Kibble vs wet food

Is Royal canine processed and hence not good for my dog? Friends say it’s processed and their dog will get an upset stomach if they don’t have “real food”.. am I doing anything wrong? I feel Royal canine has years of research behind it and therefore good for my dog.. but I am feeling the pressure to feed something more “real”…

Thoughts from dog owners really appreciated.

Hair has gone orange on the crown after coloring. How can I reverse this ?

I used at home hair color and my hair has turned orange at the crown. I think I left the color too long there and also used old oxidized color instead of fresh color. Can I use a hair toner to reverse this? Please help.

My beagle might not be loyal to me

My little 6 month old beagle is super friendly, well socialized, well adjusted puppy. But she goes to every person she meets on the streets and sometimes might not leave them to come with me.

I am so proud of her behavior. But I feel upset that
My beagle might not be loyal to me.

Anyone else experience this? They say beagles are loyal but mine might not be? 😭

Should I get my beagle spayed ?

My beagle is 5+ months old. She’s still such a baby. She’s not too hyper active. Nothing we cannot manage. Is it necessary to get her spayed? I don’t feel like putting her through that. Please tell me the pros and cons of getting her spayed. And if so, what’s the best age to do it?

Boarding for my dog

I am trying to book boarding for my dog in the winter.

Had a meet and greet with a pet sitter and I had high hopes of locking her in for my dog. But it was just me talking about the needs of my dog. She had no questions to ask, did not enquire about anything. It was just one way talking. She had two dogs that she was sitting and they looked well. She’s also a star sitter. But I thought she wasn’t interested in my dog at all.

Maybe I am doing this wrong.

Should I let them talk next time? What are some questions I can ask pet sitters during meet and greet? How to gauge if they will do a good job with my pet?

I will be using Rover for the first time and want to be fully prepared. I also want to have a sitter who’s a regular with my dog.

Please help me be fully prepared before my next meet and greet. Advice and tips on how to find a good sitter is much appreciated!

Thank you !

Short stints on my resume

I have a couple of short roles - 1Y, 3M and 1.5Y on my resume. This is being flagged as a negative by HRs. How can I move past this hurdle in my interviews.

Unfortunately, I have faced many redundancies and I am genuinely looking for a long term role now. But this is one of the many things bogging me down.

Thanks for your help!

Mutual care for my dog

I am a new dog owner in ealing and looking to find a community for my dog. By community I mean one or two families whose dog I can board/ take care of when they need and they can do the same for mine when needed. Basically trying to find an extended family so that I don’t have to leave her with new people every time.

Will I find this? How should I go about it? Looking to build a long term relationship based on trust, and love for our dogs.

Pet insurance costs

How much on an average are people spending in the Uk for insurance for their new pups? I was told it might be £25 a month. But it looks like it’s much more than that with most( almost all) providers.

Trusting someone with your home

How is everyone able to trust someone unknown coming into your home and staying there. Isn’t it a security risk? Giving access to someone to your ENTIRE HOME?

Beagle pup potty training

My pup is 5 months old. We are transitioning to free roam in the house. She pees and poops if she’s taken out at the right time. So I have really timed her that way. But if she’s not taken out when she needs to pee she will do her business at home. She doesn’t wait. I think it’s easier with poop, she can control a little but not with pee.

How can I train her to indicate to us in someway that she needs to be taken out and also how can I teach her to control her pee.

Beagle puppy diet

What is the best diet for a growing beagle pup. Mine is on a mix of royal cannine puppy and beta puppy dry food. We are just trying to run through our 15 kgs pack of beta puppy ( bought intially on advise of the breeder but realised its not the best) before shifting her solely on royal cannine.

Is there anything else I should supplement her meals with or is dry puppy food enough? I don't want to get into expensive dog food subscription models.

Everyone is surprised I got a beagle pup

Everyone is surprised I chose to get a beagle and not any other breed as a first time dog owner in the UK. It surprises me more because beagles are native to the UK yet I hardly see anyone around who has a beagle pup!

Potty training for my 5 month old beagle

We thought that we are making progress with our pup’s potty training. She is in a playpen most of the day when we cannot supervise her and we take her out at specific times for her pee and poo break and it has been quite manageable that way.

One night, she was quiet and we were doing chores in the house so we decided to let her free and I had already taken her out for a pee break. But this freedom led to her doing her evening pee and poo at home instead of her communicating to us that she needs to go out or that she needs to hold.

How do we solve for this? How to make sure she atleast gives us an indication when she needs a toilet break? We want to eventually get rid of the playpen and also make sure that she is fully potty trained.
Please help !

Walking my #beagle

My #beagle is more interested in sitting and watching the world go by than actually walking. She stops a lot on walks and has to be pulled for at least 80% of her walk. What can I do?

Sometimes I give her treats and that motivates her to take a few steps. But the treat trick also fails after a while.

Dog boarding

I have to be away for two weeks in November and my little pup will be 10 months then.

Has anyone had a good experience finding an alternative home for their dogs through borrow my doggy or the Rover app in the UK?

Fixing puppy food habits

My pup had completed 4 months. Earlier she used to eat her kibble without any problem. But since I started mixing some real pieces of chicken in her food, she doesn’t eat her food unless she finds chicken in her food. Although we are giving her chicken royal canine kibble.

I am scared that if she behaves likes this, I won’t be able to leave her with a boarder when we are away for two weeks later this year.

What can I do to bring her back to eating her kibble alone ?

Please help.
