Has anyone in here battled thrips on begonias? I’m about 6 days into it and feeling discouraged. My cane begonias are doing okay, but my rhizomatous begonias are not taking the treatment well. Both have spots on their leaves now that I can’t differentiate between thrip or pesticide damage. I’ve been switching between spraying captian jacks deadbug and sexy plant juice every other day and the some leaves look like they are melting. I’ve already had to chop up my begonia ferox🥲 I feel like giving up, but I’ve spent so much money on these plants. I’ve also treated with systemic granules. The last picture is them before all this
I can tell if the holes are how the leaf is made or if I unknowingly brought thrips in😭😭😭
It was outside of my budget since I just ordered 2 rare begonias 🙈 but sooo beautiful!
It’s super tiny and I live in an apartment. Faster than a carpet beetle, is it a thrip?
I picked up this anthurium radicans x luxu while at a nursery today. It was 50% off and I have 45 plants, but have never had an anthurium!! So I had to get it. I didn’t realize until I got home that it is actually not a “lemon lime” variety and that the yellow color means it’s in trouble🤦🏾♀️ I checked the roots, which were extremely healthy, got rid of the death plug, and repotted it in a chunky soil, self watering pot. I’m gonna quarantine it for a week or so in my room to make sure there are no pests, but is there anything else I should know? I have SE facing windows and I know it does better in lower light. Please let me know if the placement is not good for it. Thanks!
I got this begonia on 4/4 and she was in great condition, but declined shortly after a repot into a self watering pot. This is my fault I think, because I had the rhizome fully planted🤦🏾♀️. The most third pic if from about a week ago and I replanted here with the rhizome just barely covered. I was keeping it in a humidity box that says around 80%, but someone told me it could be too much so I took it out, but it hasn’t made any progress. The rhizome is still very firm and that last leaf feels strong. I did take one of the leaves (it came with 4) and attempted to prop it. It seems promising, but is there anyway to jumpstart some growth on the main plant?
She’s droopy, but the leaves are very sturdy and healthy feeling and she’s been like this for a month or so. 2 weeks ago I moved her to stratum/perlite and she seems to be doing better. Is this new growth?
Found this baby on vacation this week in the big L of all places! I have never ever found a FL beauty at my local stores. They let me have it for 50% off and I went ahead and pruned the struggling leaves. TSA was a breeze and she is ready to head home with me to NC. Peep the baby leaf at the bottom🩷
