Surface Crochet Methods

Surface Crochet Methods

I'm making a Christmas blanket for my sister and planning to put the initials of each family member on a stocking shape. Problem is, she's currently pregnant and doesn't have a name for the baby yet. Is there a good way to surface crochet on top of a section of fully double crochets? I was thinking of just wrapping 2 sc around each dc post in the shape of the letters, if that makes sense. Thanks!

Edit to add the original mosaic letter plan:

Attic Insulation

With the rising heating costs coming up, I'm thinking of adding some insulation to my attic. I'm not eligible for mass save, but my town does have a rebate up to $2k. Has anyone hired someone to add insulation in an attic? How much did it cost per sq ft? (I'm only doing around 500 sqft) Do you have a recommended installer? Thanks

Recipe Question

I'm making these Greek potatoes from the Mediterranean dish, and I'm wondering where the liquid is supposed to go. Are the potatoes supposed to absorb all the broth? Should I be poking holes in the foil covering the dish during the initial bake so it steams off? Do I drain it?

Thanks

House Cleaning

I'm currently on leave from work for burnout/stress and a result of that I haven't been keeping my house as clean as I like/normally would. Can anyone recommend a house cleaner who won't judge me and could do a deep clean? 2BR, 1 bath, kitchen, and living room, ~1000sq ft. Potential for regular ongoing service after.

Located in Ipswich.

Parking Payment Options

I don't always have exactly $5 for parking on me. If I fail to plan ahead and break a $20, can I pay with a check?

Overthinking Options - Advice Needed

Use Case: I do aerial acrobatics, and like to write down the steps to get into the different tricks in a notebook. As I learn new tricks, or new ways into a trick I want to be able to group them with other similar moves. There's also different categories of tricks. I'd like a notebook where I can add pages anywhere (once they're in I likely wouldn't need to move them again) and has dividers for the categories. I'm currently using a 5x8 regular notebook and that's a pretty good size, but could go a little larger. I'm running out of pages, and the spine has detached so it's time for an upgrade.

Options I've considered:

  • Filofax Notebook: I like this form factor the best. Limited page capacity, and dividers out of stock makes this a no-go
  • Filofax Clipbook: Clip rings seem very binder like. Decent page capacity. I like the cover pattern options, and that the rings would be covered.
  • Happy Planner: Not a fan of their cover designs.
  • Levenger Circa: Expensive, but seems to have what I want. I'm concerned about the exposed discs getting caught on things while getting shoved in my gym bag.

Help me decide? Are there other options I'm missing? Thanks!

Personal Blender Capacity

Right now I have a Ninja Fit with a 16 oz blending cup. I'm looking for something with a bigger capacity. I was interested in Beast because I liked the idea of a stainless cup, but it says capacity is 700mL (23.5 oz) but the blending capacity is only 500mL (17 oz) so would that actually allow me to make a bigger smoothie? Are there other options?

Adjustable Notebook Options

I'm looking advice on the best notebook for my needs.

  • Moveable pages - I want to be able to rearrange, add, remove pages
  • Durable - this is going to live in a gym backpack
  • Dividers - option to add dividers for sections (ideally 8-10)
  • 100 page capacity or more

From what I've found my options would be a disc bound like Levenger or a Filofax adjustable notebook (though they look sold out of dividers.) Would disc bound fall apart in a backpack with gym stuff and would the pages really hold up to being moved around?

Are there other options I'm missing?

Thanks!
