a bit too narrow and tall. I suspect 24" would be too narrow and 32" too tall. High dpi is important. Any recommendations?

Monitor setup for agentic era

Hi guys and girls,

I'm keen to hear how your monitor setup has evolved to work with agentic dev.

I currently have a 27" 4k monitor and I feel like I need another one or two monitors. I tried adding another 27" 4k but the setup was too much for me and I started getting neck pains.

Right now I'm leaning towards getting two 22" monitors to add to either side so that I can have an agent on one of them and maybe code/browser on the other. Another option is ultrawide but I'm not sure if it's better. What do you guys use these days?

A57 vs S25FE for my mom

My mom is upgrading from an A32 which had served her well. She does a lot of whatsapp, like a lot, she's in over 100 groups because she markets for home based sales.

Other than that she uses some socials like Facebook and uses YouTube and Chrome quite often too. Maybe a game here and there too and some other apps.

I saw the A57 come in and it looks good enough for her but reviews say that the S25FE is a smarter purchase. Given her usage, does it make sense to go for the cheaper A57, especially if it drops in price, or should she just get the S25FE? I'm also a bit concerned that the more powerful cpu in the S25FE will lower the battery life but then it should handle multitasking better.
