Can you smell what The Peacemaker is cookin'?

Imagine if the hierarchy of the DC Universe changed... but in a much different way 😝

Had an old SHF The Rock head lying around I was never gonna use and doing a bit seemed as good a reason to use it as anything else. It almost doesn't even look like The Rock under the helmet lol

Catwoman height mods

Got the alternate head and didn't know what to do with the other body, sooooo I experimented.

The original figure has really fun exaggerated proportions that sell the character of Catwoman, but I think I've managed to make it look like there is an actual human woman inside the costume with the battle damaged version. I didn't shrink her much though. I trimmed the ankles, wrists and drilled out the upper diaphragm ball socket which allowed the corset to sit further down on the diaper piece.

Anyway I love both figures and both looks. My only complaint is the new battle damaged Catwoman has a tackiness to the paint that makes the joints stick and leaves my fingers feeling tacky when I handle it. Not sure what they did different between the two as they look like the same paint jobs but it's very obvious in-hand.

Mafex Peacemaker

This figure rules. Scales pretty good with SH Figuarts Superman 👍 (Superman being 6' 4" and Peacemaker being 6' 1")

Glad to finally replace the McFarlane Peacemaker 😮‍💨

Executive Replicas MADMAN

I was looking forward to the BigBadWorkshop Madman figure but OOOOOOH BOY this one takes the cake. It also feels more accurate to Mike Allred's iconic art style. I genuinely cannot wait this is such a great surprise!

Batman 89'

It's not 100% correct to this 89' comic look but man, the white eyes on this mask really does something for me. Instantly my favorite Keaton Batman on the shelf!

Robin Reborn II: Reborn Again

Still waiting on a fresh can of Mr. Hobby Super Clear Matte to come in to seal it and get rid of the shine, and I'll paint the neck in a flesh tone when I'm less tired but holy hell I might have my perfect 90's Tim Drake Robin finally 😍

I really wish we could have had one that looked like this instead of the weirdly busy armor look, especially since the comics the two they released were based on didn't look anything like that. Could have saved themselves a decent chunk of budget that went towards all new tooling. Still kinda blows my mind smh.

Movie 1989 head vs 89' comic head

I've seen a little bit of confusion/discourse around McFarlane using the orignal movie head for the new 89' comic Batman and I wanted to do a close up side by side so everyone can see how different they are.

The movie head is more rounded while the comic head has a straighter sculpt. The top of the eye holes on the movie head are flatter while the 89' comic eye holes are more slanted upward on the outside edges. The mouths are also obviously different and other small details are different too.

Anyhoo, if you were turned off of buying another Keaton Batman because they used the OG head, have no worries, it is indeed different. Unfortunately it still has the issue of the head looking wierd on the neck but what are you gonna do, ya know?

Stay safe out there!

A more classic Wonder Woman

Used the legs and torso from a Page Punchers Wonder Woman. Did a putty cast of the crest on the CE torso and trimmed and glued it to the PP torso. Decided to ditch the 3rd winglets on the bottom to differentiate it a bit. Used Atom-20172 gold acrylic by Ammo for the crest and belt. Also had to sand the belt down a bit since there was a big glob of paint on the front of it so it would have a smoother finish. All in all I think I can close the book on my classic McFarlane Wonder Woman custom.

I had sculpted a brand new girder belt for this project but tbh attaching it wasn't working and didn't look good so I decided to just stick with the belt as is, albeit with the little hook for her lasso removed.

Genuinely stumped

Anybody recognize this McFarlane hand? I can tell it's them from the size and the peg hole but I can't for the life of me figure out who it came from.

Edit: it looks similar to one of the hands that comes with Reeve Superman but I've never owned it.

Fathers Day goodies

Did a little Father's Day thrift trip, which was nice since as a stay at home dad my old thrifting days are few and far between. Got to knock some off the ongoing list and found a few that surprised me. Overall I am one happy camper!

QC vs Defect

I'm seeing this term being thrown around a ton the last year or two, so I'd love to clear this up with the community.

QC is the process companies undertake where they select a small percentage of figures out of the produced lot at random and run them through a set of checks to ensure it meets the standards they have set. If they pass the figures ship out and that's that. If they fail, they have to go through the process of resolving the issue.

A defect is when a small percentage or a few one off figures are either not functioning, missing parts entirely, malformed in the molding process or have paint defects. Just because 30 different people post on Reddit about the same issue doesn't mean it was "bad QC", as most figures are produced in the thousands. Say 30 people complain about a figure that had a production run of 3000, that's just 1% of the total figures produced. Now consider a general production run would be closer to 20,000 or more and that percentage goes down even more. Reddit can definitely make these issues seem large scale, but a hundred posts about issues with a figure may still only make up (give or take) 0.5% of the total production run.

