Roman armour (Lorica Segmentata) found at Corbridge near Hadrian’s Wall

Visited Corbridge Roman fort and settlement today and the highlight for me was seeing this armour. The museum claimed it’s one of the best preserved of its kind so a bit of a treat if true!

Were any of the accusations against the Templars true? Did Philip IV of France have an agenda or motivations against the Order?

I picked up Christopher Tyerman’s book on the history of the crusades and there’s a small section on the trial of the Templars so would love to learn more!

Bug spray, mint shower gel, repellent bracelet, and dragonfly clipped to my hat and still a tasty feast for the insects

I’ve counted 49 on my right leg alone. It’s what I get for wearing sandals to avoid sand in my shoes at the beach (something I think Anakin would agree with me).

Well done for the support, can’t wait for tomorrow

I hadn’t the money or the access for tickets for the final but it was a great atmosphere and it was a credit to the club. I could you all cheering for each foul and corner and big tackle.

I hope that even though the game ended not at not the result at we hoped, you get home in for the time the parade. And if not, drink those bars dry still! Come on you COYG!

Moving house to a home far, far away

Moving house has made me realise I’ve accumulated a far few Star Wars books over the years (and that I can’t draw Yoda). Perhaps the box that took me the longest pack as I read each blurb, so many good stories.

Henry On Tour: Digital Visualisation of Henry VIII's Visit to Lyddington in 1541

I came across this interesting project called Henry On Tour which is researching Henry VIII's progresses. It is mapping the complete itinerary, including the routes, places visited, and landscapes they would have passed through. They have a cool website with blogs but also this digital visualisation of Henry's visit to Lyddington in 1541. If you go to the website, you can click on each marker and learn why they included it. There's also a viritual tour of Acton Court which was visited by Henry and Anne Boleyn as part of a progress in the 1530s. Thought people may find the digital archaeology work interesting!
