GB Banker's Box Labelling Ideas?

So this is a bit of a weird thing to ask for help with. This Halloween I'll be putting together a Ghostbusters "recruitment orientation" display for my local town's trick or treat. I've made several other props and bought quite a surplus of laboratory like/industrial furniture.

The shtick is basically a low-employed, forgotten Ghostbusters Division seeking help. I need to fill a shelf with various interesting props, but it's pretty large and I don't have much left.

A school nearby was unloading these boxes for free and I had a moment of inspiration. I need to give these guys various tags and labels, and probably make a few drip slime.

Anybody got some ideas for what I could put? I've got a few but not enough to label every box. Thanks in advance!

Chromebook Making Random Animal Noises??

I can't explain it any better than that. I'll be in a tab when a random meow or a cricket chirp goes off. Anybody else have this happen? I've scowered the settings and can't find an answer. Thanks to anyone who replies, your help is appreciated!

Just Some Questions :)

I've had these questions on my mind lately, feel free to discuss!

  1. Something I've always wondered about is why the Ghostbusters are portrayed in the film as a national(?) phenomenon. Real ghost-hunters don't get anywhere near the amount of fame as the four in the movie do, so why are they different? Granted, I know in in-universe the paranormal certifiably exists, but they're shown to have merchandising and a strong fanbase. What gives?

  2. Was the Proton Pack not a major scientific revolution in its day? Actual cyclotrons (proton accelerators) span multiple MILES, so three dudes in a college figuring out how to make one that fits on your back would be a serious headline. My headcanon is that it was, but Stantz and Spengler agreed that the world wasn't ready for particle-energy-weapons, and thus kept the tech under tight wraps.

  3. Who do you think the original owner of the Ecto-1 was in canon? Me personally, I like to think the Cadillac is partially sentient due to all of the death it saw as either an ambulance or a hearse, likely a combination. But who owned it beforehand?

  4. How on God's green earth did they not get arrested sooner for the Containment Unit? The Real Ghostbusters (which isn't canon, I know) said the unit was ten megavolts. Ten megavolts far exceeds both residential and commercial power grants, so how the HELL did ConEdison (or others) not notice the 10,000,000 volt drop on their grid?

Equipment Identification Help?

When I was younger I remember seeing of a museum display of a 1920's radio station. The picture I took has long since been deleted or erased.

The display included these long, tubular looking coil things. I am now into radio transmission and broadcasting, but no matter how much I look, I can't find out what these things are. They were ceiling-mounted and connected to the transmitter, at least I assume.

Does somebody here know what these are? My drawing is a little crude but its the best I could do from memory. Any help if appreciated.

Halloween Traditions, Anyone? (79 Days 'Till All Hallows Eve!)

What's a tradition, no matter how old or new, you'll be doing this year?

I'll go first--three years ago I started handing out candy at my display. Ever since then they've only gotten bigger, better, and a lot more complex. :)

What's your Halloween Tradition?

I Dislike What Happened To The SCP Foundation (And 'Mysterious Horror' As A Whole)

So, first off, let me preface by saying correct me in any regard if I'm wrong in terms of origin or the early days of these subjects. This is just an opinion and I'm not super knowledgeable on some of these topics (which is due to some stuff I'll talk about later).

I dislike what happened to the SCP Foundation, and just mysterious-horror as a whole. The project started off as a collaborative writing site where people could submit their own entity under the idea it was a 'documented' case or file cataloged by this mysterious facility. It used to be nobody knew what it was, which is what made it so intriguing. Who were these people? Who were they funded and hired by? Who built their facilities? It was all unknown, which was why it was such a good premise. Then people started trying to explain everything, with little bits of lore and whatever else. It ruined the whole 'secret-government-conspiracy' vibe. It [originally] felt like some sort of classified info that got leaked out of Area 51 or such. Now it's all filled with weird, gross fanfiction and obvious self-insert crap.

The same thing happened to the Backrooms. What were they? Where were they? It was all unanswered, which was the GENIUS of it. It wasn't some complicated, lore-riddled mystery that people were scrambling to find out! It just existed without explanation, which was why people were enamored with it! The whole point of the Backrooms is that it's there. It's not explained. It's not supposed to have a reason for existence, it just does. It's some weird place you'll end up if you jump out of reality. That was the whole reasoning, nothing more and nothing less. Then it got popular and more levels were added, and soon every single liminal space photo was being turned into some random floor or level with entities and God knows what else.

I think this is probably one of the reasons why internet horror media is dying, at least in my mind. Everything has to be pinpointed and explained as to why it exists. Nothing can just be there anymore, it has to be ruined by the unnecessary explanation. The most current example (though now it seems a little past its prime) is Folk Valley. (Or Vally, however you would spell it). Folk Valley is a creepy urban-legend type place where strange stuff happens. That was it. But now it's all being ruined by Huss Valley and yadda yadda yadda, I could go on forever and ever.

Thank you for coming to my TED Talk. :)

Custom "DO NOT OPERATE" Equipment Tags

Made them myself from laminating matte photo paper and gluing gromits to the punch holes.

Was inspired by that one seen in Frozen Empire where their equipment gets confiscated by the EPA.

Who Would Win In A Dogfight, Snoopy or Skye From Paw Patrol?

I was listening to Snoopy vs. The Red Baron and had a funny thought. They're both dogs, they're both pilots, so who's the better dog-fighter?

Delorean Question

So, in the first movie, Doc famously tells Marty the Delorean is perfect for time travel due to its stainless steel composite body structure. However, he doesn't say it's NECESSARY.

Could you use other cars besides a DMC-12? I always assumed stainless steel was the only material that could handle the drastic switch between super hot and then super cold, not to mention the pre-built efficiency, etc. (Doc didn't have to do any fabrication for the car itself).

I Love The Frozen Empire Packs !

I know I'll probably get some heat for this, but putting aside the ignored canon science, I LOVE THESE PROTON PACKS!

Ecto Containment Build, Part 5

Got the labels and the exterior details done for the most part. Internal components still being printed.

I recreated all of the labels from scratch, seeing as no screen accurate ECU labels were available. I mostly tried to pick and scower from premade label sheets, but some of the more obscure ones I made myself.

Awaiting the cage lights to arrive. Final steps will be touch-ups and weathering.

New pool owner and our pool is green. Test strip reads all chemicals are fine. Please help.

We have family coming to use our pool this weekend and this is what our pool looks like 😭 it was literally perfect 3 weeks ago but then it cooled down, rained a bit, and now wildfires in Canada affecting the air quality.

My husband and I work demanding jobs and have a young son. We are lost at this point. About to just call the pool company.

Edit:

Ecto Containment Unit Build, Part 3

Got most of the details attached. None of the labels I found online were good enough for my liking, So I recreated them from scratch. They're awaiting application.

Also, it's about 98° F where I am right now, so working outside was the bane of my existence. Solution, I brought it inside. :)