I say this having spent years in the toy industry and seeing this process firsthand at factories in China. Just wanted to offer my two cents to help everyone get a better idea of how all this works, this isn't an attempt to call anyone out or demean anyone who doesn't know.

More Supergirl mods

Finished my first attempt at a cloth skirt using some fabric I picked up almost a decade ago. It's wired and I used heat-and-bond iron on adhesive to get around sewing since this was an idea I wanted to try out without a lot of effort. Will be making another one but I don't know when lol.

- The headphones/walkman are from a NECA 1985 Audition Marty McFly that I modified by gluing small circular pieces of plastic onto and painting orange.

- The coat is from a Toybiz Gambit and a placeholder while I source a better one. I found a great one on eBay but had my order cancelled because it had sold out.

- Sunglasses are from a Mattel Alan Grant and tbh it was the best I could source without spending more money.

- I cut her legs off at the top of the boots and swapped them out for the DC Icons 7 pack Wonder Woman upper thighs which I heavily modified to work with the McFarlane crotch system.

- Arms were shortened at the bicep and the wrist pegs were dremmeled deeper into the arms to sit further in. I'll be doing another millimeter or 2 on the right wrist since it didn't get in as far as I would like.

Overall, a lot of work for a figure from a movie I haven't even seen but the creative juices were flowing and I followed them as far as they took me.

Last picture shows her height next to Superman. I didn't measure the figure before the mods but as of right now she stands just shy of 6.5".

Lobo mods

I dremmeled out the wrists and ankles so the pegs would sit further in. Just didn't like the gaps.

I also glued his necklace into place because it refused to lay right.

Finally, Lobo inherited a leather jacket from an old NECA Terminator I had buried deep in a bin I rarely dig through. Turns out it fits great and does the job well enough for me. I just can't really get into the sleeveless duster look for Lobo.

All that said, this figure rules way harder than I thought it would. This was a wave I was going to pass on entirely but I caved on Supergirl and now Lobo, both have flaws but also kind of rule.

Mafex X SHF kitbash

I really like the Mafex Luke but wasn't a huge fan of the Jedi robes look so swapped his torso for the SH Figuarts Mandalorian Luke (two thin layers of liquid superglue on the Mafex torso/waist peg, allowed to fully dry between layers and before plugging in). Arms, legs, neck and head are Mafex, torso and shoulder ball joints are SHF and swapped onto the Mafex shoulders easily with a little heat.

Now I've got my ideal Return of the Jedi Luke!

Reissue one day?

Would love to see this figure get a reissue one of these days. The last reissues I got were Maul and Qui Gon and both are fantastic and it was nice to get robes with them this time. It would be cool if they checked out the aftermarket on this figure and did us all a solid!!

Sue Storm WIP

Took a long break from this project and the last couple days have made some decent progress. The boots now have swivel for better posing and I put together a Franken-head of a X-men 97 Emma Frost with Warbird hair. May abandon for something else (that new future foundation head is intriguing) but for now I'm happier than I was with the retro head sculpt. The belt and gloves are just white shrink tubing but I have some more coming without the hot glue inside the tubes that should sit more flush to the figure.

Paint job was just to see if I wanted to use this shade of blue and I just kinda wanted to see it all over before stripping it, priming it and repainting with my airbrush.

Recipe (so far)
Upper torso and shoulders - Marvel Select Invisible Woman
Lower torso and legs - Jada SF2 Cammy
Boots - Marvel Select Invisible Woman
Arms - Marvel Legends generic female
Hands - Marvel Legends Invisible Woman
Effects - Marvel Select/Marvel Legends

Superman the Animated Series style hair for Supergirl

In my efforts to change the hair options for Supergirl I was forced to go with glueing them in place rather than try and make them interchangeable, so for her other head option I took inspiration from the Superman Animated Series and dug up an old Marvel Legends Gwen Stacy head that had been floating around for years.

Went with the shorter hair version since I wasn't using it anymore even though the newer longer hair Retro card release would look more accurate to the inspiration behind the swap.

Getting there!

Used a GI Joe Classified Series Zarana lower torso (needed to mod with a Dremel to work) and painted up the Marvel Legends Siryn hair. Still planning to repaint the skirt with a brighter red (the paint I used was old anyway and didn't thin out very well) but the final touch would be finding replacement legs since I don't care for the shape of the stock legs. I just would expect Supergirl to have more muscle definition.
