[LAist] LA prosecutors didn't know a Long Beach cop had a battery conviction. He now works for Burbank

>A former Long Beach Police Officer at the center of a case with major implications for how police records are disclosed is now working for the Burbank Police Department.

Prior misconduct finding: Erik Suarez was a Long Beach officer in 2019 when he beat a man in Cobb County, Georgia and was convicted on a misdemeanor battery charge. Four years later, the LA DA investigated him for use of force — no charges were filed. In response to a records request from LAist, LBPD officials said they found a sustained finding of "unnecessary or unreasonable force" from 2023 in Suarez’s personnel file. They posted the corresponding investigative files online later that same day.

Ongoing fight for disclosure: A defense attorney says Long Beach withheld information about the Georgia conviction from his client and the DA, and is asking the city to turn over records from Suarez’s personnel file. The city of Long Beach has argued information about the officer's misconduct is not relevant to the case at hand and should remain confidential.

Back on the job in Burbank: Suarez left the Long Beach Police Department in June — three days before he was subpoenaed for the second time by the defense – and is now with the Burbank Police Department, according to records from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.

I'm confused about the measurements of their ice cream cakes. I'm trying to order a cake and it says half sheet but it says 6 in by 8 in.

The half sheet cakes that I know are 12x18 in.

Is it an error or is Baskin-Robbins not using standard sizes?

My machine updated and I got a little notification with a QR code to see what the update was, so I checked it. It's literally an update to the update notification system to include QR codes.

The food court of the Glendale Galleria.

I was looking for pictures of it and found a post on this subreddit that showed carpeted flooring and I knew that wasn't it. This is the correct one.

I didn't buy it but I had to laugh. I watched them put this out the day after the final.

I don't know why anyone would want a whole stack of these.
