I just got this thing a couple weeks ago off Amazon Renewed and I don’t think it’s under warranty. This particular issue i just discovered yesterday. I researched it and unless I want to pay repair costs that are twice the amount of what I bought it for, then it looks like a replacement is my only option

This is the part where I’m supposed to give my step by step process but instead I’ll just leave the floor open for questions that I might maybe kind of be able to answer, sorta.
By zooming in you will see Wi-Fi is up and running and I was very easily able to install the latest releases of all my favorite apps, on an 11 year old orphaned machine. This is what I love most about Linux.
I love that it’s an operating system designed, among other things, to breathe new life into old beat up machines and I love all the quirks that comes with that. I love that every install is going to be a perpetual work in progress and in being such I get more and more experience with clacking commands into the konsole and navigating my home folders and files and learning about gnome and snapt and kde and all the other stuff I know nothing about
I was up fiddling around with this thing for 5 hours straight tonight, well into the wee hours, just trying to get it in restartable workable updatable order

I have a 2020 MacBook Air m1 and a 2015 MacBook Pro. So I’m backed up in that regard. I was going to dual boot mint on my MBA 2017 which is running Ubuntu but it’s only a 121gb machine so that probably would screw everything up or make it real slow and lose data on the existing Ubuntu OS
I figure I install it in the MacBook 2018 (which is biblically hated in the Mac community so no love-loss there) and no data lost if things go awry …

Now that I’m on this screen how do I set up specific space for Mint? Or do I even need to? I didn’t partition for Ubuntu but I wasn’t planning on a dual boot then. I didn’t even know it was a thing you could do! But now I really wanna do it
My flash drive is locked and loaded with the Linux mint image. I just don’t want to install it until this partition business is squared away.
I just started using Linux (Ubuntu) again. First time I used it it was on a refurbished dell or some such from a place called Free Geek in Portland about 18 years ago. I now run it on an old MacBook. As soon as I started looking at Linux subs on Reddit I swiftly realized thr Linux community isn’t really fond of the OS I use and so I did a little research on the subject and found this moderately yet reasonably biased take on it.

I figured a good way to get acclimated to Ubuntu is some customization projects. Any recommendations are very appreciated!
Most of the time IP and DNS are the same address but sometimes 2 to 6ish DNS servers are found and I think we’d all prefer just the one? Seems safer, more secure. It’s not a huge deal. If I see multiple, albeit fake, DNS servers I’ll just reconnect Surfshark until i get to a connection that only shows one IP/DNS.
Is having multiple servers via Surfshark just as safe as having one DNS server visible, as long as none of them are associated with my actual ISP?

First real nerdy computer thing I’ve ever done. I’m really digging it!
Only thing is the network is connected and appears to load up whatever I open with no problems. Maybe there is a problem somewhere that I can’t see or maybe that error message is just stuck on a loop? One thing I noticed is the instagram login page takes a while to load… Either way I’d love some knowledge on how to troubleshoot/fix this seemingly minor issue. Otherwise I’m really enjoying the Linux ecosystem! Thank you in advance…

This pic is how every search ends.. I’m not sure what to do as I’ve already installed the newest version of python. I’ve run qbittorrent on MacBooks twice before this with no issues.

by the name it looks like it has what i'm looking for but the plugin returns with "Error: Captcha Requested" on all searches within qbittorrent. is it just a dead search engine at this point or something else i need to do?
I opened it and hit play and I got the “network connection interrupted” message, on phone data and 3 separate ISPs After exiting out and reloading the app numerous times it just logged me out with the message “we have logged you out to protect our security.” Now when I try to log in it says “an error occurred try again”

It is now 4:00pm and the status is the same. “Loaded on delivery vehicle” but not “Out for delivery”
Do I assume it is out for delivery and maybe that part was not added to tracking or do the trucks get loaded and then when a driver is available, like maybe an afternoon shift driver will deliver it?

I just went to get a bag of soil and a terra cotta pot for my pothos and usually pick out a $8 random plant whenever I go and out of all the beautiful babies this is the guy I’m most drawn to. I guess it’s like when adopting a new feline friend, the cat chooses you. Anyone know its variety?
