Feeling nauseous after not eating for a full day; what to do?

I’m in college as of now, starting my freshman year. I got an early move-in date, so a lot of things around campus were closed. Yesterday, the dining hall near my hall was closed for students and so were the two other ones (one under construction and another one was just too far for me to walk). I thought I would be fine without eating, but I woke up and felt incredibly nauseous and tired; limbs shaking, dizziness, etc.

Now that I’m eating, I can’t stomach the food and it’s making me frustrated because my stomach feels so empty but I can’t seem to swallow without feeling like I’m gonna vomit. I never experienced this before so I’m unsure of what to do. If anyone has any advice because there is no way I’m going another day without eating at least one full meal, but my body can’t seem to handle it :(

Not getting notifications all of a sudden

I’ve stopped receiving notifications on my iPhone 16. Usually, I have DND on, but allowed notifications for only specific contacts. However, they stopped appearing on both my home screen and whenever I open up my phone. I‘ve tried turning DND off, but that didn’t fix the issue. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not updated to the latest iOS (18.7.7 currently). I just need to know if anyone else is facing this issue and if they found a way to fix it because it’s annoying to have to constantly check messages :,((

I don’t know what to do or how to feel

I was scrolling on TikTok and I saw a video of a girl saying that fingering someone without consent is rape. At first, I thought about it because I considered it sexual assault (in my case). However, I searched it up and by definition it is rape. I’ve always considered my experience with this to be sexual assault and I know sexual violence is an umbrella term, however I never took my own trauma seriously because of how I viewed it.

I don’t know what to do with this information because it used to be a passing thought and I’d just shrug it off. I don’t know why I’m taking it more seriously now. I’m not trying to downplay sexual assault survivors, but I just refuse to believe that what happened to me when I was little was rape. It seemed so insignificant because of his age and what I remember. I’m not breaking down crying but I can’t come to terms with this. I want to brush this off like I once did but I can’t. I really can’t.

Sisters plant is dying. What do I do?

I’m not even sure what type of plant this is. However, her instructions were to fill the cup with cold water and place the plant inside. She had six plants, one of them died due to overheating I think. I don’t want this to be the second when I already messed it up :(

Single dorm or double?

The only reason I’m asking is because I’ve heard both sides of the story; people not liking sharing rooms with other people, especially if they have different lifestyles. But I’ve also heard that people felt more alone in a single.

I got put into a single because I wanted to be in one. Throughout my life, I shared a room with my mom and older sister and the only time I got the room to myself is as of currently (sister is on a 2 month trip). I don‘t mind sharing a room with her, but her and I have different things we can and can’t agree on, such as curtains, or organizing, or even decorating. It’s one of the reason I wanted to be alone, so I can make my own decisions and live in a space how I wanted to.

I initially had a double before, my roommate seemed like a really nice girl. However, I made up on my mind on wanting a single. I told my mom this and now she’s unhappy with my choice. I will admit that I’m not the most outgoing person, but she makes it seem like I have no friends at all. I have people that I hang out with, especially during the school year. I went upstate with a whole bunch of people, visited other friend’s houses, hung out past curfew. I’m not lonely. She told my older sister and she agrees with her as well. Now I feel like I’m regretting my decision.

I want my college life to be about the decisions I make, but I don’t know if I could handle sharing another room with a person for possible four more years no matter who they are. I tried telling her there’s chances I can make friends outside of my dorm, especially since two of my school friends are also going to the same college. She disagreed, told me how bad my previous roommate must feel. I know she wants what’s best for me and sometimes I can’t help but cave in, even if I think she’s wrong.

I just need advice on what to do or at least how to stop worrying.

How do you tell your kids about being honest?

The reason I’m asking this question is because my mom always confuses me with being honest— sometimes she hates if I tell the truth, or she hates when I lie. Because of her, I developed a natural instinct to lie, even if it doesn’t get me in trouble and bad communication skills, but that’s a thing on its own.

I‘m going off to college now and I decided to request a single dorm because I wanted my privacy. She didn’t understood at first, but she accepted it. However, she wanted me to conjure this whole story to tell my roommate about why I moved. I didn’t. I told my roommate the truth; she’s a really nice girl so she understood. Unfortunately, they moved her as well. I’m too sure where. I told my mom and now she’s upset at me for telling the truth, basically asking “why would you say that?”, “now she thinks you hate her“, “you should’ve told her this”. But why should I? She then told me that for my “protection“ (whatever that means), little white lies are okay to tell.

This isn’t the first time she wanted me to conjure a lie about something. For example, not being able to make it to events, cancelling plans, school stuff. I will admit, she probably doesn’t trust me due to past issues with CPS in middle school. But we’ve moved past that and our relationship is fixed (in some ways). But she also hates it when I lie and then questions why I do it. So I wanted to ask other parents when is it okay to be honest and when is it okay to lie?

Needing to Stop Thinking the Worst

I just woke up and I’m already in tears.

I’m 18, my sister is 25. She goes out a lot and sometimes she doesn’t come home for the night, which is fine. I’m not upset that she can do what she wants and if anything I get our shared room to myself. She usually comes home really late into the night or later in the morning. This time, she didn’t come home for the entire night and her bed is still made.

I didn’t exactly start panicking until I checked her location. We live in NYC. She was at Prospect Park… in a secluded location. I immediately started thinking the worst-case scenarios to the point I checked the news to see if anything popped up. There was a man who tried to assaulting a woman on Friday and I started questioning if the same man— or some dangerous person hurt her. I continued checking her location for the next thirty minutes while crying because I just couldn’t stop thinking that something had happened. She kept going around in the same spots, so I assumed she was doing something but my mind instantly moved to the worst possible scenario.

I didn’t call her or anything, or text because I fear I would be bothering her (I know, it sounds dumb and ironic, especially since I was literally struggling to breathe over this). I don’t only do this for her, though mainly her since my parents only switch between from home and work compared to her. I cry over the smallest things and I physically cannot relax unless I’m aware of IF she is safe, not really where she is.

I just want to know if anyone had similar experiences and how to deal with it.

Mom cussed out super— I want to make it right

I live in an apartment complex and when it came to trash, most tenants on my floor left **some** of their trash in a corner (mostly boxes or unused/non-working items). Apparently, that stopped I guess because there was a notice going around to instead take it downstairs. I wasn’t aware of it, so I left an empty box on the same corner.

My mom came over the next day to take me to my doctors appointment. She also did food shopping since I was sore from my shot. While we were unpacking, one of the supers came to tell her that we can’t leave packages in the corner and to instead take it downstairs. My mom replied back with a rude tone, which soon turned into a huge fight in the hallway.

Point is, I now feel bad for the guy. Not in a pitying way, more like a sympathetic way. I never really talk to the supers in my building (probably because there’s no need), but he was super nice and kindly asked her to take it down. My mom doesn’t even live with us and it’s my dad who pays rent, so I feel as if she just made it worse between us now. I was gonna give him a plate of fresh food that we had, but I heard that apologizing on the behalf of others is weird and unnecessary. I can’t seem to get it off my mind and unsure of what to do. My mom is a huge Karen so she always escalates things past the need where they don’t to be.
