Found at the local record place

Such a shame I can't post this on my player here on this sub (rule 2)

Had myself a few drinks 🍸 while it rained all night last night, listening to this wonderful soundtrack. Snagged it from a local half price books because I was not going to leave without it 😏

Edit:

I just noticed, why is Deckard holding both of his index fingers in the trigger ring?

Someone suggested I post my haptics project here πŸ™‚

Been working on turning myself into a Digicorp employee of the future :)

What's your favorite piece of cyberpunk media?

Personally, I enjoy Philip K. Dick's 'Let My Tears Flow The Policeman Said' and 'A Scanner Darkly'

I've found my people

Hey there πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

I'm not sure why it took until today to check for a cloud subreddit, I love clouds. I don't know much about their names like I used to as a child, but I do enjoy capturing them ☁️

I have a lot of cloud photos that I'll post over the next bit, happy clouding :)

My go at haptics, interested in connecting and feedback

Hey there long-time Index user πŸ„

Yes they are motors πŸ™‚β€β†•οΈ

This post about haptics recently slid across my feed and I figured I'd make my own considering I'm also working on some haptic tech right now :)

I am an independent dev, or researcher, or tinkerer... whatever floats your boat. Currently my work is in the midst of building a full body haptic suit for VR.

A functioning arm sleeve as shown in the photos is complete and operable, but I'd like to make a second version that is less jank than hot-glued cardboard and dreams (I am building it out right now as a precursor since I've made improvements to the first sleeve that need testing prior to full suit applications).

Sleeve Specs:

+ 96 Independent Motors

+ Battery powered

+ Jank

+ 16 Hours of playtime on one charge so far (constant firing of the max motor count is around 4 hours)

Suit goals:

+ 1000 motors

+ Tethered power

+ Ease of use

+ Durable and breathable

+ Cheap and easy to service motors

+ Washable

+ Fits many sizes and proportions

+ And others...

I figured you critters would like the idea and project considering I have a photo and build of the prototype. While I won't stamp on any heads using AI to showcase ideas for this tech, I will wag my finger ☝🏼. I find it more advantageous for everyone to show real displays and mocks, especially in the nested niche of wearable tech in VR to better include each other on development in the community.

I want to meet anyone here also interested in wearables or VR tech in general.

A leading question for you:

"What are the top three aspects of a haptic suit / sleeve that you'd find most important in your consideration of using one?"

No survey needed, I'm alone on my project and don't necessarily want to curb discussions as I do enjoy reading what other people are talking about in posts like these :)

If you have any questions feel free to ask, I might not get into the nitty gritty details of how I made the sleeve or suit as I'm still researching the idea first.

I don't have any concrete goals yet on a sellable product or even a dev kit as research is in the early stages. I do have plans to make an open source or open-noncommercial build guide for some things for others to follow and make their own iterations; that will be sometime in the future.

Either way

Thanks for slopping by πŸ‘‹πŸΌ πŸ¦†

Haptic Project Progress #1

Hey there guys πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

I made a new account dedicated mainly for this topic so apologies for the new factory smell πŸ™πŸΌ (jk)

Been working on a project for a long while involving haptic feedback, something I think should be much further along than what we have with glorified laser tag vests of the modern age of VR. It was only in the recent months I had the resources and time after graduating college and settling into this dark souls level job market to finally pursue building it

I'm a hardcore internet lurker, so sharing is a bit newer to me :)

Thanks, for slopping by

Small p.s.

(At this time I am going to keep specific implementation details under wraps until I get further along to the milestones I'm personally aiming for, though I do plan to make a majority of the project open source or GPL at minimum)
