Are we in the clear with flooding risks?

I know they reported serious flood risks for last night and thankfully the rain hasn’t been so intense, was wondering if it is something I should still be monitoring

Teammate always shoots the ball no matter where they are on the field

How do I address a teammate on a rec league who will dribble around and eventually shoot every time they touch the ball? They are quite talented at dribbling and athletic, but the shots are killing momentum on offense and rarely go in. It’s not as bad on defense because it’s kind of like clearing the ball if it’s a tough situation.

Not sure how to address this or if I even can if it’s stress causing a panic for them or not

Getting back into indoor play

I recently signed up for a casual league after 7 years of break from playing in indoor competitive leagues

I’ve been playing outdoors my whole life and have gotten back in the groove after winter lately. I play PG and my passing, dribbling, and spot up 3 pt shooting are my strengths along with running the floor

In a casual adult league would I be underestimating the skill level and gonna be in for a rude awakening or is it a good place where I can have some success and maybe move to higher levels in the indoor league?

Nervous about mice

In the last 2 years I’ve probably seen 5 mice in my home, 1 that the cat caught and 3 caught in traps in the garage/basement and 1 that got away

I’ve plugged up any gaps in the garage with steel wool and set up traps all along my basement walls as well as the pantry floor. I keep things clean and almost always keep food outside of its original packaging and in a glass or plastic container

I had an exterminator service come and they said it’s not bad from what they see and they don’t recommend covering the exterior with a rodent blocker and instead said I could pay for the monthly poisoning service with traps

I know poison is bad for the wildlife so I opted to just set my own traps still

I feel awful that this is still happening though

How do I install a window AC without drilling into the window?

I bought a screwless window ac bracket for a 60 lb window AC that supports up to 120 lbs. I also bought window locks so the window can’t slide up as well as a window insulation kit to go over the slider

Is there a way to use all of this to keep the AC stable in the window as well as make sure it’s not a security threat, which is my biggest concern?

Having anxiety installing my own window AC

I got a 60 pound AC unit for my windows that I got replaced recently, the windows are vinyl

I bought a drill-free bracket for the AC to help with the weight

My concerns about the diy install is that I put it into the window frame and it damages the window significantly or that I drill into the window to secure the AC and make it safe from break ins and I drill something into parts of the window that damage it or ruin waterproofing

I’ve watched a few videos on people installing the ACs and read the manual but am hesitant to go through with it because of the fear of an expensive mistake

Sheetrock joint compound for holes in walls

I had some work started by a family member where they used Sheetrock joint compound for some holes in walls from work done by contractors

They were telling em that it will take multiple applications of it, but they are very busy now and haven’t been back to continue the work

I see the applied sites and it’s mostly smooth but there are some lines at some points, is it as simple for me to reapply some compound and smooth it again and let it dry until it is completely smooth, then sand it, then paint?

shoe options primarily for outdoors

I have some shoes I probably need to replace soon and I was looking for recs primarily for outdoors that last long and have a good cushion while being kind of light

I’ll also occasionally play indoor league games but I’ll mostly be outdoors on pavement

Budget is around $100

What are some tips to keep in mind while playing to give you an advantage?

For example I saw somebody say that most missed shots end up on the other side of the rim for rebounding tips.

Then there’s looking at the back of the rim while shooting and looking at the dribblers hips while guarding on the perimeter.

Any other little tips like this to keep in mind during the game?

First time replacing window AC

I have a few questions on the process of replacing a window AC for better cooling

- if I have a lot of open space is it most effective to have multiple running at the same time?

- are the window ACs with the flat middle part better than the traditional window units or worse?

- I’m supposed to drill into parts of the frame, where exactly am I aiming for? How do I avoid disaster

I’ve seen a few YouTube videos on install but they weren’t clear enough for a first timer. Also I know you’re supposed to tilt it so water exits outside, and I guess something to hold the unit up externally

Subconsciously stopping myself from running faster or jumping higher

I had a pretty bad knee injury a few years ago and healed well with the help of physical therapy and weight lifting

I’m pretty shifting and fairly quick, but I never play as explosively sprinting while dribbling or jumping because I think that there is a fear of pushing down hard to jump will cause another injury

Any ideas on how to get past this? I know I jump higher from other sports that are played on softer surfaces

Can only take one pair of shoes to Europe, what goes with many outfits and also can be hiked in?

Only have a carry on and a small backpack so I can only bring one pair of shoes to Europe, looking for suggestions for something to wear to restaurants, for nightlife, and walking around cities and a light hike.

Something that is also comfortable as well, I’ll be buying a new pair of shoes

What are bars even doing with their pricing at this point?

You go out and go to a bar or restaurant and on the menu it’s like $8 for a local beer and like $15-$18 for a cocktail

There’s no point in even ordering them out there and if you want to have some drinks for a fun night, if that’s your thing, you’re better off trying to organize a house party or pregame and get an Uber

What parts do I need to have somebody replace garage door springs?

I do not plan on doing it myself, but have professionals I’ve used before to install a new motor I bought

If I were to replace a spring I would replace both, I know I need a new spring, safety cable and pulley. Anything else I might need to buy? I know the current weight rating of the springs as well

Garage door repair recommendations

I think my garage door pulley and spring came off the lifting cable on one side of the door and I need some help fixing that.

I’ve gotten quotes before and it felt like bartering on prices which was annoying

Why are New Yorkers so vocal about transplants?

I understand if people move in and gentrify an area or cause it to lose its culture that’s a bad thing, but there’s discourse that if you’re not born in NYC then you’re a transplant and that transplants are bad.

I never really hear about this with any other city and think about “what if they spoke like that but replaced the city with the country and spoke about immigrants that way”

Is it a bad idea to get my significant other a gift that is on sale or slightly older model?

For example if I got a smartwatch that is last years version or on sale on a site like Woot that is brand new (not refurbished or used) do you think it’s not a good idea for a gift?
