What are the downsides to the 17e for normal use, and longevity?

Time for a new phone, and I'm trying to decide whether to buy the 17 or 17e. I only use my phone for regular smart phone stuff, nothing crazy. My only requirement is the 512G storage, which the e can have.

I'm someone who keeps their phone for as long possible, so would the longevity from the 17 outweigh the discount for 17e?

They really need to fix the tap to pay / outstanding balance card declined situation at turnstiles.

Both my credit and debit cards are now rejected again at the turnstiles, and typically only last a few days between reactivation and termination again. I think it might be an issue with a specific turnstile, but I'm tired of payments constantly dropping leading to card rejections.

The omny website is super glitchy too, making it very hard to pay outstanding balances and get the cards back in action.

How do you handle portfolios when your past work doesn't exactly stack up?

I work in content strategy, and I'm applying to content, marketing, and SEO-focused roles. Therefore, many places I apply ask for portfolios either of marketing materials, or old content.

One of the reasons I'm leaving my current job is because honestly the content sucks. The metrics that content and my team generates are great, and I try to stress that in interviews, but it's not exactly stuff I want to share with a future employer.

Making an entire portfolio of fake work just to check a box seems pointless. These places want real, tangible stuff they can use to assess past performance.

I'm not really sure how to get around this hurdle.

Took a sick day just for the interviewer to cancel 3 min before the interview.

It's virtually impossible to interview when you're supposed to be in the office 5 days a week. I was excited for this role, so I took the day off for the interview, but I guess I just blew a day instead.

My role doesn’t give me good material for a portfolio, but job apps want one.

I’m in content strategy at the moment, and have been applying to many content marketing jobs. There are countless transferable skills, but I always run up against the portfolio problem in interviews.

“What products have you marketed, and can you show us a portfolio of those projects?”

For me, the content IS the product, and my portfolio is just the websites my team makes content for.

I try to emphasize that fact, and our significant growth metrics since I’ve been in charge of strategy, but not having a portfolio or physical product attached to it all seems to be an issue.

It seems disingenuous to make a fake or unrepresentative portfolio just to appease the checkbox.

Any advice would be appreciated, maybe I just needed to rant.

What is the best, and worst car you've had the opportunity to drive?

Best: A Porsche Cayman S as part of the Nurburgring rent a car to drive around the track service.

Worst: A tie between my friend's Jeep Patriot, and another friend's Nissan Juke, both 2010-ish.

Does anyone else not really mind (some) CVTs?

I had a new Chevy Equinox rental recently, and I have to say I didn't mind its CVT. Quick throttle response, 30+ mpg in a big-ish SUV, and the first time the "auto-stop" feature at red lights actually had an instant start-up.

I'm not saying I'd want one in an enthusiast car, or that there aren't many God awful CVTs, but in a regular car I don't think they're the anti-christ so many car people make them out to be. I'd rather a CVT than a 10-speed auto jerking me all over the place with constant shifting.

If you have a unique job, you can kiss finding anything else goodbye.

The job I've had since college is somewhat unique, and doesn't really do things the way similar companies do.

Now that it's time to find a new job, I'm discovering that makes things very difficult. Do I have direct experience doing xyz? If the answer isn't a resounding yes, spinning your transferable skills doesn't get you very far in this market. They don't care how great your track record is if it's not directly in what they're hiring for.

The only friends I've seen get new jobs in the past few years are essentially doing the exact same job they were before, but for a competitor.

Does auto insurance extend to a rental car additional driver?

My partner is renting a car for us this weekend, however I will do most of the driving as an (authorized) additional driver. She has car insurance and will waive the rental's own insurance. Am I covered by that as well if I'm driving?

Company has laid off so many people I no longer work with a single person in office... but I've been denied more remote days.

Pretty much what the title says. Every single person I work with is either out of state or out of country. I come in 4 days a week, 50 min commute, to sit in a silent office with 4 people unrelated to my team. When I asked if I could drop down to 2 or 3 days in office, I was told it's company policy.
(Leadership is 100% remote btw.)

My dad removed me as a main driver of his car, am I still likely covered to drive other cars, or rentals?

I'm in the process of getting more info soon, so hopefully I can figure this out.

Essentially, since I'm now moved out, my dad decided to edit the family's USAA car insurance and remove me as a main driver of his car, since I maybe only use it once a month now.

I do rent fairly frequently however, and I want to know if I'm likely still covered for that, or driving my partner's car.

Thanks! I know this question is a bit vague.

I thought tuxedo shirts couldn't have visible, normal dress shirt buttons? Has that changed?

I'm buying a tux for an upcoming event, and trying to keep the budget reasonable. However, tons of cheaper tuxedo shirt options are showing up essentially as regular dress shirts just with french cuffs. I thought normal dress shirt buttons were a huge fashion "no" for a tuxedo shirt?

I've taught a few private lessons, and I want to start doing more sessions / getting more clients. I want to know how other coaches deal with cage fees / pricing?

I live in a big city, which means you either have to jockey for limited and expensive cage time, or hope you can nab one of a limited number of public park spaces.

How do you budget cage fees? Adding $70 for a 1/2 hour cage rental on top of the price of a lesson makes for quite a pricey fee to charge parents. That seems wrong somehow? I certainly never shelled out $100+ for a 1/2 hour lesson growing up.

Any tips for that, on top of managing scheduling with students on top of reserving cages would be greatly appreciated.
