I don’t care about damage, give me survivability and movement

Yes I know his does low damage which is even worse now with the new team ups because every hero has a get out of jail free card (overshield, cleanses, self heal). But I’ve always accepted he can’t do crazy damage.

I just want the feeling of PRIME CAP, staying alive forever, jumping around, distracting, making space, stalling. idc how they do it, whether it’s give him HP back, more shield health, better shield regeneration, overshield from abilities, less CD on his movement abilities… IDGAF just give me that pestiness and annoying factor back.

More damage would be nice but they won’t do both, so give us the survivability. I hope i’m not mis-speaking for Cap mains but this is how I feel.

Playing this Hero is like ASMR

Not sure about everyone else but if you’ve ever had a frustrating day IRL, playing Bucky feels like a perfect stress relief.

I think it’s the brawl aspect of his kit while also having to have decent aim. But I feel like I can get a lot of anger out and lock in with him. Anti-dive, hooking tanks into your team, cancelling ults, double-dinking someone- all so satisfying.

Former Cap player, would you guys say she’s similar?

Thinking about picking her up because cap is awful right now. Wondering if she serves a similar purpose of annoying back line and distracting/making space. I know her thing is kidnapping tanks or squishies into your team but assuming you guys often isolate supps and go for picks as well.

Also how do you feel about her state in the meta right now?

He just blows up this season

Let me start by saying these are just my observations and experiences from playing him in the new meta, you all can feel free to disagree. He’s an OK pick still, you CAN get value with him but every engage feels like tip toeing around shattered glass.

The combination of him getting an 100 HP nerf and other heroes getting damage/sustain teamups makes him much weaker especially with his neutral kit. A shield dash is no longer enough for me to get out of sticky situations, often I have to use both dash and either team up or slam to get out.

The bucky team up in theory is nice but is only 50 HP extra from what his base HP was + some movement (which often doesn’t help me if i’m solo diving/tanking because my team will be in narnia while im in backline). The shield regen doesn’t kick in fast enough to reduce downtime so I often have to go find health packs regardless which is why i would rather have the 700 HP back. In general I just blow up to poke which was never the case in previous seasons. I used to pride myself on low deaths with cap but it’s harder to do that now.

I don’t think we’re going to get buffs and idk if he needs any. After realizing this, i’ve adapted a bit by doing VERY soft engages to bait cooldowns and go back in. This helps a little but i’ll still have to play my life more often.

How does he feel this season?

Haven’t gotten to play this season and curious how he feels. I’m less worried about strength of his kit and more worried about HP nerf and how he does relative to changes across the game.

Melee DPS players have been pretty flexible on the top teams

Was watching the interview after NAVI beat VP in the finals and J3rky made the point of flex (dps) being the most difficult role and I have to agree. Obviously he’s a bit biased considering that he plays that role for NAVI but this is a common theme among the top teams.

The players who primarily play Melee DPS are being thrown in all directions and asked to fill in wherever needed. Pros who play this role include J3rky, Spheediry, Self, Daes, Phi, Crazy Kitty, and more that i’m missing.

I know this is because many of the melee heroes are situational but I still find it very impressive. These guys will fill for triple support (Mantis, Ultron, White fox, Adam) and then also play tank in 3-3 comps when teams want to play it for first point on defense. Then they’ll turn around and try to play a poke/hybrid DPS (Bucky, SL, Psy) when the teams want to switch it up and run different comps.

I know these guys are pro players but I still think it’s difficult to play multiple roles at this level and maintain great game sense and muscle memory (Not double support ult, keep eachother alive on supps, hit mag rocks/strange ults, etc.) Just wanted to show some appreciation for these players!

MVP Rates adjusted for cap?

I’m not someone who really cares too much about ACE or MVP/SVP especially on a hero like Cap whose value usually goes unnoticed in stats. But last few weeks I noticed he was a pretty easy ace if you have similar or more finals than the other tanks/dps.

The past few days however I noticed this wasn’t the case. Even with more finals, or good damage/KD, he almost never seems to get it.

Anyone else notice this? Like I said, I think the MVP system is a bit flawed and I dont really care ab it other than its impact on SR gained. But i’m curious to see if others have the same experience because that would hint that the metrics for MVP is something that is continually tweaked by devs.

Holy cap larps

Cap is fully mainstream now I guess . I haven’t seen this many ppl playing cap in ranked and even saw a few cap bans which felt unusual. It’s crazy how much narrative and talk from streamers/community affects pick rates of heroes. Especially when this hero has been relatively untouched for multiple seasons balance wise.

Some of them were straight cheeks, just running around cluelessly before switching after a few deaths. While some played like actual cap mains.

Although i’m glad other ppl are able to enjoy Cap bc he’s the funnest hero imo, the human part of me is kind of put off by it as someone who played cap thru thick and thin. Like when he was weaker, got multiple nerfs/removal of animation cancel etc.

Not proud to feel this way but it is what it is! Cap feels great this season. B tier for sure (MTA 😉).

Question about TeamCaptain joining RAD

I saw that TeamCaptain joined RAD but it says “As a creator” so that doesn’t mean he’ll be competing for RAD in Ignite right?

Here we go again, might be over for us.

All this talk about best in slot. Zhiyong sitting on his throne waiting to snap his fingers to dismantle another dive/tank victim.

So a hero with average damage (Good damage with melee cancel-requires skill and practice), limited range, many counters (Emma, wolv, penni, white fox, CC, paper shield), but great survivability is going to get nerfed bc of outcry.

A lot of value on cap comes from doing the little things- making space, distracting enemy, playing objective/stalling cart, and peeling for your teammates. Imo, if ur not doing these things on cap you’re not maximizing his value at all. So basically Cap is about to get nerfed because most cap mains play the game the right way?

On paper nothing is spectacular about him besides maybe his unlimited sprint, and TTK with melee cancel. But because his kit allows players to make little unnoticed impacts that help win the game, he will be nerfed INAPPROPRIATELY. Pro players know how to take advantage of these minutiae details which is why he is great in high elo/e sports.

I promise you they will make some changes next patch, savor this half season. I’m going to play him a lot more than usual because the inevitable is coming.

Devs running a circus

This has nothing to do with how tanks are treated because that’s a separate issue in and of itself.

Everytime you release a new DPS, ranked becomes unplayable for a week. You already have 3 dps every game so release another and it’s just chaos.

More DPS than tanks and supports combined is the type of BS that only makes sense if the optimal comp is 1-4-1.

Keep in mind 7 out of the last 12 new heroes have been DPS when that slot was already bloated to begin. I don’t give 2 💩s about “We already had a release order planned”, when you get feedback and see issues, you adapt.

The devs have poor long term planning and executive dysfunction. Not just with this role issue itself but the game is catered to instant gratification without any respect to true fans of rivals that would love for the devs to play the long game. New heroes every month, and skins weekly when balancing is piss poor (half the roster isn’t viable), optimization issues, and throwers/cheaters.

Take a step back, slow down and figure your shit out, stop releasing heroes every month and maybe figure out permanent solutions for the prevailing issues.

I want to see this game succeed but nothing about it feels sustainable.

Everyday 😔

Miss playing prime tankpool. I know he needed tweaks but his current state is just sad. He filled the niche for me as a tank main with carry potential while also requiring a bit of skill (Aim and timing). Poke with range, Mobility, Dive potential, and solid peel.

As I said, I know he needed nerfs but 3 consecutive ones when there’s heroes like Phx, Gambit, Black cat going untouched is laughable and feels targeted. The worst part about the balancing team is that we never know if he’s gonna get buffed again and he could go on for seasons like this untouched…
