Crossbow is king?

Am i the only one who hunts nearly exclusively with a crossbow? Pheasant? Crossbow. Elk? Bear? Mule? White tail? Crossbow for all of them.

I lose less meat and notice animals drop much faster. Shot a bear with .300 prc and it ran off. Had to track it. Called it back in and used the crossbow and it dropped right where it stood. I thought my first shot may have been bum even though it looked good. Looked at the replay and the crossbow ran parallel to the bullet on a quartering towards shot. Full left lung, nicked right lung. Near identical shots. Very different results.

Boat advice

So i have a dilemma. I want a kayak for paddling baits out to the surf but im too big for 90% of kayaks. Im 6 foot 6 and bounce between 225 and 260 depending on season but average around 245. I was told I need to stay at 75% or less of capacity on kayak so my body weigh alone rules out a large number of them. I figured maybe a modified v jon boat but the aluminum would corrode pretty fast in saltwater so whats a man to do. I want something I can put on the rack of my jeep and something I can life into the water on my own without the need for a ramp or trailer. Any advice?

Start up idea

So everyone around me does fire wood and leaves small branches and stuff laying around. I was thinking of getting a wood chipper and a hammer mill and making pellets. Id get trash bins to sort the wood by type for the useful ones like oak, pecan, Mesquite, etc and a mixed bin for trash wood. For good woods id make pellets for smokers and such and for trash wood id make pellets that could be used for composting. Wood has huge benefits in a compost pile but larger pieces take a while to break down. I was thinking compost pellets would be a good way to dispose of what people normally dont use and cooking pellets would be a good way to dispose of branches and such. I could also make leaf pellets as well for compost. It would be a different corner of the market that isnt over saturated and would provide benefit to the soil. Opinions? Thoughts? Ideas? Ive already figured out that I need a hammer mill for the chips to be small enough for a pellet maker as well as the proper moisture content for it to stay together.

Intermediate knapping

So im not expert but ive dabbled in it for years, mostly using one rock on another making very primitive and rudimentary points. Ive looked through the beginner guide and there is some great info there. Im looking to get actual good tools though, buy once cry once kind of value. My goal is to make my own knives as I have access to quite a bit of chert rock and Georgetown flint as im in central Texas. What is everyone's go to for basic tools or tool kits.

Tired of everyone being so soft

Seriously. Everything is so censored now. Fb. Insta. Tiktok. Every single platform. You can get banned for anything. In one day I 3 bans totalling 180 days on fb. I was having a conversation about my time in the military with another veteran and got 2 bans for "offensive or dangerous language" because I said shit and damn. Those amounted to 60 days and then I got another 120 days for "encouraging or inciting violence" because we were discussing the war that we both served in. No names. No threats. No nothing. Just a conversation about old times and I got banned. Yesterday on reddit I got a "warning" for "threatening behavior" because there was a video of a jetski harassing a kayaker and I made mention of seeing someone else smack a jet ski with a weight for being a jerk in a no wake zone. Like seriously? Toughen up people. The world isnt all butterflies and fucking rainbows. Life sucks. Shit happens. Not everyone is your friend.

Bonus - This was originally posted in another reddit and got taken down for "inciting violence."

I stand by what I said.

How are we feeling about the Roku Fox deal

As the title says, ive been watching this buyout deal for a while. Im expecting a hike in roku price after the buyout and im curious on the sentiment around this deal. Given the generally negative sentiment towards fox, it could also go the other way.

Vise?

Alright so my other post was well recieved and has given me lots of good information about tools. Now my question is, what's a good vise. I was looking at one that was about 100 bucks on Amazon but after yalls input and some research of my own, it looks like that one will probably be more frustrating than helpful. One of you shared a video with me that was super helpful and recommended a renzetti traveler but it also mentioned clamp vs base. So im looking for something super stable as i have nerve issues after the military but I still want it to portable so I can take it with me to entertain myself while sitting at expos with my wife. Im not trying to break the bank but I really want a buy once kind of vice. Sturdy, well rounded, as many "features" as a non-expert could need, etc. Bonus points if anyone had a resource for a travel case that I can put my vise, tools, and supplies in to make it easier to tote around to events.

Essential tools?

Looking at getting into fly tying as a hobby. I know that a good vise is necessary but what else would you consider "essential" right from the start. I intend to tie flys like mayfly, wooly bear caterpillars, maybe some coastal shrimp flys, or crayfish for catfish. Looking for something a little less space consuming vs woodworking. I also sit at a lot of expos with the wife and her painting stuff and want something more productive to do than doom scrolling for 12 hours.

Viabtc or solock

Just debating on Best pool. I like the interface and such for viabtc but solock seems to find way more blocks. Should I just stay locked in on via or try solo ck?

New solo miner

So I get the whole it runs all the time thing with miners but should I periodically restart it? I mean it is a "computer" after all. I doubt it will help with better hashes but could it extend the life of the machine or is it a waste of time.

Optimization

So i understand the network has its difficulty but in reference to my miners minimum difficulty, is there a way to optimize for better quality shares? Im currently using the vardiff on ViaBtc and im happy to see it racking up lots of shares but id rather a handful of high quality shares vs mass amounts of low quality shares.

Comparison

So i understand hashrate and the randomness of it all but ive noticed the leader board hits are 75% Qaxe++ and the other 25% are various other models. Technically speaking the Qaxe has a lower hashrate than a lot of models and has ~6th when overclocked but seems to hit higher numbers than models of equivalent Th. Why is that?

Quartz or Topaz

Found in Mason Texas in an old quarry. Some cochoidal fracturing and looks to be parallel basal cleavage but im no expert. Can't seem to get it to scratch with any of the other minerals in my possession.

So im new to the whole solo mining thing. Been gpu mining with some old rigs for various coins over the years but the solo mining, the odds seem to be pretty slim for mining BTC. Is it feasible to solo mine either coins that you have a better shot at? I reckon im a little late to get rich on btc but if I could do like bch id have a much better shot? Anyone else do that or am I way off?

So im a solo miner and im looking at my "odds" on different coins. The odds on the "big one" for BTC are obviously VERY low. Whats to stop me from solo mining something like BCH? Im not tryna get rich. Personally I think the chances for that are long past but I could hit a bch block ~450 and just keep adding that to my wallet and convert to another coin or invest it elsewhere. Am I off my rocker or is that feasible?

Just looking for input of people with more experience than myself. Ive dabbled for many years but just recently bought my first asic instead of using my gaming pc and old rigs for gpus.
